- Arthur0800 nothing but nuisance calls, I don't pick up 0800 calls anymore.
- AnnieAnswered call, they said it was BARCLAYS but they didn't know my name I hung up.
- Caller: Barclays
- MattThis is Barclays. I asked them to call me about a mortgage (they own Woolwich) but I missed the call. They left a message, using my first and last names, saying that they would call me back and did. My friend works for Barclays and was able to find the person that I spoke to on their intranet system. I don't see the problem. I asked for them to call, they did. That's probably what most of the other people on here have done. Either that or you have at some point had an account with Barclays or one of it's subsidiaries in the past.
People are so untrustworthy nowadays, some of the conspiracy theories on here make me laugh!- Caller: Barclays
- Kocev Atanasi have phone call from 0800052652 is it from Barclays bank

- Kitty| 1 replyBarclays say on their fb page it belongs to them
- Caller: Barclays
- FED UP replies to KittyThis number callled me today. 3 Jan - I didn't answer, the ansaphone kicked in and the caller listened for 5-6 seconds for what he/she could hear before hanging up without saying anything. Another co. keeps ringing every day to, but I don't think has anything to do with this call - or maybe it has. They are Marlin Collection Agency, who also go under other names,- their no being 03331 239999 - total pests, all of them,
- SarahI received a couple of calls from this number and as I have recently changed the type of bank account I have with Barclays, I decided to check their website for the number. I found an option to enter a phone number and it will tell you if it is one if their's. According to the Barclays website, this is a genuine number:
http://www.barclays.co.uk/ContactUs/FraudPreventionService/P1242604053440.- Caller: Barclays
- AnonymousOne thing I will say to anyone receiving a call from someone claiming to be your bank. Do NOT give out ANY information. Politely ask them for the purpose of the call and what department within that company they are calling from. Then advise them you will call them back on a number you have on either a bank statement or the company website itself and can they leave notes on your file for when you call back.
Call back using a number you recognise for that company and that gives you the standard IVR (automated pre-recorded messages) and ask the agent to read your notes and confirm if the call you received was genuine. Provided you are happy, continue to enquire about the purpose of the call you received.
Any scammer only requires limited information about a potential target to commit identity fraud. Be extremely cautious if someone calls you and starts asking you for DOB's, Postcodes, Mothers Maiden Name etc. Any genuine reputable firm will fully understand your concern and why you would like to call them back rather than proceed with the call. If the caller becomes disgruntled, then this would indicate a potential scam.
I work within the financial service sector, so hopefully this information is usefull. - Mrs R FirthI don't know why this number keeps calling me or where it got my number from.
- Barclays are a pest - Bournemouththese pests call me every day and have done for over a WEEK!, and when you answer they hang up without saying a word - IT IS BARCLAYS BANK HAVING A LAUGH!! - well I for one do not think its very funny and these characters should not only get a real job but GET A LIFE TOO AND STOP HARRASSING PEOPLE - DO YOU HEAR ME BARCLAYS?? - yes they hear me and probably will call twice a day now instead of just the once...
- Caller: 08000 852652 - BARCLAYS BANK
- iNtHEkNOW replies to Bill| 1 replyAbsolutley right, When your bank calls you they have to be 100% sure it is the account holder they are speaking to. They should always have information they can give to prove they are genuine BEFORE you confirm who you are. This system ensures that banking information is NOT given to someone who could be pretending to be the account holder. Security cuts both ways, would you be happy if your bank did not check that were giving important information TO THE WRONG PERSON!!???
- DISGUSTED, B'MOUTH replies to iNtHEkNOWSince I wrote that last comment the same number has called every day - but by the time it goes to ansaphone they've hung up. What pests they are. Another number that keeps ringing is 0333 1239999 - these I believe are MARLIN debt-chasers - tho I have no idea why theyre calling me. More PESTS!!!
- DavidI received a call from this number and I failed to call it back
- fed up08000852652 call me every day and a few times I just refused to pick up the phone. instead I add to contact as Barclays scam so I would know who it is everytime the phone rings. they are the one wasting their time. it is so stupid to be calling people and not speak, so what is the point of calling and be a nuisance! Well. I will never going to pick up the phone.
