Had a few calls from this number after applying for a Barlays business current account. After reading this page I came to the understanding it wasn't really barclays and sent them a public tweet on twitter. They confirmed this is a genuine number of theirs.

Just had a call from them. It is genuine, they gave me details of my account when I challenged them, the woman gave me the last few digits of my card backwards and my sort code. She also talked about info only Barclays could know like the exact amount of my outgoing direct debit to Barclaycard. The woman was actually very polite and helpful and was trying to see if she could help reduct my outgoings in terms of overdraft fee and credit card interest. Unfortunately, there was not a lot she could do to help but at least she was polite and friendly. So fear not fellow anti-coldcalling colleagues, this one is genuine and not an altogether unpleasant experience (unless you hate talking to banks that is....).

I also had a call today from this number, the person (in Liverpool) seemed to know alot about my account.  i did provide them with my date of birth and last two characters of my mothers maiden name.  I did not agree to anything but i did receive information by email from them.  As all of you have done i put this number into google and came up with this page.

I contacted Barclays business banking and also spoke the fraud team who state "This IS a Barclays number but a marketing team'  Selling products for them (which they seemed very happy about their new products!) This has been raised with barclays about how their marketing operators work.. (high-turnover call centre im guessing).

oh and before anyone asks.. No i dont work for the call centre company whoever they are working on behalf of Barclays.!!

If you want to stop the calls call Barclays and tell them to take you off their marketing list.

I get calls from this number - they ask for personal details - I don't give them. I tell them I'll call them back on a geographical number and they hang up.

Called and hung up but could hear people in the background for about 1 second.

Just spoken to Barclays and is definately NOT one of their numbers. Avoid even answering

jrsperfect - so did I talked with someone from Barclays and they couldn't confirm or deny it, found the link by myself and it confirmed it was genuine. Anyway makes one wonder, doesn't it

HI I have been being called for days from this number so went onto the barclays website to check it over and this number isnt barclays i think it may be somebody pretendning to be barclays :/

did you use the link the G gave because i tried it with the number and it comes up straight away.

Then click the first result (should be "Fraud Prevention Service" which then links to the the URL that the G gave http://www.barclays.co.uk/ContactUs/FraudPreventionService/P1242604053440)

From here you can check any phone number to confirm/validate whether or not it is a valid Barclays number
(is this case 08000 852652 does appear to be a valid .. although v.annoying.. Barclays number)

Hi everyone, this number is from Barclays Merchant Services, for me I gave them my number as they deal with my Business Account. So All good............

This number has called me 8 times in 3 days. Just checked all numbers published for genuine Barclays services and this number is NOT listed. It is a scam - do not give them any information.

Had a call from this number said he was phoning from Barclays and asked for me by name.  I couldn't hear hi, properly and asked him to repeat what he said - told me he would hang up and call straight back from another line,  3 hours later I'm still awaiting for his call.............

I have a Truecall unit attached to my phone, so they didn`t get through, however, truecall has flagged this number as fraudulent, so be very careful.

I was rung by this number today and they said they were from Barclays and that they were my business manager.  They knew that my dad is a partner in the business and knew both of our middle names.  Asked for my date of birth and my mums last two letters of her maiden name.  Sounded very legit.  He then started asking for email addresses and I grew suspicious so I said that I have logged onto my account and said that they are there why don't you look them up he suddenly got very cagey and then hung up.  I phoned Barclays to find out if it could be them and change security question and they said no and it might have been from us but they did not know!!

I have taken to finding out who these nuisance callers are via sites like this then visiting their web site and making a complaint via their 'contact us' link.
It worked for British Gas and now I'm waiting to see if it happens with Barclays.

Call claiming to be from barclays from this number. I immediately realised that after 20 years of being with barclays the have never contacted me without my request to.

The asked DOB, mothers maiden names etc, card numbers etc. of course they received all false information as I was interested in where call was leading. Once they harvested the information they believed to be correct the call ended. They must of thought it was their lucky day until they tried to use the false details LOL.

Anyway contacted barclays on their correct number 0845 755 5555 (not a free 0800 number, since when did banks do any thing for free?) they confirmed that this number that rang me had no affiliation to them.

Always give false details keep them on the phone as long as possible and save an unsuspecting victim from these scamsters
