Report a phone call from 08005875290 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- Moffers| 1 replyIt is the BT SMS text message service. In order to opt out of it, you need to phone 0800 587 5252 and choose "change call times" and then press option 5. This, hopefully, will stop the calls coming. Mine was an appointment reminder from my dentist who used to just send a reminder card. I assume it just keeps ringing until you finally get fed up and pick up the phone. Bloody annoying!
- Caller: BT

- topsy replies to MoffersI don't get this as I had a call from this number this morning and was convinced that I had already disabled.
Just rang BT and it confirmed that I have opted not to receive txts at any time...so why the call???!!! - kenneth john kershaw| 1 replysix phone calls during the day and one at 9.45 pm
nobody there when i answered the phone so annoying - rob replies to Margaret jonesthe reason you get this is because when someone sends you a text message and the BT system cannot reconise the character the SMS Text message will fail. The SMS text message that you then get is a mesage to let you know that it has not been able to send the message and the number that calls you is 8005875290. What you needs to then do is call 08456021111 and they may be able to give you some information about who sent it. You then need to call the person that sent you the original text message and tell them to check their messages to make sure there is no content that BT SMS Text reading system will not reconise.

For attention of Sir Michael Rake
Can you please explain why your company sends SMS Text messages from BT.Com using 0800 587 5290 ?
This message was asking me to sign up to the sms network on my own phone.
I DO NOT RENT FROM BT But use *********for all of my services.
I have also signed up to the Tps and do NOT want your companies unsolicited calls to my home phone- How do I get you to stop?
Do I have to take this issue to court to get you to refrain from making these calls?
I wonder if I will even get a reply :) - Charmsy replies to Geo 51Thanks for that...this is driving me insane...just hope it works!!
- Wesley DopsonI do not want unsolicted messages sent to me and my number is ex-directory and yet I recieve these calls from a BT SMS service. Who are these people calling me? I do not want these types of calls.

- GordonHad several calls from this number, nobody there. Googled, found this site. I had already opted out and checked by calling 08005875252. It confirmed my number and said I had chosen not to receive sms at any time.
I called BT customer service 0800800150 and they advised me to call 0800077771, That's the number you need to call if you have opted out but still get these calls.
The guy there was not particularly on the ball at first but eventually understood that I was not a BT customer and had previously opted out of this service.
He said he had manually taken my number out of their system and I would not receive any further calls, but please allow up to 48 hours for this to action on their system.
We will see...- Caller: BT

- Gethin Parry-Roberts| 3 repliesFor God's sake peeps, plenty of people have already posted who or what this number is. It's a text to speech service provided by a third party telecom provider (Kingston Comms). If someone (anyone) sends a text to your landline number using this service it automatically calls you and a synthesized voice reads the message to you. Nobody's 'fault'. It's just a service - though frequently used by certain debt collection companies who figure on this web site a lot. Solution - pay your bills.
