- BABS replies to Gethin Parry-Roberts| 2 repliesEXCUSE ME! HOW RUDE! I HAVE NEVER HAD A DEBT IN MY LIFE. THERE IS NO REASON WHY A DEBT COLLECTOR SHOULD BE PHONING MY NUMBER (WHICH I HAVE HAD FOR THE PAST 12 YEARS)
- Markus| 1 replyThis is the BT SMS Text Delivery Service, it calls you when someone sends a text message to your landline, BT read it to you (via a computer).
- Caller: BT SMS Text Delivery Service
- Call type: Text message
- Annoyed replies to MarkusI like Gordon, earlier on in this thread, had opted out of these annoying and harassing messages.
I checked after getting one. I am still opted out.
I am not a BT customer. I phoned BT. I got a foreigner with poor English. They insisted I call My provider . Despite confirming that I was opted out. I know being an IT professional that BT have to fix it. It is their database!
My Provider suggested I complain to Ofcom 0300 123 3333
They were very helpful and suggested I write to BT complaining, They are breaking the Data Protection act as well as the Protection form Harassment act. At lease it seems that way.
I urge everyone to complain. There is definitely a fault on their system. So please Complain

- Edmund| 5 repliesDial 0800 5875252 option 5 will turn off the text
- sdfgh| 1 replyThis number calls me quite a lot and getting more and more frequent. There is no answer and tonight it rang again immediately after ending one of their calls. It started this week with no explanation. I don't think it's texts as they come straight to my phone which is text compatible and are read out. I've been with BT since moving house last Autumn. I'll be phoning BT to complain but whenever I complain about any calls they simply say they originate overseas and can't do anything about it. They actually employ a team of people to say they are useless.
- Caller: unknown
- sdfghok just called BT Nuisance Call Advice Line on 0800 661 441, and they said it is someone sending blank text messages to my number. He put me through to some options and I turned text services off. I didn't want to do this but already had time controls. It's a shame I couldn't turn off alerts and arrange to pick up my messages when it suits me.

- PerkinsRang early in the morning whilst in bed.
- Gill| 1 replyI have called this number and a message says I have been called by BT SMS. So I guess someone has sent a txt to my landline by mistake instead of my mobile!
- chriskeep getting this number calling but no one there. damn annoying
- Ms Cozmik| 3 repliesAs everyone else has said, it's the BT SMS service. I was getting 6 plus calls per day yet I have never agreed to this service. To change the the frequency of these calls, phone 0800 587 5252 and press option 1. You will then be given a number of different 'curfew' options.
If you want to stop these calls altogether, you should then choose option 5.
I did this during the evening and have not had another call since.- Caller: BT SMS

- GordonOn 10th May I posted here to say I had called BT on 0800 077 771 and they had assured me that calls from their SMS service were stopped, I would not receive any more.
They lied! I've had several today, all from 0800 587 5290. A stupid, badly recorded, robotic voice. I can speak fluent Klingon and Dalek - this just annoyed me.
I called them again, massive apologies, once they realised I am not a BT customer and work with two OfCom departments on a regular basis.
Calling 0800 587 5252 confirmed that I am already opted out, I have requested that they remove my number totally from all BT systems... The lady i spoke to has recorded that I called and have promised that I will take them to court if I receive one more call from their system. See if that does the trick!
Had to put 'Prank Call' below - no option offered for what I class it as.- Caller: BT SMS
- Call type: Prank
- BobJust been woken up by this number, we both have elderly parents so can't switch the phone off at night.
Very annoying, don't see why I should pay to block this number.- Caller: Claims BT

- Lisa Hall| 1 replyIt is a text message from BT
If you don't want to get BT Text messages on your home phone, call the automated BT Text Options service on 0800 587 5252. You can control the "curfew time", or turn off messages altogether from the Curfew menu.- Caller: BT

So if someone has sent me a text how do I get it ? - Joan CThis number called me afternoon of August 19 2010 when I answered it all I could make out was that there was a message for me and to hear it to press1 which I did it but could not make out a word as it was garbled. I was called again at around 10 am August 20 it rang off after 3 rings but when dialling 1471 this same. number came up I hung up.
