Report a phone call from 08003896818 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- Bob RI get loads of these. Someone was actually on the line today claiming to be from Alliance and Leicester. Our telephone regulators should be soing something about this nuisance.
- DaniThey call me at least twice a day!!!!!! People have been complaining over a year why isn't anything done?!
- Philip CReceived a call around 8:30am and at 11:00am today by this same number. Both times, nobody responded.
This 08000 324617 number people have suggested, I've tried calling, and although it's automated, got them to remove my number, but it's apparently 24 hours before it takes place. So, I hope this works.
If not, I suppose the only thing you can do is get them to tell you their company name first, tell them you're registered with TPS, and say you're going to report them for harrassment. - willThis number rings daily 3 to 4 times never anyone one the line
- CharI have been getting calls from this number daily, called the number back and was greeted by an automated voicemail that said that they were a marketing company that called on behalf and by instruction from various companies. basically they will say anything to get you to answer various questions and then sell on the information... which will no doubt result in further sales calls from other companies.
Ignore ignore ignore!! - AntoniaI rang the company's landline just now: 020 8484 1000. I said I'd had repeated calls from an 0800 number that traced back to their company, and that I wanted the calls to stop, please.
I was put through to Jacqui Swain (not sure if I've spelt that right) and she was very helpful and friendly, took my number to add to the "Do Not Call" list, and didn't ask for my name or any other information.
Of course, if we keep getting the calls anyway I'll be back here to let you all know. - mariehad a call claiming to be virgin money, (who i have a credit card with) and that they can put cash in my current account, interest free till august. I said no thankyou and she just replied..you don't need any for christmas? she wasnt rude so i actually believed her until i read these comments.
- TLC employeeHi guys,
I'm a TLC employee, and feel the need to clear up a few things. Firstly, I am genuinly shocked at the sheer volume of silent calls that people on here seem to be getting. Our dialler should not be dialling the same number more than twice a day. To the people who claim to have received 5 in one day - are they definately from the same number? If they are, please call the 0800 number and ask to be put on the 'Do Not Call' list right away. if you get the opportunity, please let someone know as well what has happened - I completely agree that this is not acceptable.
To people who have received calls claiming to be from Abbey/A&L, are you aware that MBNA are the issuers and underwriters of these cards (well, all Abbey cards up until about a year ago). If you call the bank directly, they won't be aware of any offers, as they don't administer the cards, they are essentially MBNA cards with an Abbey/A&L logo on the front. I also know for a fact that the balance transfer calls are totally genuine, and that it is impossible to misuse a credit card with just the account number.
If anyone has recieved a call on behalf of Sky or anyone else asking for security info, please be aware that the agent is unable to discuss your account with you without confirming your identity first. I appreciate this is frustrating, but imagine if we had dialled the incorrect number (maybe regarding an important matter concerning your account), and the agent proceeded to talk about your account with someone who wasn't you?
For the people concerned about TPS - get yourself put on the 'Do Not Call' list. TPS only blocks calls from companies who obtain your information from third parties. If TLC call you on behalf of one of their clients, they are (contractually speaking) essentially calling from the company you are either a customer of, affiliated with, or have requested information from. Some campaigns will require agents to open with "I am calling on behalf of...", some with "I am calling from..."; this will have been stipulated by the client (Sky, MBNA, BT, O2, etc.). Sky's view is that a call from TLC is essentially a call from Sky themselves.
If you do not wish to recieve marketing calls, or customer service calls (they don't all involve sales), you need to ensure you are not on the marketing list of any company you are a customer of. TLC's outbound calls are simply providing a service that these companies want, if we didn't do it, someone else would. Have Sky, 3, O2 etc take you off their lists. Additionally, we do take TPS very seriously. On the (rare) occasions we have a 'cold calling' campaign, the TPS is applied with the utmost vigilience.
A final point - TLC is not a 'dodgy marketing company', as many people on here seem to assume. We are a contact centre business, and do (despite some shocking examples, of which I am genuinly embarrassed) operate with a high level of professionalism. Indeed, outbound calls only account for around 20-25% of our business, for the most part we are an inbound contact centre. Ever phones Sky, Debenhams, UK Online, Microsoft, MBNA, Travelodge, De Vere, Southern Trains, Orange? Then you probably spoke to TLC.
I hope that has cleared up a few issues. i will re-visit this thread to answer any further questions, and provide any help in stoppping calls if people need it. We are genuinely not in the business of scamming or underhand practices. Thanks for reading. - IanCaller says their Atheneum International, wanted to speak to my wife about preventing identity theft. Didn't want to give me any details.
So, told them not to ring again and hung up.- Caller: Atheneum International
- Philip CJust updating, as I left a message on the 27th Nov about receiving silent calls. On that very day, got another five more silent calls from them, with the last one at around 8pm. However, since calling the 08000 324617 number to get my number removed, haven't received any calls from them since.
- Marion BellOnly the second time but could become a pain
- AnonI've just had a silent call from this outfit as well and with regards to the comment from "TLC Employee" about going on the TPS: we ARE registered on the TPS. I'll be registering a complaint about these cowboys with Ofcom and/or the TPS.
- TLC EmployeeAnon - if TLC are calling on behalf of a company with whom you already have a relationship, the TPS does not come into effect, as at some point you will have at some point opted in (or not opted out) of recieving marketing/service calls from them. If you absolutely want to recieve no calls, in addition to being on TPS, you need to contact EVERY company you have some kind of relationship with - credit cards, store cards, banks, insurance companies, phone companies, Sky/Virgin, and ensure you opt out of recieving marketing from that company or any 'selected partners'. The TPS does NOT stop calls from companies to whom you have directly provided your information.
- Lauren IrvingI have finally picked up to this number today after it has rang twice a day since last Thursday. The lady claimed to be from Topshop and after i confirmed my name and asked what she wanted she hung up on me. Very confussed as I do not have a topshop card and either way they are from GE Capital and i assume topshop dont have anything to do with them. Hopefully this is the last i will hear from this number.
- Caller: Topshop

- jjJust received a call from this number..... thankfully my phone displays the callers id...... so if i dont recognise it i dont answer.... simple as that. Thought i would Google the number out of curiosity and came across this page.... Interesting information. Thank You
- Mrs T GKeep getting these calls - on answer no one there. I will not ring back incase its a scam.
- Samcalled at 1830 on 11th December, 10.58 on 12th Dec, it only ever rings twice, I had my phone in my hand now when they rang (15.39 12 Dec) and answered, it was a delay, then someone in the background said hello, then they didn't respond and then hung up.
Doesn't make sense why they call if they don't talk when you answer, how much does it cost you to ring back? would be my question... - ValeriaAs all the "victims" above, I have received at least 2 missed calls a day for the past week or so. It is very annoying! Again, if I try to answer, they just hang up!
The numbers are 08003896818 and 08000217372.
I think I will call my provider and try to block the numbers. - tinagot 2 calls today, answered one of them but no answer - what do you do about it? I cant seem to block them, is their anyway of reporting the number?
