Report a phone call from 08007838422 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- Paul DI received a message on my mobile today from this number 0800 783 8422. Firstly an indian voice saying this a message for me from HSBC Fraud Prevention and then some music followed by a recorded message asking me to call the following number urgently 0845 6052324. This sounded very dodgy but was concerned and so rang hsbc through a contact number on their website, they transferred me to the fraud prevention unit who advised they had called me as they had to put a stop on my credit card as a company who I had hired a car from on holiday had try to put a transaction of £5,000 on it. Not sure if the company had made a mistake or were trying to be fraudelent but hsbc advised they had stopped the transaction going and my card was now usable again. So it is genuine although I am sure it could be dealt with better than leaving a prerecorded message on the phone.
- Caller: HSBC
- FED UP HSBC CUSTOMERi get them all the time , i've tried ringing another number and they say i can't discuss it over the phone eh. so i'm getting rid of the account and leaving them, plus my savings,
- Caller: hsbc
- kerryhaving been receiving these calls for about 3 months now, i have decided to find out who the caller actually was, as they only ring once, then hang up, as if to entice me to call them back, which i never do. I am really shocked to find out that it may be hsbc, and i seriously am thinking of also taking my custom elsewhere!
- nickyrecivig colls 5 times a day from this number.n
- DominicThis is HSBC. They ring upto 8 times a day including weekends. It is actually an overseas call centre. and normally shows up as 0800 7838422. But has also shown up as 0151 9348000.
Usually follows this pattern.
Call answered - call terminated after 10 seconds
Call answered - Can I speak with X?
- Can we take some security details?
- Why? Who are you?
- I cannot tell you until we confirm your details.
- What is it regarding?
- An urgent business matter.
I have eventually worked out who they are and why they are calling. As said it is HSBC and it is their collections department.- Caller: HSBC
- hopeless shite bankers companyWe have had these calls from hsbc got totally fed up so my wife went into out local bank and told them she was going to speak to the police about intimidating phone calls (we've done it before from someone else, the police/BT will prosecute on you behalf).
We're in the process of changing banks, credit card, etc. approx 6 different kinds of accounts including mortgage.
The only thing we have to do now is claim back all our charges for the last 6 years, at the moment thats frozen because all the banks have appealled against a ruling saying that the amount of charges is unlawful. Hopefully at some point we can have all our money back from these tossers and invite them all to a piss up. might make a film and send it to them, except they can't speak english. - ChloeHi all!
I just got a call from this number and typed it in google to find out who it was...I was amazed to end up here! It was a long shot!
So does anyone actually know why they call ??
Apparently, it seems they call when we overdraw... but what are they offering??
What are they trying to sell???
Thanks all for the input ! - AyhanBest way to make sure who they are is to ask them there full name and address and there manager name, say this phone call is recorded. That way their is more of a chance they tell you the correct name ect. Then say you will phone C/S and check they are guinine.
- JohhnyI too got this call today and google'd the number to find this page. What is strange is that i dont really have an active account with HSBC. There is a loan that i pay off through a debt recovery agency but that is all.
Anyway i got the call today and didnt give them my info, now i want to know what it is about but i cant actually find a number to call on the HSBC website because i am not a 'normal' customer and i dont have my card details etc.
So does anyone know the reason as to WHY they call? It seems from the other comments that they can call about anything.
Does anyone have a general number i can call HSBC on which doesnt require me to have a card number? - fedupIm fed up with HSBC over the limit fees. I've switch bank acounts. They have taken over £450 in fees already. If you go over the limit it's becuse you dont have any money. So guess what 'i'll charge you more money cause your don't have any'
I'm getting squeezed by food prices, gas prices, and ripp off bank charges. If they lost millions by getting involved in Dodgy subprime deals is not my fault.
They can stick there overdraft fees up their candy ass. - ElenaBest thing keep answering the calls and sending them to hell.
- John from Gloucester| 1 replyAn hour ago received a call from - supposedly HSBC. The accent was African and the polite lady asked me to confirm my date of birth. I asked her why I would want to do that, and she said that she was from HSBC and it was a security measure - prior to her being able to talk to me about the issue she called about. On asking her if she thought I was stupid - we seemed to have a phone line problem and the poor girl dissappeared.
I've just had another call from the same number, which my son answered - but no-one o the other end.
How annoying is this?
Does anyone know whether this is a Scam or just an inept bank? - EmmjjayGetting sick and tired of getting calls from this number, my mobile is ringing constantly, its bad enough when you cant hear on your mobile due to bad reception but when they are asking all sorts of security questions its a real pain. They said they needed to ask some security questions like my date of birth, I told them that being as it was them that had phoned me they should know all my details and if they need to contact me to do it by post in future.

- HSBC EX CUSTOMERThis is not a scam but a very inept bank. As you can see I am an EX CUSTOMER. Changed banks and never looked back apart from HSBC still on my back constantly with stupid letters that if they read the ones I have sent them there would be no need for. Have countless leaflets they keep sending about "being able to help" Toilet roll I think. Shove them and your bank as far as possible.
Fed up... 28th June. Yes I agree totally with your comments as I too have got my charges on hold and my total is higher. They are just hanging on to the interest. Funny how many of the other Banks have repaid a lot of there customers bank charges but not HSBC. Greedy that's what they are. No sorry.... they have got to pay for all the advertising they do everywhere you look. Too think they offer you money back if you have an online statement to save wasting paper HA HA pity they don't think about that when they send me 6 letters in one day. What a waste of paper..... Very good for the environment that they are trying to protect (going green) Don't make me laugh.... What a bunch of two faced hipocrits they are.- Caller: HSBC Hipocrits
- Bridget ParrishGet a call from this number on my mobile every day. If I answer it there is no one there.
When I ring the number back it's HSBC, but there is no way of leaving a message- Caller: HSBC
- HSBC Customer in LondonA message to the following people at HSBC: Mr. Brian Williamson, Mr. Simon Robertson, Mr. Brian Robertson, Mr. James Hughes-Hallett and Mr. Stewart Newton,
On Monday, I will close all of my business accounts with HSBC, for reasons of continued harassment despite a polite request to remove me from their call out list. I have £243,000 in my current business account and a £5000 overdraft facility.
Two weeks ago, I opened a new account with a different bank in preparation for our transition.
HSBC, you will never gain the respect of customers by displaying greedy, obnoxious behavior.

- John LiverpoolGot a call from this number today. There was no one at the other end when I answered the call. I ended up here when I googled the number. I am assuming that it must be HSBC by looking at a number of comments and complaints here.
I am just wondering what was the caller trying to achieve by calling me??? Or what was their motive and intention for calling??? - mattymaxI'm not even with HSBC and they have been ringing my mobile and leaving silent voicemail messages!

- LissieI woke this morning to my brother telling me that I had a phonecall off some company, I asked him to ask who they were and that I would ring them back. When I asked him if they sounded Indian, he said yes and I knew straight away who it was, as this has happened before. Since this morning, I've had 3 phonecalls off this number to my mobile phone which i'm really not happy about. I answered the 3rd time but there was nothing the other end. When I checked my allowance (outside of my contract) on my mobile, it had been charged 20p for around 3 seconds. I'm not going to answer or speak to these people again until I have a letter from my local branch. I've got enough problems at the moment and I don't want to have to deal with this!!
- Caller: HSBC
- Deb SmithI have had 18 missed calls from the 0800 7838422 number today. I'm on holiday at the moment and I'm determined not to answer any unsolicited calls. Surely this is tantamount to harrassment.
