First of all BT do not run TPS.     Second, if you have or have had a business relationship with BT they can call you without worrying, at least that is what the Information Commissioner says.    Third, if you are still a BT customer call them and instruct them to change your Profile in their records to exclude all marketing calls.  Fourth, calm down it is easily fixed without getting carried away.

It's BT ringing about upgrading to their BT Infinity. I know because I spoke to them.

And I've figured out the problem: Their call-centre software, which is supposed to ring you just in time for one of their reps to be available to answer, must be malfunctioning.  Hence the 'ghost' calls: the software calls you, but there isn't a rep available to take the call.  

This happens a lot with call centre software, but it is fixable and BT really ought to sort it out: depends who they've outsourced their call centre to!

Call 'em back, ask them to log you as having been contacted and then the software shouldn't call you again... fingers crossed eh?

They 'phone me twice a day. I leave my ansaphone switched on - they can talk to that if they want!

Just by chance I answered in German when this number called. The bloke hung up. If it really was BT I don't think they would have done so.

08001 691608.. Said they were from BT and wanted to confirm my Direct Debit details - told them I don't do my business over the phone and the young girl put the phone down. I am very concerned, was this another scam aimed at older people, trying to find their bank detail and bleed their accounts dry???

I keep getting this number call me at least 3 times a day. The phone rings 2 or 3 times then stops.

Used their own 14258 service to block them today, I may have to pay for it but its topped all the other bloody annoying cold calls as well!

We also keep getting calls from this number everyday!  I don't usually answer but just now I did, the person said they were from BT but then it cut off!
How do we stop this kind of pestering?!

Something to do with BT Sports on ESPN or SKY.

I had this number leave a message on my answering machine. It said 'I need to speak to the account holder' and left no return number. the fact that they wanted to speak to 'the account holder' and not my name made me suspicious.
I had them ring again today when I was at work. No message this time!

Another unwanted call!!!

It is BT. They are trying to get people to upgrade to Infinity at the moment at no extra charge or extended contract until new contract due to start with the new prices :-(  . It's by invite only too. With BT you can ask them not to call you as they abide by telephone preference agency rules.
