A bunch of ignorant tw**s, obviously they like to play mind games - but as the person who they seem to want doesnt live here why should I waste time on them. Did reply to their correspondence though - obviously they have never been to school because they can obviously neither read nor speak, and I doubt they can even write. I assume the Ltd in the firms title applies to the totalled brain power of all the staff - Limited!

I've had a call from this number and got the automated robot voice on my answer machine. I called them back via their 0800 number and it is Scot call. They were chasing an outstanding balance from Orange which had nothing to do with me but it belonged to my ex and they still had my home telephone number. They asked me to get in touch with Orange and see if I could get any further info about the account. As it was in my ex's name Orange couldn't tell me anything but they did say that there was an outstanding balance that my ex was liable for and for me to get back in touch with Scot Call to get my number removed from their records as it was nothing to do with. I called Scot call back and spoke to the same guy again. In all fairness he was ok on the phone and just said not to worry about it. He has removed my number and was referring it back to Orange and would contact my ex via post.

Have received a couple of calls looking for someone called Molly - we have had landline number for ten years and have no idea to whom they are referring. Haven't spoken to anyone, it has always been automated voice - very annoying. We are ex-directory so not sure how they would have got our number.......

Just got a robot call from scotcall, some text-to-voice thingy which instructed me to call 0844257565 (I haven't) and gave a "reference number" to quote.

Yesterday I got a call from a debt collector, DLC, who were inquiring about my neighbour as if he lived at my address.

    I have no debts.

So either my neighbour has stolen my identity and run up debt with my address (I doubt this), or the two companies DLC and Scotcall, are harrassing me as a matter of course in the hope that I will put pressure on my neighbour to sort his [***] out.

I don't care about my neighbour's debts. I care very much about being harrassed by companies with whom I have no relationship whatsoever.

    I robbed QuickQuid
Just a quick note for anyone not understanding where these people get their info'...! Now, most people will realise this already, but for the few that don't, read on...! The only way you can make sure 100% that your phone number is not openly available across the whole internet is to not use said net. It sounds like it's obvious, but people don't realise the simplest sites will broadcast your details like a beacon to these people, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and MySpace to name a few, (Now Sit Down For This) even if there is a privacy policy, there are people out there that can remotely access private computers, download full hard drives, make changes and even activate webcam and mics (Be careful when having sex in sight of your computer), a decent antivirus programme will protect you from this sort of attack, but wont end it.Did you know, DVLA openly admit to selling your personal details to 3rd parties...? And you gave them permission to do so, (see T's & C's for all and any documents signed). Anyone with a good level of computer skill would be able to find me, my address and phone number, any vehicles owned, kids, relatives any info' they desire, just from this post, it's that easy when you know how. If these people ring, inform them that you do not accept the debt, you're reporting them for harrasment and for them to tell the original company to take you to court, don't offer any info' or even confirm theirs, 9 times out of 10, the debt isn't worth the lengthy and costly court hearings and they will write it off. Take Sky for example, BT are similar, if you fail to see through your contract, default on payment, 6 months later you will be able to join again with no fear of penalty, I just renewed my Sky+ for the 5th time after defaulting, I actually told the agent and he said "not to worry, as long as you're paying for it now there's not a problem!" These people are chancers, they buy debts from the companies to try to make a profit, but if you refuse the debt as yours, they will take it back and you probably wont hear from them again, sometimes maybe, but hey, I'd rather deal with the courts and open a payment plan I afford than have to fork out the lot to some gangster type at my door using threatening behaviour, wouldn't you...?

P.S. Stop putting your phone numbers in online forms....! Easier said than done...!

Just had a call from these guys. He asked for a name I have never heard of and when told it was the wrong number he apologised and hung up. Seemed simple enough! Whether or not they try again remains to be seen.

However a quick word to those on here that b**ch and complain about being chased for debts and call those paid to do this job all the names under the sun - remember it is just a job! I have done this temporarily (and now I work as a trace agent, searching for those who move to escape paying). If you take a service or a loan you should pay it back, is that not obvious? - It’s how economies work! If you continue to take and not repay then we have economical deficits which leads to recession - and that affects all of us.

Don't get me wrong - the companies desire to profiteer is often a factor however they are set up to make money - after all, this is the principle of capitalism. If you don't want to owe you should refuse to borrow!

A case in point - the current student grant/loan situation has been brought about by those that have abused the system over the last decade or so. If you borrow money to further your education then you should pay it back so that the next generation can do likewise. The amount of graduates who refuse to take jobs over the limit so they escape repaying their fees is disgraceful and those people should look at themselves before joining protest marches!

And here endeth the rant - sorry!

    Only idiots pay debts
Hi guys, I just recieved a call from this number "08001582808" which as everyone has already worked out is a debt collection agency. If like me you have decided to make a stand and refuse to pay back your debts to a giant corporation or bank then well done for seeing the light. Society is structured to keep people in perpetual debt and to give the giant corporations a semi eutopia.

Only a couple of years ago, everyone was encouraged to spend, spend, spend. Banks and businesses were giving away credit like it was out of fashion regardless of your circumstances or if you could pay it back. Most didn't even do a credit check as they was happy for people to spend beyond there means so long as they was spending with them. Fast forward to the global recession and debt is being used like a ball and chain and a means to destroy the middle class and keep people in poverty. Benefits have been slashed by government and public services have been seriously restricted. The government is basically doing whatever it can to cripple the poor and the middle-income familys, making the people with the least money pay for the mistakes of the giant corporations. Students, pensioners, disabled and unemployed people are taking the load off society by having to live on less than their already low income. Its immoral and down-right disgusting and I'm shocked that we've let them get away with it. What makes these cuts even worse if the fact that our SCUMBAG government who are a bunch of 'out-of-touch' rich eton boys have bailed out the banks and prevented them from paying the consequences of their own mistakes. Not only that, but most giant UK corporations (including bailed out banks) have been manipulating their tax returns which means AGAIN they are not paying their way or anything close to their fair share to help us out of recession. The straw that broke the horses back for me was the recent tax break given to the 1% wealthy by our scumbag government, dropping from 50% to 40%.
If it wasn't so serious it would be hilarious because you honestly couldn't make it up. The government and their capitalist friends must be pointing at us and laughing their heads off. Well, no more.... If the government isn't on our side then it's time we showed them who was in charge.

The truth is, most people don't realise exactly how much power and freedom they actually have when it comes to debt. Most people THINK they can't escape their debts and some even think it's wrong to even consider it. Well in these hard times it's obviously each man for himself so stop thinking it's wrong because you've been robbed by your creditors and government enough already. The thing is 99.9% of people police their own debts and make it impossible to avoid when in reality all you have to do is stop communicating with debt collectors.

Its extreamly simple, don't speak to them, don't ring them, don't contact them in any way. Throw away EVERY letter without a second thought. If they come to your door say 'I don't know who your taking about' and NOTHING else, just shut the door and ignore any further knocks. If anyone rings they will ask you for you to confirm your name, address and date of birth - just tell them you NEVER give out information over the telephone from unprompted calls and there is nothing they can do. If you STICK to this and do EVERYTHING i said, your debt will get passed from one company to the next and it renders them 100% POWERLESS.

However, if you have a car in your debts name I advise you to put it in a relatives name just to protect it.
Debt collectors can only begin taking property once they can prove you are the person in debt, if you refuse to communicate in any way, they can't prove who you are and it renders them powerless. There is only ONE debt I will ever pay and thats a Court fine because this is collected by court officials who have the power to enter your property. Any other debt collectors don't have ANY real power at all.

Just to help you guys out, here is a list of popular phone numbers from debt collectors which you should add to your phones block list:

    01412273670
    01614752875
    01772220504
    01782401121
    02030128157
    07527251176
    08001582808
    08451460185

Finally, please seek alternative advice if you have a morgatge you can't pay or you have a property in your name because I'm not too sure about this. I'm only giving advice on regular credit such as overdrafts, storecards, unsecured loans, HP and any other simular debt.
