    Same number called me.  From past experience they want to sell you insurance for your Sky equipment incase it goes wrong.  Dont be tempted.  The insurance generally starts with low premiums £7.50 pm and gets more and more each year.  A call out from SKY costs £65.00 and they have to replace or service any equipment you have as part of the service call therefore the insurance is not cost effective unless you call SKY out more than once a year and if its for a recurring fault argue the point and dont pay twice.  The SKY engineer pointed this out to me and told me just before my warranty ends to put in a service call.  Pretend something is wrong and get new equipment there and then. I think SKY must get some sort of kick back from D&G for each policy they sell as they have taken to doing this aggressive marketing.  Im annoyed that SKY must have given them my mobile number without my permission.  Being registered with the telephone preference service to stop these calls is a complete waste of time.

    I'm astonished at how naive a lot of people are. This is little to do with Sky themselves but is from agents who work for Domestic and General on a self employed basis and are paid on commission. How it works is that calls are made to numbers at random, by computer controlled software, and when a call is answered the agent then picks up that call to try to sell you insurance.

    The reason you get silence on the other end sometimes is because the agent has picked up another call that has been answered. The computers can ring thousands of numbers a day and an onscreen alert tells the agent when a call has been answered. Just ignore them, or if you use a smartphone use a free call blocker like Call Control on android (Play) market.

    These agents, being self employed, don't really worry about any rules and insurance companies are always looking for "work from home" people like this. Report them and they will tell you they have dismissed the agent, but another one will take their place. Get the number blocked and Domestic and General will simply order a new one. These insurance companies can be fined thousands of pounds if prosecuted, but they're earning millions a year. A bit like fining me and you £5. so you're wasting your time getting worked up about it, just ignore them or block them.

    P.S. if your equipment does break down you will often find that Sky will replace it free rather than lose a customer, but if that doesn't work you can pick the boxes up for peanuts on ebay.

    Just got call on my mobile, didn't know number so didn't answer, no message left. Glad I didn't answer after seeing the above as it seems a marketing call.

    Add me to the list. Didn't answer the call after all who rings FROM an 0800 number.
    The more people ignore them the greater the chance that they will give in.
    The phone is not a god to be obeyed whenever it rings. If the call is important the caller will leave a message

    Had two calls over two days from this number, no message left - recently had sky installed.....so matches the profiles above.

    Since these imbeciles give out their number,  go to the ofcom website and log an official complaint.  I got a silent call from them.  If everyone registers their complaint officially that is the only way to bring them down once and for all... with a chunky  7 figure ofcom fine.  Even better if sky are proved to be complicit.  As a telephony provider they will be very heavily punished.

    These people claim to represent Sky and said the warranty on our Sky box has run out (we've only had it ten months) and would we like to insure it? They asked for our bank sort code which rang alarm bells straight away. Dodgy!

    I understand that Sky only insure the equipment for a year and if you need to have to call out an engineer after that time then their call out fee is £69.  Domestic & General are trying to sell us insurance so if we have to call out an engineer we are not charged.  but it works out about £100 a year.  I was quite shocked to learn that I would be charged for call out after a year as this never used to happen a few years ago and Virgin do not charge for it.  It is also not made plain when one takes out a contract with Sky.  My daughter who was going to go with Sky instead of Virgin changed her mine because she was in the room with me when I phoned Sky about these calls I had been having.

    Love Digital DO provide insurance, through them directly (in that they set it up) Love Digital do my SKY as I live on a high-ish floor on a flat.

    The insurance is not Domestic and General. D&G call once at the end of a genuine policy and call on behalf of themselves NOT as Sky.

    I am at work and just saw this missed call. I am sick of this. No calls for ages but since re-connecting my SIM/phone after losing it (it was in the States, not used, in a small establishment, so no, there is no identity issue there - point simply being that within 24 hours of reconnecting the "line" it started) there have been... let me check.... 6 tele-calls.

    1 was allegedly from 3, 1 was allegedly from British Gas and 4 silent calls, including this one. I give up. I was not going to change my number but now I am sorely tempted.

    here is the solution to stop the calls repeatedly calling you every 5 minutes. I had been receiving calls every day for the past two months, so eventually I thought enough was enough as I was so fed up of this I passed my phone over to my boss and said to tell them I had died!!! my boss came up trumps and answered the call stating that he was "stuart" as the chap went through his call my boss told him he loved to watch porn on his phone and did the chap think that was okay to do if so did he think it was okay to send dirty pictures to his missus. The chap on the phone was laughing away so much my boss then told him he had the wrong person on the call and by then the chap who was calling hung up and has never called again, problem solved.
