Report a phone call from 08007838422 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- LucyI too was harrassed by this number, with sometimes over 10 calls a day, with the phone even ringing after 9pm. Everytime I answered the phone, there was no one on the line. I assumed it was a Sales Company, dialing multiple numbers, and teleoperatives only being available to respond to those, who picked up the receiver first. Finally having spoken to someone with a thick Indian Accent who I found difficult to understand, I understood that maybe the delay in being connected was due to the distance.
I am very much against answering 0800 numbers, and more concerned that even thought there is an urgency to obviously speak, to you, no one ever leaves a message.- Caller: HSBC
- L SpencerBasically I only get call from this number if I am over my overdraft and yes they are quite persistent, calling at least 2-3 times a day. It is always best to go to the HSBC website get the phone number and call the bank yourself. This way you know you are dealing with HSBC and you can sort out any issues or concerns the bank may have.
Sadly I dont see HSBC moving their phone centres to the UK.- Caller: HSBC
- Martine ParryYes - I am now getting lots of calls too from this number. I don't know what it is all about but I am unhappy about it as it seems that anyone you have an accoutn with these days is outbound selling to you and I don't like it - I'm sure that there is some way of getting rid of nuisance calls like this - besides being rude to the callers who after all are just doing their job - I always stop them from speaking and 1. tell them that if this is a courtesy call about my account then thanks but I am happy 2. ask them if they are selling something to me and if so I am not interested and 3. tell them that I have no time to talk to them and 'thank you goodbye'. It does work. I have had some multiple calls from other companies where I am not a customer and I tell them to remove me from their database forthwith. As for HSBC and the others strict practice of data protection - there must be a better way of making contact over genuine issues and if they are not genuine like some of the others posts make mention of (incorrect balances etc) then I'm sorry to say that there is either incompetence or malpractice at the heart of it and it needs to be reported to the ombudsman and then if it continues we should all get together and make sure it features in the UK mainstream press.

- JIMjust got a call from this number that I missed. Looked it up and found this page - which is a great page! I do use HSBC though, so it looks like it must have been related to that. Thanks for this page.
- Frankiehad 3 missed calls from them today, but was at work during all of them so didn't answer...with all the fraud going on with HSBC at the moment it's all a bit confusing!!! Especially as someone is calling around HSBC customers asking the same things that have been mentioned above...
- AndyI called my normal HSBC 24h banking line to report this call. They forwarded me to their Fraud department who told me my debit card and PIN had been compromised (but not stolen) and that a clone of my card was being used in Canada.
The Fraud department were able to describe my recent transactions so I was happy they are genuine.
They locked my card after an attempt was made to withdraw a large sum of money and they told me to contact my branch about any spurious transactions.
If in doubt, call HSBC on their usual 24h telephone banking number. - StuI'v been called by this number on numerous occassions over the last couple of months - every time I'd been driving or away from my phone or something until just now. Like many others I refused to give my details, then phoned HSBC straight back. After being on hold for 5 minutes I was directed to a woman with the vaguest sense of the English language ever - who told me HSBC weren't trying to get in touch with me (I think...) but I don't know what to believe because I've got Bank Account Plus and I'd been led to believe this gave me access to English only call centres, so something's not right.
This Indian woman from HSBC made me feel really bad for calling them anyway, as if I'd caused a big problem. She wouldn't take a note of the number that'd called me she was unhelpful and spoke down to me. What's going on here>?!!! - GardenerJust received an illegible call from Indian call centre, totally unable to decipher what they wanted, hung up.
My preferences for contact do not include telephone calls!- Caller: HSBC
- WillI had a call earlier on my mobile from someone calling from the HSBC. They said they had some 'important confidential information' regarding my account. The gentleman sounded African and asked for some personal information.
I told him I was sorry I couldn't give him said information and hung up, I'm seriously considering changing banks after this incident. Surely the HSBC should be aware of how these kind of calls can sound like their phishing. - LoopylassThis number just called our housephone and said they were calling from Marks and Spencer's community. The guy sounded Asian and it is quarter to nine in the evening. Definitley a scam, how can the number be HSBC once minute and M&S the next?
- rayi have been constantly harrassed by these people. Saturday and sunday calls as well. I refuse to give them any details and they hang up but the calls still keep coming. I'm sure theres a law which prevents them calling at unreasonable hours?
- FilipThey're calling and hanging up after a few seckonds.Seems they really want me to call them but after I've found this site I won't :).
And I'm a HSBC customer by the way. - Annoyed| 1 replyI get calls all the time from this number - I know my account isn't in great shape it would help if they stopped adding charges to my account. In one day I was charged £150 then a further £100 2 days later. You tell me who has £250 just floating around!!!! - they then have the ordacity to get somebody who can't speak English ring me to tell me my account is overdrawn well der!!! if you stopped charging me so much I wouldn't be so overdrawn and why do they ring you when they know you can't answer i.e when you are at work.
I get increasingly frustrated when they won't give you any indication as to why they are calling unless you give them your security information - I have on occassion given this out although not happy about but it is purely to stop the harassing phone calls. - Orange1878Called today despite specifically asking to be removed from contact list a few months back.
Being wise to line of questioning asked previously, I enjoyed an exchange with the operator insisting that they identify themselves and pointing out that they could not prove who he claimed to represent.
Wasted a good 15 minutes of his time and enjoyed the diversion from work!- Caller: hsbc
- lazHSBC have the most usefull staff i know... once a month when I have no money left and the stupid machien lets me go £300 past my overdraft I tend to get a phone call from this 08007838422, which is realy helpfull cos I get to talk to this wonderfull woman from some other contery where no-one can speak English - no offence to anyone but if you call me you best speek my language.
she sais great things like "Do you realise you have no money" Ha ha ha .... no ... Just wonderfull that some one takes the time to phone me 6 days after my card stops working to tell me I have no money... then to charge me for it, hay whos machien let me have the damn money???
Then she asks one of thoes great questions, a wonderfull question. you see Im paid on the 25th of each month, every month on 25th. and this woman is ment to know about my account
"So, When you have funds put in your bank?" ...
I DONT F'IN KNOW
so I tell her the 25th
"and how much will these funds be sir?"
now how the hell do i know that... Over time, Bonuses, Holiday pay, Bank holl's pay... I filled out my time sheet last month.... I never know how much Im going to get.
but i tell her Im not sure how much I will be getting from work this month but my pay from work comes in on the 25th and its always enough to get me back into the + numbers. .... you think thats the end of the chat??? ....
"Where do these funds come from on the 25th please sir"
WORK... you STUPID MONKEY WORK.... WHERE DO YOU THINK...
what is the point of me explaining that I get Money from my job on the 25th of each month If the stupid woman then asks where the money comes from.
so now i am broke again... and had a nice 0800 phone call this morning. Im quite upset im broke. because now, so is my phone.
anyone from HSBC reading this... for god sake stop ringing me. I dont want to talk to your forrien work force (sory but why put them on the phones when they cant speak english) I dont want to listen to some fool tell me Im broke, or ask me stupid questions which are obviously read out, like they actualy care. cos me i aint too bright, but if you just wait untill the 25 Ill be able to put some money back in your little pot.

Just F-OFF. - DanMy second post in this thread.
These people have been calling me 5 times a day for the last 233 months because I've been over my overdraft limit and couldn't tell them exactly when I would be able to pay in to cover. I have written 2 letters to HSBC offering a payment arrangement and asking them to deal with me by letter instead of the daily torture of trying to communicate with Bangalore / Singapore but both of my letters have been ignored and the constant phone calls continue.
Last week I finally paid in to cover and my account is now in credit. But do the phone calls stop? They do not!!! And today I finally answered one and asked "Why do you keep calling me when I paid in last week?" A slight stammer from the guy at the other end and then the line went dead.
I am devoutly praying that they will now finally sod off and leave me alone!!!
Terrible service HSBC. I will continue to use NatWest as my main bank.
***Never bank with anyone using foreign call centres.***- Caller: HSBC
- BillI get calls from this number sometimes up to 6 times a day.....I have sent HSBC a recorded delivery letter quoting the Protection from Harrassment Act 1997....They still keep on calling and have now committed a criminal offence...I suggest that you send a letter by recorded to the HSBC bank saying that you refuse their calls and that any made will be considered harrassment under the 1997 Protection From Harrassment Act and will be treated as such and say all communication MUST be made in writing....shocking behaviour if they are prepared to break the law...also send your complaint to Trading Standards, Office Of Fair Trading and The Financial Ombudsman Service write down all the calls you receive and the dates...
- elspockoMy better half called me at work today having had HSB calling me at home. They needed to speak to me urgently. I do not have an account with them. 1471 gives the number 02071339107 and the caller wanted me to call 08701504541. I do not support 0870 numbers and refuse to pay charges to these numbers if the number owner is the reason for the call.
Maybe its time to start a petition against these companies complaint departments and get the papers involved?- Caller: HSB
- DanMy 3rd post in this thread!
HSBC has continued ringing me from Bangalore several times a day even though I paid in to cover my overdraft last week and am now considerably in credit. I had been ignoring the calls but finally decided to answer and after the painful process of going through security with someone I can hardly understand, the adviser said the reason for the call was to ask why I had not paid in as I had promised. I got quite angry about this and asked her if she had access to my bank details as I paid in last week. She got a bit flustered, looked on my account and agreed that I had paid in. I asked her "Then what are you calling me?!!" She said it was a computer generated call and she couldn't help it! I got very angry and told her to make sure I didn't get called again. I then rang HSBC's Customer Relations department (use the usual HSBC number and go through the options) and complained to them (they are based in the UK). They apologised and said it wouldn't happen again and the calls have finally stopped ...
Meanwhile, my 2 letter and 2 emails have still not been responded to. I cannot believe how stupendously bad HSBC's customer service is and will not be using them in the future.- Caller: HSBC
- RyanHad many number of calls from these idiots (08007838422)in the HSBC call centre. Already spoke to them once and advised I knew my account was overdrawn and money will be in the account within a few days to clear the balance to which the lady on the phone was fine with and said she would put notes on my account to explain this and no one else should call me again regarding this matter. Yeah right the phone has never stopped ringing and everytime I answer the ignorant idiots just put the phone down. I am now in the process of lodging an harrasment case against the HSBC which will hopefully prevent these idiots from calling me again
