keep getting intermittent calls from this number on my landline....my number is withheld and ex directory and only family have it so I dont know how they got it...cold calling obviously. they never leave a voicemail message. I have saved the number in my handset as IGNORE CANVAS so I dont answer it...very very annoying. Reading comments here seems to be some canvas by Barclays or a bank and a cold call.....ignore or report your choice.

08000852652 - Barclays bank tele sales. The most annoying part is there is no one there when you answer.
Phone 08450760174 which is their English sales dept (all the others are India - when will Brit companies realise us Brits hate that !) Ask them to take you off their caller list. I just did (after 6 phone calls and getting India four times and their head office who hung up on me !)
I am going to join the CO-OP bank tomorrow !

Got a call from this number today. Barclays!! When will they ever learn??  We have markers on our account that we do not want marketing calls and a couple of years ago I reported them to the Information Commissioner following a series of cold calling.  The Information Commisioner found in my favour and barclays gave an assirance that there would be no more calls.  Time for another complaint!!

Barclays ... doubt it - the bank would not be contacting me at 2000hrs -  a scam in my view - cut them off.

DO NOT give out information to this number. They claim to be calling from Barclays Bank. HOWEVER, they are  NOT associated with Barclays Bank. I phoned up Barclays Bank fraud team and gave the number to them to check and they are in no way associated with Barclays.

Just got a call from these guys.  She gave me enough details about my account activity for me to believe it to be genuine, she just asked me to confirm my DOB and two letters of my Mother's maiden name.
She was just calling to check I was happy with my services and accounts and to make sure I was aware of all the facilities available to me on my accounts.
I called Barclays just to be sure and they confirmed the call to be genuine, and from the sales team.

g0rd0freeman had a call from this number today answered and they said it was a follow up call from a visit to the branch on the 25th of August. As I did not visit the branch on the 25th I proceeded to ask what it was regarding to which the woman on the other end said she needed to verify  details first so I declined and hung up. Seems pretty fishy to me.

Got a call from this number, very poor line and quiet person on the phone saying he was from Barclays and then he asked for my wife (dspite it being a joint account). My wife took the call but told the person she didn't want to hear any offers or information at this time when he asked to confirm her D.O.B. The man then said that she sounded uncomfortable and said he would 'let' her go! Wife wasn't impressed but no harm done as she gave no info.

Yep, definitely barclays, tho there are still total morons who doesn't read the posts in this thread b4 posting. It is more, as u say 'SPAM', not 'SCAM' as the poster b4 u thinks.

@ others, The reason why legitimate callers ask for you to confirm details first is to validate that they are speaking to the account holder before they are allowed to access your account on their system. You won't like it if they discussed your account with someone else, would you?

People have said in there post's they dont have a Barclays account so how would the caller know there details to confirm anyway?

All seems abit odd to me, Im sure if it's important they will write a letter. Just block the number with your phone.....

    A Barclays customer
They called me, but did not introduce themselves.

It was a strange call. I am abroad at the moment, don't speak much of the local language. Yet they addressed me in this language. Before I even managed to understand what they are talking about, they hung up. This despite the fact that it took them several attempts to reach me. The prefix was evidently British, namely 44.

Now if this is unethical employee(s) of Barclays abusing the data in their system, they have several ways of knowing which country I am at the moment. First, before travelling abroad, I obviously let them know, so that I can use my card here. Second, there are details of transactions I made recently. Still - what the hell do they want?

Who knows, maybe sharing these concerns directly with police rather than Barclays might be a good idea.

And, by the way, who on earth is "bb"/"real bb" on this forum? A prankster or a fraudster?
