This man said he was calling from HSBC and asked me to go through security questions...

i have been called on this number by first direct, i declined being taken through security and offered to ring in and sort out.
i called them and they said i have been called but then said they now need to call me back! that was 10 mins ago and still no call back.

It's just HSBC lads. Nothing to worry about.

I had an answer message left on my home phone pretending to be Stefan from John Lewis. When I got back from my relaxing walk minus mobile phone I had 2 missed calls pretending to be from John Lewis. I have barred the number on my home phone (Talk Talk do free call barring). I have also barred them on my mobile. i have zero tolerance towards scammers..Go get a decent job like the rest of us, and stop trying to rip us off our hard earned cash.

This number called my personal mobile. I did not answer. Then it immediately phoned my landline. Again I didn’t answer. Then immediately it phoned my work mobile. Again I didn’t answer.. I have now blocked the mobiles but unsure how to block landline.

HSBC but a silent call

Genuine HSBC call.  I didn't recognise teh number so let it go to voicemail, but it was my relationship manager who then sent me a follow up email as they were not able to get hold of me on my Mobile.

An Indian sounding woman called Hiral, purporting to be from HSBC asked me to go through security, date of birth / Co name. She claimed I got a question wrong, and would sms me. No SMS arrived. Looks like scammers.

This is a scam.Caller purported to be from John Lewis and asked me to confirm my date of birth. I refused and hung up.Checked with John Lewis and it is a scam

I have 2 missed calls from this number.when I call back they say it is HSBC and no further action is required.
I don’t have a HSBC account

Said he was premier manager for HSBC. Due to a family death explained not a good time . Ended call. Scammer I think Definately

Strangely enough I was at HSBC and ignored it as I never answer any 08 numbers. When I got home I received an email from HSBC urgently needing to speak to me about my accounts and the info. they hold about me.  They gave me a number to call back, the account review officer is Catherine Llewellyn. Still not sure if it's a scam or not..

I rang HSBC as I couldn't access mobile banking. I was told I'd failed secuirty questions (my mobile number) and would be called back on the number they had on record, my mobile! I picked up from the number listed and was asked if I could be overheard and told to verify in another way, giving postcode and email address. I don't recall ever having to give email addresses as verification so I told them I'd visit a branch instead. John sounded Indian, but I can't be sure.

This number was blocked by my call blocker on my mobile twice as potential fraud.
Then the same number called on my land-line but failed to leave any message. I did not speak and the person just said hello, several times.
I have read that the number belongs to HSBC?! Also another reporter said it was John Lewis.
For safety reasons I have decided if it is important and genuine they can write to me instead.
I have read comments from this number from 2007 to 2017.

Genuine call following a complaint to the bank.

It IS HSBC. I rceived a text informing time & date of call. Genuine call.

I had a call from this number and just told them I could not answer any questions for security reasons. They told me to call my bank. I have phoned them and they have no record of the bank trying to call me.
That person who said he worked for bank must be some kind of idiot as the banks are always telling us not to answer questions from someone who phones up saying they are from the bank

Very wary but caller seemed genuine still unconvined tho husband gave dob is it time to panic
