Good Friday - Bank Holiday- 08.15am 0800 783 8422 calls my mobile "Hello This is James from HSBC" in what sounded like a very long distance call - Who? "Hello This is James from HSBC" - Yeh right, and I'm the easter Bunny ! - Go Forth and Multiply! Fecker!

Why Would HSBC call me at 08.15am on a BANK HOLIDAY ?

I've just applied for an HSBC current account and received a call from this number. I ignored it as I had received scam calls in the past from people claiming to be from HSBC.   I rang HSBC's general UK customer ,who confirmed the number was genuine, as was the number they asked me to call back on - 03456019603. You can provide name and postcode to this number risk free so they can talk to you.

Received three calls back to back from this number today (29-03-21), I answered the third call, he told me he was from HSBC and gave me my date of birth correctly, then proceeded to ask for additional info which at that point I said I would not, so he said goodbye politely and hang up?

I received a call from this number yesterday, very mysterious and wanted to know my postcode. When I asked for more details about the caller and why I was told to ring back on the same number. After apparently disconnecting the call I noticed that the call was still live so I switched my phone off and called the customer service number on the back of my card when I got home. They could not see any information about anyone from HSBC contacting me. So I am supposing this is a scam.

Line went dead when I gave my number.  I do bank with a bank owned by HSBC but I have asked not to receive advertising/offers by phone.  When the bank really needed to contact me (because a statement was incorrectly 'returned to sender' by the post office) they didn't bother to pick up the phone and get in touch, they just closed the account.....
