It is when someone sends you a text from a mobile to a landline.  Most phones can only tranmit this as a 'voice text'.  The phone will keep ringing until get the voice text or  you dial 1571 to retrieve it.

even after cancelling the service you may still be getting the ring, this is due to not clearing the outstanding message(s) held for you, If you are only receiving silence followed by hanging up TURN YOUR ANSWERPHONE OFF. This then allows the message to come through. This was posted earlier by someone else but seemed to get missed. I had six silent calls, turned answerphone off and next call came through properly allowing me to delete the messages and cancel the service.

08005875290 - called 4 times between 1am and 3.45 new years day morning - really annoyin when you've got guests staying over - no-one there when you answer it

We have had a few calls, is there any computer geniuses out there who can find out who these pests are, and maybe give them a taste of there own medicine

I have had a number of annoying / garbled messages from this number.  I know that "Who Calls me" can often be a mine of useful info. So I entered the number given by Shaz. ( to whom I offer my thanks),and have now switched off SMS. We will see how it goes. I am also going to give Bert,s suggestion a whirl. So thanks for your help folks.

keep  calling but no one there . am getting very annoyed

The number you have provided does not connect to BT sales, please dont post useless information.

Returning the call only brought up a short recorded message saying to visit a certain BT web page, but I couldn't find anything on that page to retrieve the text.

This number keeps phoning me and hanging up.

9 phone calls in the past hour ! Wouldn't be so bad but it was after 10pm !!! Not only that I am ex directory and 3 voices texts later we had defiantly proved it was bt but ... Voice text number 4 was the most disgusting filth I have heard . Yes it was from a mobile number but funny how it was at the same time bt was leaving them on my machine !! I never ever ever have had any voice texts before. I phoned by to complain on the only number I could find open to which the lady assured me that I could speak to the proper dept which when asked twice if that line was open she replied yes ! Lying cow ! Annoyed yes majorly !

If someone from by would like to come and listen to the message I have on my phone I have it saved ! But as I doubt they even care I shall be phoning the nuisance line tomorrow ( that's if they are actually open Saturdays) and some poor bu** will be getting the rant at full throtle . If the calls continue through the night there will be severe trouble !

This number is just an SMS service for every phone provider.If this number called you then someone has sent a text to your residential number.It will keep calling you till you receive the message.Its free of charge and you just listen to an automated message when you pick up.

Hi kate,If you are receiving nusiance messages then someone who has your number is texting them to you.Its nothing to do with Bt its just an Sms service they provide free of charge.Hope this helps you sort it out.

Phone ringing before 9.a.m sat morning, it woke me up, I managed to catch it, there was an automated garbled message, all I could pick out was what sounded like my single name, (surname) which hasn't been in use for 12 years, I have no relatives that I know of still living.
I do not have a bt line I dialled 1471 to get caller number, 08005875290 no message left on 1571, up to now, 45 mins later, no more phone calls.

Was phoned with this number @ 07:00 this morning on my day off, not got a clue who it was and got the message saying you have a BT text go to the BT website to read this message?

i got a call from 08005875290 at 8.27 this morning. whoever it was left a message. it was a little muffled, but it was numbers.and sounded like:8440016.

Don't want unknown callers from his number 08005875290. Will call BT tomoorrow.
