I CALLED HSBC DIRECTLY FROM THE NUMBER ON THEIR WEB SITE, THEY STATE THIS IS NOT THEIR CALL CENTRE NOR DO THEY RECONISE THE CODE GIVEN TO ME
DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY DETAILS!!!!! - kat4 missed calls in 4 hrs. I've answered my mobile to this number once and the line was open but nobody spoke!
- Andy SmithThis number calls several times a day and when I answer it they hang up.
- AnnoyedResponse to Clare............I know exactly where you are coming from Clare. That story definatley rings a bell. Having had a family member put into so much debt with HSBC, they changed banks and have never looked back as the help from the new bank was tremendous and they didn't make demands nor have they pestered in any way. I'm sick to the back teeth of them also, and if you complain they just say sorry. Not acceptable on my terms, not considering the problems we have got were created by them anyway. Does that sound familiar to you!!!!! Good luck to you and make them wait. Don't blame you for not answering their calls. I think they are rude and arrogant and ROBOTS. springs to mind. Yes do keep this page going with messages, I hope they read it. I am also considering changing our number, then they can get lost once and for all.
If anyone wants to make a written complaint like I have done (more than one) you can do it by writing to.........
The Manager. Service Quality Team, HSBC Bank plc, Arlington Business Centre,Millshaw Park Lane, Leeds. LS11 0PP or email servicequality@hsbc.com
Hope this helps everyone who wishes to lodge their complaint.Hope his/her desk is piled high with complaints.- Caller: HSBC IDIOTS
- PaulieI got a call from them today too, they left a msg but there was no body talking!! I presume this is a scam of some sort, really unprofessional..Never ever give security details out!!
- omiI just got called by them and asked my DOB.
When I asked why they called, they said it was for Home and Car Insurance.
If they knew my DOB, they would have realised that I'm too young to actually own either a car or a house.
Highly Dubious.
In any case, I rickrolled them and they hung up- Caller: "hsbc"
- GuestI've had this number ringing around 3-4 times a day. Haven't asnwered one of them yet, and not reading this i don't have too.

- CarlHSBC The bank that likes to get you in debt and then leave you out to dry on your own. These guys need a taste of their own medicine and they really need to change the attitude problem they have. Dislike to talking to a robot who reels out a speech that is on a computer screen that they sit in front of. Don't they no how to speak to people. Its just like a pre recorded tape that they play over and over again as the voice never changes. Glad to have found this page about them. will visit it again. well worth it and glad that I am not alone.

- PaulaThese guys are persistent to say the least! More to the point annoying!!
They have a seriously lack of understanding that giving security details to someone who sounds Indian/American and you don’t know who they are or what they want is a cause for concern. They wouldn’t tell me what it’s regarding only saying it’s personal, but after reading this page I can see it is HSBC.
My experience with HSBC has ended unpleasantly after nearly 10 years of banking with them, I have moved my account following their complete incompetence to fix the mistakes they have repeatedly made. I’m sure if it’s that urgent they will put something in the good old fashioned snail mail!- Caller: HSBC Collections
- Dr BThis number is genuine im afriad, although i still wouldnt give details out, due to good practice. Just hang up and ring your bank back on the local number.
We are HSBC Premier customers and had a call from this number, we told them to put it in writing and they refused, so after we hung up we rang our premier associate who then clarfied the issue. - Leannei have been getting 7-10 missed calls a day from this number 08007838422, they do not leave the line ringing no longer than 1 ring, therefore there is no time to answer the call anyway. these calls have affected my holidy as that is when they started and still present now around5-7 days onwards.
- KeithI m getting it too,, also from 0845 603 2821 which, when you ring it back gives you the same recorded message, "you were called from HSBC, no further action is required, you do not need to return the call"
- AnnoyedGuess what folks. I have had a reply to my complaints from the HSBC. I wasn't satisfied with the first "apology" so I wrote back and told them that it was just a standard effort and excuse of an apology. In reply to that would you believe that they have basically said that I am telling porkies about the nuisance calling. They have stated Quote....We do not find this to be a common problem...... I find this a bit of a strange reply as reading the pages on this site it appears to me and others that this is a common problem. I would love to hear any feedback coments. Please feel free to contact HSBC at the address/web site I posted above on 11th May. Then maybe they will realise that this IS a common problem. I no longer bank with these idiots although I don't think that they have realised that yet. I have gone to a decent bank with pleasant helpful staff who don't use overseas call centres

- JADEHad a missed call of this number today. I was also called from mum telling me that HSBC fraud protection line was trying to get in touch with me and told be to call 08456081878. I called them back and stupidly gave my bank details to them. the went through transactions that i had made in last few days and then they told me that is was a random security check and that my card was fine.
I then called a number from the HSBC website to try and get confirmation that the call was legit. He told me that there was no evidence of the call of the system but told me that the number I called was the HSBC fraud protection office number. I think i am still going to close the account and open a new one.- Caller: HSBC
- AnnoyedIf it helps any of you with regard to the HSBC pestering phone calls pay OFCOMS webste a visit and register their 08007838422 number as a complaint on the silent/nuisance link. I have done this and although OFCOM will not get back to you, they do keep a log of all complaints made. I have a feeling that somewhere along the line HSBC might be making some errors after reading all the information on OFCOMS very informative and interesting site.
Stuff the HSBC. After years of banking with these brazen idiots who always like to think they are right I have left them on a very sour note and they can swivel on their finger. What a disgraceful shambles.- Caller: HSBC IDIOTS
- KateI have recently been having calls from this number also and they have been very threatening over the phone towards me.
My bank account is in debt but only through their fault and being called like this and asking for personal details is not on!!
I agree with all the comments, you can't understand a word they say and refuse to listen to you when you want to put your point across.
It's very bad service and I have no hesitation in closing my account once i have complained a bit more.- Caller: HSBC
- KateI have just this second had a call from them on my mobile phone(the third call today) and my father answered, they wouldn't speak to him and said they'd send me a letter... famous last words!!
- Caller: HSBC Idiots again
- kidme too i got called from this number like two times
- mavenI just received a call from this number, gave my DOB and confirmed my address and telephone contact details. The caller was an idian woman and indeed sounded like it was an out-sourced call centre in Asia.
Once the call ended, I looked at the number on my mobile and thought that was rather an odd experience. So, I went online and simply googled the number.

I chose the link above to investigate and got rather worried as so many people were receiving this call and were submitting their own evidence and opinions on the subject.
After reading this website, I immediately had enough and called HSBC.

NOTE: All HSBC calls are recorded using VOIP technology for training & security. NEVER provide your ENTIRE security code.
After providing the agent with elements of my security details, I informed her that I believed I had become a victim of fraud. I told her my story along with the suspect telephone number 0800-783-84022. She patiently listened to me then asked me to wait on hold while she investigated the situation.
As a result, she could confirm that I had been called by HSBC. The called was of a marketing nature and was purely to confirm my custom contact details.
--- THE CALL FROM 0800 783 8422 IS A LEGITIMATE HSBC NUMBER ---
As shocking as the experience was, she asked me if I would not like to be cold called like that in the future, to which I gave my consent.
Don't believe all the nonsense from people saying it is a scam, they're just idiots trying to continue the awkward experience for people. Get a life you lot and see some sense. Personal financing is a serious matter for everyone and should be treated as such.
For the record, the agent to whom I spoke to was polite, patient and helpful. Check out Barclays customer service and you'll see why I moved to HSBC. :)
