Answered this number, but they hung up as soon as I answered.

Wanted to talk to me about a business account that I do not have with them!!!!!!!
This was at 8.30 this morning!!!!!

This number tried calling last night,
I rang Barclays helpdesk and asked her to call it whilst i was on the line
She confirmed that it was indeed a department of Barclays Bank who are updating records and advising of any new products etc.
She confirmed that they would never ask for account numbers or pins.

i keep getting these calls as well, oh well gives me something to discuss with the lovely lady who deals with my personal banking in my local branch!!

i recently got the online business pack from Barcalys website. And have now recieved a call from this number, as most have had, as soon as i answered, they hung up.

If this "Isn't" barclays then there is a MASSIVE flaw in their website security. I would ring Barclays IMMEDIATELY if you do your online banking with them! ! ! ! !!

Just had a call from this number, from Barclays and english speaking sounding person answered.  I gave DOB and last two letters from mothers surname.  They did give us our balance figures and talked about my transferring between my Baryclays accounts. They somehow could give me a balance, so either that was a wild guess or they were very accurate, I didn't check after wards if this was correct.
So could very well be Barclays.

After many previous experiences with this number ringing me (no-one at other end or I have hung up straight away) it had been some time since the last batch, so I thought they had gone away.  Until I got a call a few moments ago.  Usual intro from woman as mentioned by others.  Obvious background noise of a call centre.  I was asked to confirm my identity by revealing my mother's maiden name.  Told her I didn't give out personal information over the phone and hung up.  Googled the number and found this site.  If this is legit. Barclays, do they realise how many people are getting fed up with them?

I'm getting fed up with these phone calls, I never pick the phone up & normally the answerphone stops as soon as the caller hears it. They rang earlier but the answerphone didn't switch off, it was a good 5 mins they prevented me from making any other phonecalls.
I'm registered with TPS too & will be calling Barclays tomorrow to tell them to make sure I am not called again!

Yes it is a Barclays number. Rang Barclays 0800111777 and they confirmed that it is one of their telephone sales numbers. Told them if they wanted feed back to come to this site and also what i thought of their sales methods.
Could cause big problems in a relationship with unidentified calls when caller puts phone down.

someonw from this number rings my home frequently with occassionaly hanging up when I answered the phone. Is it a scam where I get charged for answering the phone.
If it is Barclays number then they should know better then to harrass innocent people, and should be sued fot it.

i googled the number and it has been people saying they are from barclays.
this is a nusiance call

This number just called my home, hung up as soon as I answered it. Annoying. I thought it seemed dodgy so Googled it and arrived here. Seems they've been at this since 2007.

Just received a call but caller hung up ... as Silverine observed less than a day ago, they started in 2007 and are still bugging people.
