Correction.          0800 numbers are free to call from UK landlines.       They are not free from most mobiles.

apparently this is a virgin number, just had their operator check. Get taken off the marketing and it should stop.

I got a call from an Asian girl saying she was Kerry from British Gas. Put the phone down as I have had this call before.

One good thing to say about British Gas is that they do supply a facility on their website to check if a number calling you is genuinely theirs or not.    That facility is at http://www.britishgas.co.uk/help-and-advice/c ... e-call-you.html     and it confirms that the number shown in this thread is not anything to do with British Gas.         If only other Companies would think to provide a similar facility.

This number has called me several times, claiming to be virgin media... well, I know it is not virgin media as I have phoned them & they've confirmed it is NOT one of their numbers.... in fact virgin media do not even have my mobile phone number, so it's an impossibility!!

Fed up  with these phoning me. It's Virgin media. They  try to sell deals or silent calls

For all I know these irritating/nuisance calls could be being supported by my provider (or the 'telecommunications' industry in general) to facilitate their income by encouraging a subsequent call-back.
I became so disturbed by such calls that I would 'hear' my telephone ringing at any hour of the day or night. At one point nuisance calls were actually coming through at 3-4am!
I didn't know whether the ringing was 'real' or imagined so I turned the telephone ringer off and now all calls go straight through to an answering machine.
I reason that, if the purpose for a call is so UNIMPORTANT (or it's an automated call) such that no message is left - I SIMPLY DON'T WANT TO KNOW ABOUT IT! I certainly don't care to follow it up - other than note the inconvenience.
I look forward to the day that I am no longer forced into paying for the privilege of the intrusion by requiring a telephone-line subscription just because I want a broadband Internet connection. This in itself is the real SCAM!!! Somebody somewhere just wants more money and/or power.

Thank you and all the others,who have warned us of this number and lady.It is now over three years since your post,and she is still doing it.Four calls this past week.Well i finally answered one,and thanks to all of you,i acted stupid well i am 63 and deaf in both ears.But if you lot had not posted i might just have got sucked in.So thank you everyone.But i also called Virgin and they acknowledged the number.Very strange.

I have contacted virgin  by dialing 151 from my virgin landline and asked them to remove me from all sales calls, as i will contact them if i want something.

Lets see if this works

As someone who works some weird hours, i like to be able to sleep during my time off. these people calling have no concept that you might be asleep or busy.
Call them and ask them to stop the calls


If it doesnt work, they will lose a customer very quickly.

Constantly harasses by this number.

IM GETTING WELL FED UP WITH THESE [***] RINGING ME. I WAS ABROAD LAST WEEK I GOT A CALL THEN MESSAGE EVERY DAY,IT COST ME EACH TIME I RETRIEVED A MESSAGE.IT SAID IT WAS A NON-REPLY CALL AND THAT THEY WOULD RING ME BACK LATER. THEY DID EACH DAY. SAME AS RANG OFF BEFORE I COULD ANSWER ...I WILL HAVE TO TAKE THIS UP WITH MY PHONE PROVIDER....

Virgin media ?

I am getting really annoyed as this number is ringing me several times a day and disturbing me when I am t work.  I called Virgin Media who claim it is not them.  It seems that an awful lot of people are being bothered.  I think it is very unprofessional, if indeed it is Virgin Media.

Two calls on 13/12/13 and another today all on my mobile. I am with Virgin but they do not have my mobile number. Only friends and family know it. I make up a ridiculous number (like 111111) if asked (like with Argos) because I know if they insist, it means they are going to sell the number on! Haven't answered this number and they have only just started ringing.

Four calls on the 17/12/13 spread over approx. 3 hours. Went on-line and google searched the number and wow!! it seems these guy's have been about for at least 3 years. So I downloaded an app 'NQ Call Blocker' blacklisted the number and low and behold on the 18/12/13 they made another 4 attempts to call my mobile but the app. blocked them all. We should not have to go to these limits but hey guy's at least it works.

I am a virgin media customer and have just called customer services regarding this number. I've been told it's someone posing as Virgin mobile. The customer service rep I spoke to confirmed that this number is not the number for Virgin mobile. And warned me not to pass over any details to them.

I have been receiving calls from this number for the past few days. I have ignored it but I am glad for the discussion on the site. I feel reassured that I have not missed any important calls such as from the hospitals, etc.Why can't regulations be imposed for such intrusions? I have registed for the TPS but seems to have no effect at all.
