    Keep getting silent calls from this number.  In the evening. Disruptive, unwelcome.  Legislation should change to make it possible to claim damages for persistent unwanted calls.  I am NOT going to ring the number back.  I ALWAYS say no marketing contact whatsoever to anything I have to sign up for and I am very reluctant to give out details, NEVER giving out phone number.

    Whoever they are, they are a complete nuissance. Over the last 3 monthsI have had  on average at least one call, sometimes as many as 3  per day on my mobile as late as 9pm. Never answer it. Have often declined to accept if I catch it quick enough, that has no effect at all. It managed to get to my voicemail once when I checked it was just blank with laughing in the background. I have even tried the magic "STOP" text but that hasn't helped.

    Yep -- get this number calling several times a day, evenings too. It usually drops when I answer the phone or before -- I always leave answering for four rings as it helps filter out the computer generated calls. So it's one of those ... a computer generated call. I have got the caller only twice -- once an Oriental sounding girl, and then a similar mans voice. It appears to be Virgin media touting their mobile service. I have broadband, tv, phone package with them. It may be genuine, but it's a *****y nuisance being called at all times of day when I'm trying to work. I'm contacting Virgin to see if it's genuine and will report here.

    I am receiving persistant calls from this number but never answer them as I do not recognise the number.  I am so glad to have read this page and realise I am doing the right thing as it does seem to be a con.

    Claimed they where from Virgin Mobile and wanted my Account password.  I asked Would you give that info out? -I think not!!.  I politely told him that I would be hanging up.

    Keep getting missed calls from this number, i want to know if it is a serious call,prank, or someone trying to get information they shouldnt be, i have heard through the grape vine that it is from virgin media, i doubt this as i am a virgin mobile user and they always e-mail me seperately and never call, if they were to call im sure they would leave a message and not hang up!!!!!

    A women with a strange American accent called me to ask my password for virgin media and wanted to offer me some kind of rewards. Be careful!

    Just had a call from this number at 9.00pm.  

    I didn't pick up as I didn't recognise the number.

    I don't have Virgin media, but I do have a Virgin mobile, so it could possibly be them.

    I had a call from them today, also purporting to be Virgin. I don't believe it myself. I had a spate of calls from what sounded like the same centre a few months ago (same accent and distant skype-like connection), although no number showed then, I challenged them as I had been foolish enough to answer a few more questions than I should. They were desperate to get me to answer a couple more questions and called me back immediately three times after me hanging up. When I said I knew they weren't from Virgin the person started a tirade of abuse, swearing and threatening to kill me. They said they knew where I lived and that I would die. Very nice. Reported it to the Police who took a statement.

    They called again and I said that I knew they weren't real and I'd called the Police and they immediately hung up. I hadn't heard from them for a few months until today. I told them the same today although they remained far more polite, but didn't hang around.

    0800 408930 - I regularly get calls from this no. but it disconnects when I answer, this is great if you like showing off your latest ringtone in the office but not so great if you have a life and don't want nuisance calls. Does anyone know how to get this no. blocked/barred..?

    An asiatic sounding young woman phoned and asked to speak to me, using my correct surname. She said she was Louise from Virgin Media, and that 'they' had been looking at my recent telephone usage and could offer me some ways to reduce costs. She told me that the phone call was being recorded. She then asked me for my Virgin media password. I refused to give it, and asked her who she was and what number she was calling from. She said, "I have already told you I am Louise from Virgin Media." I told her that meant nothing - I could say I was the Prime Minister, but it didn't prove I was. I then asked what number she was phoning from. She said the Data Protection Service prohibited her from saying, but that Virgin Media's number was XXXX. I told her I didn't believe a word she was saying, and hung up. I then got 08004089340 by dialling 1471 - so much for DPS, then! I have had a Virgin landline and broadband for many years. I telephoned Virgin Media on 150 and asked what was going on. I was told that sometimes Virgin do contact people about their phone usage, but the guy did not recognise the number I had given him. He also checked on my files, and said that there was no record of any call being made to me from a Virgin rep; apparently all such calls are logged onto a person's account, no matter what the outcome. We did discuss my phone usage; he couldn't really suggest any ways to reduce my phone bill. He said he would report the matter to his superiors, and would make a note on my file about what had happened. I have been ex-directory for probably 20 years, and registered with the Telephone Preference Service for a long time. I commented that if the person really was a Virgin Media caller she could do with language lessons and a course in PR.

    I have had numerous calls from this number and chose to ignore them, I also heard it was virgin media and as I have a tv package with them decided to go into the shop in town and ask them why they were phoning me. The lady in the shop said nobody had tried to get in contact with me from this number and it wasn't anything to do with them so ignore it. She has also taken the number to report it to the company.
