Have had several calls on my mobile from this number.  Interesting if they are Virgin Media as I have a landline with them and they normally ring on that.  Have been ignoring the number though as I had the impression it was someone trying to sell me something - having read some of the other posters' comments, I'm glad I didn't answer :-)

I am sick of being pestered at work, at home, every day at 3.00 in the afternoon!
If I want services, I am old enough to search them out when I want them.  In fact, nuisance calls only push that supplier off my list of providers to look into!

In fact, I will move my custom from Virgin Media to Sky.

You are supposed to add your own number to TPS not the number that calls you ! 0_o
I am registered with TPS but I still get sales calls, you just got lucky sooo far.

TPS seems to be considered somewhat of a joke, read up on it here: http://users.powernet.co.uk/hack/junk/prefserv.html

I'm with Virgin and just went through 2 months of the worst customer service and engineer incompetence, lies and fobbing off, followed by desperate promises and grovelling when I cancelled all my services. I stayed with them just 'cos it was easier and they promised a big discount (which has yet to appear!) ...if it's them bothering me 3 or four times a day, I'll seriously consider cancelling again.

Ironic there's an ad for virgin on this page...

Just had a very annoying call from a foreign woman, claiming to be from Virgin Media, she seemed to be putting on a very bad American accent.  She also kept calling me Ma'am which is guaranteed to wind me up.
She refused to accept that I was not prepared to discuss anything with her be it TV, phone, broadband or mobile phone and if I wanted to change any of my packages I would instigate the process.  I repeated this very politely but firmly and was then told that the call was being recorded!!

It took at least 3 more repetitions for the message to sink in.  Several times it seemed that she went away to ask someone else what she should be saying as though I was going off script.

    Really Really Annoying.

Having spent a good part of my day off dealing with nuisance calls to my landline from Swinton Insurance (01422249611)  and E Car Insurance (01173142850) - see appropriate postings elsewhere on this site, I'm now getting bothered on my mobile no. by these Virgin creeps!

So email off to them too, for anyone totally p****d off with these I'd suggest you email their PR person:

    sara.doggett@virginmedia.co.uk

    Text of my email below:

    VIRGIN MEDIA  sent Wednesday 22.6.2011

FOR ATTENTION OF SARAH DOGGETT, PR & MARKETING EXECUTIVE.

    WITHOUT PREJUDICE.

    Dear Ms Doggett,

for some weeks now I have been receiving unsolicited direct marketing calls from Virgin Media's no. 0800 408 9341, to my personal mobile phone no. ......... I maintain this PRIVATE number for my convenience not that of Virgin nor any other direct marketing organisation.

I have requested these calls cease but with no success to date. I don't know if you're the correct person to contact nor do I care, just get these calls stopped before I seriously escalate matters very much to the detriment of Virgin Media.

The callers always ask for Mr ......., who is the main account holder, not me and this is my mobile no. not his. I am unable to access my personal details for my account as this allows the main account holder only to do so, but so far as I am aware I have not given either my personal mobile no. to Virgin, nor the permission to contact me for the purposes of direct marketing. Mr ........ has attempted to access this information tonight but is being denied access, as that part of the site appears to be down.

Our landline has been continually dogged with nuisance calls since we moved to Virgin Media, with over 30 Spam numbers logged to date, and numerous witheld number calls. It now seems I am to be afforded no privacy either on  my personal mobile no. This is intolerable, and seriously calls into question the
viability of our continuance as Virgin Media customers.

I therefore require there are no further nuisance calls to my mobile number ...... and our landline no. .......... These are now both registered with the TPS.  Delete these numbers from your marketing agent's databases with immediate effect.

You must be aware that these intrusions are criminal offences, when it having been requested that they cease, they instead continue. They are breaches of the Telecommunication Act 1984 (as amended) & the Harassment Act 2000 (as amended). Therefore any further such calls will be subject to a formal complaint to the Information Commissioner, and be the subject of my obtaining a Crime No. from the Duty Inspector of the local Police in respect of legal action being taken against the Directors of Virgin Media.

If I get just one more call, you will see that I mean business,

Tell them to hang on for a few minutes, then just leave the phone of the hook. Maybe, they will get the message.

Also try the telephone preference service

Keep on getting calls from 08004089341 - on mobile and Virgin land line. I never answer it. Why are they calling? Is it Virgin sales team.

    Virgin Media customer
This IS a call from Virgin Media - their new business telesales team.  I am a customer who is on their full TV/phone/web package, so there nothing for them to sell me. Yet this number has been calling me daily for over a week now.

I answered once and the guy said he was from VM but, like other customers here, I got a bit dubious of his integrity, as he didn't sound genuine, and didn't have all the facts.

I have called VM today on other matters about poor service and high charges, but asked them to verify the number.  The operator confirmed that the number, 08004089341, IS ONE OF THEIRS !!   He said that he will have them stop calling me.

Poor service, apalling helpdesk quality, high charges - and now stupid telesales activity, calling existing customers who don't need anything (apart from a cheaper, more reliable service).   How dumb.
    SKY, here I come !!!

Got a call on my non-virgin mobile this afternoon from an Indian guy on this number, asked for me by name and then when confirmed said he was calling from Virgin.  When I said angrily if that's so 'why are you ringing me on my mobile and not on my home number' he said sorry and hung up.

I can't recall giving Virgin my mobile number as I am very careful with any and all my personal information, I'm the kind who actually does read the privacy statements and conditions on the web and have learnt to lie about everything unless it is absolutely unavoidable.  So how he got my number I'm not sure.  As it is I'm emailing Virgin to ask if it really was them and if so to not do it again.

I contacted Virgin to query this number and to request they arrange 'Permanent Number Conceal' which they display prominently on their website and to make my land line ex-directory.

They arranged ex-directory but the Indian lady said they could not arrange 'Permanent Number Conceal' as it was not a service they provided.  I pointed out they do as the details are prominently displayed on their website, she said she had looked on the website and they didn't, yawn, I directed her to the correct page to which she could not reply except to say although the fact was plainly in front of her eyes, it was not a service they provided, I put in a complaint.

As for the 0800 number she said it was not them and told me the obvious, not to give them any information.  I said I would like to know, if as she was saying it was nothing to do with them, this was a really serious issue because they seemed to know my and others account details bar the bank account number, how could this be?  She could not answer except to say 'sign up to The Telephone Preferential Service' which I said I already had years ago but since changing to Virgin I had been getting, much to my annoyance, unsolicited numbers.

I thanked her for her service but put in another complaint.
