    According to the earlier replies it's virgin they keep calling me too but I have now put a block on it so hope they don't get past that I never answer calls when I don't know the number. If someone really wants me they will leave a voicemail

    Apparently a lady from Virgin media called my house today. She asked to speak to Steve. There is no Steve or ever has been in this house or on this number. Surely if it was virgin they would know who they are calling!

    Picked this call up last week. Asian lady, with a deal of background noise which sounded like  call centre, wanted to speak to my husband. I said he wasn't available. They have phoned me every day since and three times today. As somebody else said, they are a blessed nuisance. Please track them down and get rid!

    I do not answer the phone  and call back if a message is left or a 'RECOGNIZED' phone number - I get calls from this number very, very, often - I myself am disabled and this is annoying - why cannot someone do something about these 'cold calls'?  I am sure with modern day technology, something can be done about  this or is the 'what we can and annot do' just a hoax??????????

    Rang tonight, supposedly from Virgin Media wanting to know if we had the best deal.  OH said we had just changed it but sheh/e was persistent and then asked him for his password!  

    At that point he said no and goodbye.

    Been getting a call from the same number but have not picked up they leave a voice message on my answer phone but on one is saying anythink. They will not give up get it about 5 times in one day

    The man on the phone stated he was from Virigin Media but he didn't know which services I use Virgin Media for. He wanted to upgrade me but couldn't tell me upgrade what!!!!!!

    The asian man on the phone was very suspicious

    Just had this number call my mobile. Wondered if it was my bank as they are the only people to have my mobile number apart from family and close friends. Asian lady with an American accent on a dreadful line identified herself but as I'm a bit hard of hearing (which is why I don't speak on my mobile) I have no idea who she was.  My home phone is ex directory, I am on TPS and I have paid a company to keep out cold calls to both phones yet still they ring. These people are the scum of the earth.

    Upon seeking this web site find it to be some form of scam thus will note number and have my answer phone reject them if they call again .

    I was contacted on 1st October 2014 from what sounded like an Asian man claiming to be called Answar from Virgin Media on 08004089340.  Claiming that I was entitled to a discount.  I did not believe him and would not give him any information.  I suggest nobody else does either.

    yes i have been constantly getting calls from this number now over a period of around 5 months,again this sounds like an Asian lady who has stated to me that you can get an upgrade on your virgin media. I only have broadband and she stated that on the phone to me and she said i can upgrade to landline and get extra gbs on my internet speed for extra 6 pound a month. She must be connected to virgin media, she asked me for my first and second letters on my password  which i only give that..
    I told her i would have a chat to my mum about the upgrade and told her to ring back. She has been constantly ringing me now desperate to make a sale. I find this very very distracting and dont feel comfortable with numbers like this ringing me.

    Virgin media would need to have a long hard look at themselves as a company giving details out to third partys. Anyone know how to stop this

    I keep receiving calls from this number seen people have said its virgin media but I can't understand why they contacting me I have never had virgin media

    Received this call earlier this evening. Lady on the other line, couldn't really tell what accent she had but definitely overseas.

    She explained she was from Virgin Media and that with the latest deals available, I was entitled to an upgrade to tv and phone packages. I said, "i see" at which point she told me the call was being recorded for training purposes and then asked for the first and last digit of my account number.

    Immediately became suspicious as I've always been taught that any respectable company would never ask for any form of personal details over the phone (or in an email etc.) unless you've called them first. So I asked why she needed my details, to which she replied with her first statement about latest deals.

    I explained that I only have broadband and intend to keep it that way until I decide otherwise. She said she understood and that if I ever wanted to upgrade or get information about Virgin Media and the offers available to me, to just give them a call.

    Call ended. Contact number was 0800 408 9340. I have added this contact number to my mobile's "number rejection" list. I had never agreed to accept marketing calls when signing up. Will see if the calls persist over the next few days (as some people have been experiencing).

    We keep getting this number calling my wife's mobile phone. Have never answered as we knew it was not a number we recognized. I am a Virgin Media customer, but not Virgin Mobile. I found this thread and so called Virgin Media Customer Retention Team (the only people sensible enough to do anything in my experience) who said they have no record of making any calls.

    However I think they only have  a record if the call gets answered! The chap has removed our mobile number from their records and marked our account for "no sales contact" so we'll wait to see what happens.

    He did say that Virgin Mobile and Virgin Media are two separate entities and so although he was fairly sure this would stop the calls he was not 100% certain. He said if the calls continue then we have to answer one and state that we want our number removing from the database and say that we want no more calls - that should do it.
