constantly getting calls from what can only be described as asian call centers soo anoying.. got to point no one could call as line constantly blocked

signed up to caller preference .. yet 0800 4089340 seems to get through that.. constantly!!

after anserwing today and being asked to confirm my direct debit details or my phone line would be cut off!!  the asian lady got all stroppy and rather rude when i refused to get my bank details ..did not belive she was from virgin media..

although if you call back the number you get auto message saying it was virgin media

i dialed 150 they didnt confirm nor deny it was a virgin media cold caller .. but said no one had contacted me for months ..

if it is legitably virgin media they need to re train thier staff not to arogant and rude.. and perhaps use an english based call center ..

personaly i belive virgin media sold our details on to 3rd rate companys!.. will be canceling all my virgin media services if this continues though.. so dam anoying!

The lady told me that the call was being recorded for training.  As soon as I said "ok" the phone line was cut off.

I was called today (13th January 2011) from this number, offering me a better Vrigin Mobile deal. I was a little suspcious so ended the call & immediately checked with Virgin Mobile. They confirmed it was a legitimate sales call from their Manilla office.

This is Virgin, or at least an off shore call centre that is part of their group.

If this happens to you then the advice from a very helpful man in Virgin account closures is

    Contact customer services

Tell them you are being contacted by an Out bound sales team.

ask to opt out of sales  marketing  (150 from a virgin phone)

The NC screen apparently - should the operator not be sure :-)  Make sure you get opt out option 4 - out of everything, they have several levels of opt out apparently.

For interest. I called immeiately after receiving the umpteenth call, to be told no-one had called me from Virgin. I then did a little surfing and found these messages so called back. The sales call had then been logged, but only the one I answered, not the numerous unanswered ones.

And I had asked for no marketing when I signed up, so worth checking even if you think you have that status already.

    Hope that helps someone.

Just spoken with Virgin - I was told this is a scam / phishing operation claiming to be Virgin Media and that they are carrying out investigations following numerous complaints.

Their advice (as if it was necessary): do not give any personal details and hang up.

Got a phone call from this number at 7:30pm and a young asian lady identified herself as being from Virgin Media with some sort of loyalty deal. Asked for 2nd and 4th letters of my password. Refused to give info like that over the phone, as well as info for the two next 'backup questions' she had. She then rang off.

Immediately rang Virgin Media on 150 to check and the lady I spoke to their said she could see an entry on my file that someone from their outbound sales team had just rang, about 10 minutes earlier, but couldn't confirm the number they rang from, as it can vary.

Explained it's 'okay' to give a couple of letters from the password, as that's all the sales team have, whereas the inbound team have the full password in front of them. Talk about security holes!

Couldn't be passed through to the sales team to ask what it was about, but 'confirmed' it was legitimate.

Despite that, I have no intention of giving person details out to inbound cold calls, have blocked the number, and think Virgin Media's directors need a basic security lesson.

    Shocking.

Have received a call from this number they wanted my pin number and asked what TV package I have.  I told them that if they were from Virgin they would have the details up in front of them.  The offered me £5 off all 0800 numbers (thought they were free anyway), when I told them to send me details through the post they seemed quite offended.  I asked them outright if they were from Virgin or from a third party, they refused to answer so I terminated the call.  I contacted Virgin Media and they are investigating this for me, but also told me to contact my bank to make sure they have not tried to get money from my account.  Also a 'flag' has been put on my account which will act as an alert to any abnormal activity taking place.

Been getting calls from these people the last 2 days. Problem being ......I'm nightshift and dont want to be woken! I always choose no marketing calls. I phoned 150 and reported the calls, they had no record of me being called by Virgin. Was asked to wait 24 hours to allow system to be updated. Within 2 mins of the call to 150 the suspicious call came again. Anyway, got the woman to "prove" she was from Virgin and she gave her name and Virgin ID no. also that she was based in the Phillipines. Phoned 150 back and they recognised the womans name and ID and also confirmed that Virgin had call centres in the Phillipines.
So seems to be legitimate, but really poor service from Virgin, the fact that so many people think its a scam caller suggests they've made a bad decision putting this call centre in the Phillipines.

    I hate unsolicited callers
Just had a call from this number (8:30pm) - who the hell do they think they are phoning so late!! I have 2 small children who were in bed and no-one rings after that time, so very glad the phone didnt wake them up. Called it back and it is Virgin Media (or at least the recorded message says it is) - I have home phone and broadband with them, but I know they have mailed about an increased broadband allowance for no extra cost. However, if I wanted it, I'd contact them!!

i was getting a call from this number 3 times a day. never answered lol. put them on block, they rang about 6 times after that and then stopped. its funny because my number is O2, but i was on virgin for a while. btw for people saying its genuine because they have your info, that just means your in trouble. they will never ask for a password.
