Repeated ringing of my mobile from this number, dialed it back from a landline, message to say ring 08000324617 to remove my  number from the database did this, will take up to 24hrs says the automated message..will see

Its a scam... i told him that he called me yesterday and gave him all my info. So i said my ref was UK2293 and then the caller go confused and said thank you and hung up! Was asking for a payment of some sort...

If some one ever calls and is dodgy, tell them they have to email you there reg number via text and email... if they dont know what the is just put tell them to F_CK off and die. Its a prank call to rip you off so might as well get some thing out of it.

08003896818 I have been receiving calls from this number and it has been annoying me so much because they always hangup when you try to answer. Reading comments from others on this site has been extremely helpful and I am glad I googles their number.

I have received over 40 calls from this number over the last 3 months - i had previously been ignoring them as i was overseas and thought it was an insurance company trying to sell me car insurance but then i googled and found this- am so happy - will continue to ignore them. Thank you !

Just had a call from 'Debenhams' about my account. Something about the caller didn't sound professional enough. He said he was calling about data protection issues on my card. I explained to him that one of the first things we are now taught about DP is never to divulge personal details in an unsolicited phonecall!
He gave me the number 08003896818, and said I could use it to verify his details. I explained that really dodn't prove anything. What got me really suspicious was the fact that Debenhams were giving out 0800 numbers!

I have been receiving calls from 08003896818 for a few days now the latest being 19/09/08 09:42 and 15:09. I never pick up the phone to an 0800 number - part principle part fear/ignorance to the consequence.

Since this number has not popped up on this thread in some months I suspect it has changed ownership but I still suspect it of being bogus.

This number [08003896818] has called me on my mobile several times in the past 2 weeks. I'm glad I have read all these comments. I don't answer it, but next time I will give it to my dog to speak to them so it wastes their money...

I received a call from the above number and the line went dead. I am always suspicious so I looked the number up on the internet and got this link.

I have a question, with all this absolutely obvious Spam on this number why the hell aren't BT doing something about it???

I've just answered to this number on my mobile and no one there (as usual it seems) its the second time they have called in 2 days.

I'm off to complain to BT and point them to this endless thread of scams and worrying incidents from at best annoying marketeers and at worst identity fraudsters.

08003896818 has called my mobile twice in the space of about 30 mins, when I answer, there's no one there.  Have called the number back from a landline, the recorded message explains that the number is assigned to the Listening Company, a marketing company whose agents are calling on behalf of some of their own customers (which would explain why people are getting agents confirming they are from different organisations like MBNA, Debenhams etc).  If you call 0800 032 4617 and follow the instructions, you are then requesting that the number they called be placed on the Do Not Call list - note that they don't remove your number completely and are highly likely to sell your telephone number details on to a n other to do much the same thing.

They just called me, claiming to be from BT. Asked for me by name aswell. Tried to sell me a credit card and even asked what cards I had at the moment. Told them it was none of their business.

As it's an 0800 number (i.e. freephone), I'm guessing they cover the cost if we ring it back?  If so and everyone rings it back and puts them on hold... Theoretically at least this should a) cost them money and b) block their lines.

Any telecom engineers out there care to confirm?

Bloody Nuisance, call barred from my phone

This number is a total pest and pain in the rear.  
They have called me at least a dozen times in the last 2 weeks on my company mobile phone.  I managed to get to the phone on 5 of these occasions, four of which turned out to be nothing but silence.  
When I did get pick it up to find someone there they were calling from Sky.  I made it perfectly clear that I did not want what they were selling and that the calls were a pest, but they continue to make silent calls at all times of the day and night!
I shall be reporting them to the appropriate authorities.

They rang this morning asking to speak to the account holder, suspision was raised as they came through on the non account holders phone, they said that they are from 02 and that we could save money if we signed up to a new agreement, we terminated the call and rang our 02 customer services who said that it was not a legitimate call, if this number calls again ignore it.

This number is really getting on my nerves theyve phoned about 10 times today and its only 15.40.Im off work on the sick and the phone ringing all the time is really not putting me in a good mood.
