My friend is a midwife in Glasgow royal infirmary & this is the number she calls me from.

i have had this number few times and ignored it, checked online and found this forum well it must be generic NHS and not just Glasgow as im up in Montrose and come under NHS Tayside. Thank goodness for this forum i will now answer it when it comes up again.

Had a call in the North of Scotland, they did not speak so did not pick up the phone.

I have not had any dealing with the doctor or hospital so not expecting any calls from them.

This is the new reminder call back number for people with appointments, I know cos I have an appointment and called the number on my appointment letter and they confirmed that it is them, so that they can make sure people are going to be at their appointment or not and if not rearrange thus helping reduce waiting times.

As I have an appointment and had been ignoring this number, like I do with all unknown numbers, I checked it out and its genuine.

Out of curiosity, had anyone signed up to any particular recruitment agencies prior to receiving this call?

I ask because I have never received calls from this number until now, right after signing up to recruitment agencies.

I know someone who works at a recruitment agency that makes up fake reasons to call potential candidates to check them out.

Does anyone have a legit link showing it is the legitimate NHS number?

Received a total of three missed calls from this number and was unable to return the call as does not accept incomming phone calls - managed to answer it today to find it was a reminder service from the NHS regarding my sons hospital appointment

I am expecting an appointment from the NHS so when I came home and discovered that this number 08006783393 had called, I attempted to call them back only to be told that  this number does not accept incoming calls.  I know that this number belongs to the NHS but I do not know which hospital or department this number belongs to.  

Best to check with your GP's surgery.

Phone rings - this number.  Answer the call.........
Me: Hello?
Voice: Hello? Dr Mc.......?
Me: Sorry, who?
Voice: Hello? Dr McPherson?
Me: No, sorry, you have the wrong number
Voice: Oh ok, sorry.  *Phone goes down*

Phone rings 10 seconds later - same number, different voice
Me: Ahhh Hello?
Caller: Hello, Dr McPherson?
Me: No, you have the wrong number.  
Caller: Oh, sorry......*phone goes down*

Phone immediately rings again - same number, different voice AGAIN!
Me: Yes?
Caller: Hello, is that Dr McPherson?
Me: Erm, for the 3rd time, No, I'm not Dr McPherson
Caller: Oh she's must have changed her number
Me: How about not, I've had this number, the same number, for 15 years! Dr McPherson definitely does NOT have this number!  

Phone number now blocked!  Once is a mistake, twice, taking the mickey a bit, 3 times is taking the piss!

I got one last night 20/1/14 sounds like a Dundonian woman " This number doesn't take incoming calls" Love to know where they got my mobile number from?

Has called twice in three days then immediately hangs up. Returned call to be greeted with " This number does not accept incoming calls.

Whatis the point of the Telephone Preference Service? my phone rings all fay with marketing calls
