I've had calls from this number for weeks and decided to answer it. Can I speak to mr ?... yes that's me, I'm calling regarding your barclays account, ME: oh ok what About it coz I can sort it out when I go to work there in the morning!! He Hung up on me... cheers work colleague!!
I don't work for Barclays but he didn't know and couldn't get off the phone quick enough... no calls today for the first time in weeks.. victory is mine

Erm how can you call if you DON'T have my number? It wasn't a wrong number else they would have said oh sorry it was a wrong number, very unhelpful people indeed, hung up when we asked to speak to a manager/person in charge. They finally said they'd taken our number off, so either they lied (most likely considering) or there IS a way.

asking about reviewing account and asked secret question. is this a scam or is it genuiely barclays bank??? was called today 07/07/2012 around 10a.m.

Received a call from 0800852652 purporting to be a courtesy call from Barclays Bank.

The call was timed atb14.35 on Saturday 7th July 2012.

I was suspiscious and closed the call and subsequently looked it up on the internet.

It was your lucky day!  and further i don't belive you! Barclays are a nasty and evil company - if there  is a stench in the city - it is from barclays

first of all did they ask for you by name? course it can be a wrong number i could ring a number and miss a digit happens to the best of us so if they ring yes they have A number not necessarily yours.

I've got 5 missed called from this number since Monday. I'm refusing to pick up. Last time i had a phone call from someone like this they wanted my financial details as they wanted me to invest in a "new and very exciting market"....very dodgy

i can assure you barclays do NOT ask for any financial or banking details

Got a call today and he said he was from Barclays. I asked to be taken off their phone list and then he told me that I had to answer security questions to achieve this! I hung up. Don't Trust!

I had a call from 08000852652  yesterday and the guy claimed to be calling regarding an outstanding payment I supposedly had on a loan from Barclays - a loan of £200,000.  This is absolute rubbish as I have no loans and certainly do not own any money to Barclays.  When I laughed at him and said 'I wish - I'm a pensioner', tried a slightly different tack and when I asked him where he'd got my name from, he said it was from the National Debt Register!  Scam once more!  Anyone else out there - DO NOT GIVE ANY INFO WHATSOEVER!!!

Just had a call and they claimed to be from Barclays although foreign and call was long distance. I declined to give them any information.

08000852652 called, claimed to be a courtesy call from Barclays.  Didn't believe it.

Had call from this and also 01452510059 - there seems to be a link with both scams - both falsely claiming to be 'Barclays'.

Plus, there seems to be another link with many people saying some of the scammers had Geordie accents on both numbers!

Why don't they just leave people alone?!!

This is an unknown number that keeps calling. We have call recognition so we don't answer it but nevertheless it is still annoying,

I have regular calls from this number, and while it is annoying, it IS Barclays marketing department. I recieved one today but was half asleep and never answered. They do an account review with you, ask if your happy with your services and if you want to add or change any, then they get to the real point of the call. . . They are Barclays marketing department and ask when your house insurance etc. is due. . . . I have the number saved on my phone as "Barclays Spam" so just don't answer the odd call I get from them. . . These conspiracy theorists have wild imaginations. . . . Geordie accents = Geordie call centre. . .

Some people on here tell such wild and crazy stories it's laughable. . .

I have been getting at least 2 calls a day from this number for as long as i can remember, so decided to answer it on Tuesday, and told the lady (will admit, was a teeny bit rude) to remove me from their mailing list, have got home today, and have had 8 missed calls from them (evey half an hour) almost, but the thing that annoys me most now, is i don't even bank with Barclays, i want to shout at someone, but know it will get me nowhere, how can i have these calls stopped, does anone know

with you not banking with barclays u cant remove your number as we dont have your details eg banking information usually given at opening the account. only time barclays cold calls is different business customers so if u dont have a business or your not with us it may be barclaycard which is not part of barclays.

This is a follow up call from Barclays, having phoned their call centre a couple of days earlier, just checking how their customer advisor conducted himself and whether I was happy with the service. I was not asked for any personal or banking details other than verifying that it was definitely me that called, so they could confirm they were talking to the correct person about the call. Nothing to worry about, as far as I'm concerned, and I am normally very wary of these types of calls!
