- AndyWas just called by this number but didn't answer it (NEVER PICK UP IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHO IT IS!)
Googled my way to this forum and there are some very interesting comments.
It occured to me that it could well be a genuine HSBC number but that doesn't mean that their staff in Nigeria/Mumbai are squeaky clean, does it? Once they have basic security details, they can probably rinse you for everything you have. So, are their out-sourced staff really trying to knick our money? Doesn't inspire me with confidence, I'm ditching them asap!!!- Caller: unknown
- Jasebasically, it is HSBC, but simply don't do anything and say you'll pop into your branch and consult face to face with your local staff and then ask them to cease calling.
If they do not, send a complaint, and keep complaining until they adhere to it.
Stay safe and sane people.- Caller: HSBC - Credit related services (India?)
- SamI'm pretty sure it is HSBC - they just don't answer - I guess they must have some odd system where they ring from the UK then have to source it through to someone who is free in india which i guess takes a while - they could at least annonce who it is though when you answer.

- CathyIt certainly is HSBC - they called me yesterday to follow up a complaint I had made. Fortunately I was expecting their call, else I certainly wouldn't have accepted that they were who they said they were and given the information they were asking for (DOB and post code). Have to say that the chap was very helpful, although again heavily accented, but I could understand him OK and he seemed very willing to try to help.
- trev williamsit would appear that this is from HSBC someone should really communicate with them to let them know their customers have no interest in being contacted in this way and I shall continue to give them the big e if they try to tel me again in this manner

- janethis number has miss called me every day for a week at 11am and when i try to call back there is no connection. i am no mind reader so if it is hsbc and they have something to say i would appreciate it if they waited until i answer the phone or leave a voicemail!! pointless.
- susy11called by this number claiming to be hsbc, wanted my DOb/post code, when said I didnt know who their were said, she would hang up and if i did 1471 would find out was hsbc, calling 08007828422 back did get an HSBC message, but seeing has anyone can record anything on an answer phone am still not convinced.
- Caller: claimed to be hsbc
- Louise5 Calls in as many days-same as everyone else; a male with an indian accent (knows my full name but is unable to pronounce it), says he is from HSBC and has an urgent message for me. Then a pre-recorded female voice (again, with a indian accent) says I need to contact HSBC immediately and leaves a number. Haven't rang it, don't plan to.
- NadiaI've been getting several calls a day from this number but no-one ever leaves a message. I have been speaking to customer services in the last couple of days (about 2 weeks after these calls started) but no-one has mentioned anything about trying to contact me when I speak to them, neither have I received any written correspomdance to say there are any issues to be resolved and I check my banking details daily. Either there is a breakdown in internal HSBC communications, its a scam or their trying to sell something. Possibly all three!
- LB.Just took out a new phone contract and the next day i had 4 missed calls from this number. Theyve put the phone down before ive had a chance to answer. Ive read that its HSBC but i dont have a bank account with them, nor have i ever.
- DavidSick of these people phoning me. I also believe it is the HSBC. My account was overdrawn and they were really aggressive about me paying it and asking all sorts of personal questions about my income and my wifes income and then they said I should sell my car to pay the overdraft. When the insurance pays the overdraft not me. He then threatened to take me to court and sieze my car so it could pay for the overdraft. My god these people are on heroin or something really. I think it's time to change my bank.
I find HSBC very aggresive and annoying when it comes to owing them money. But when they owe me money it's a different ball game.- Caller: HSBC
- Sick of these callsAll,
If you are receiving persistent silent calls from 08007837422 you can complain to Ofcom. They are NOT allowed to do this. Ofcom are currently compiling complaints against HSBC and WILL be dealing with this, they need your complaints to act on. (They are just about to fine Barclaycard for exactly the same type of silent calls, it will cost them up to £50,000).
I have given HSBC loads of opportunities to stop these calls but they don't. Come on, stand up to these people who make our lives a misery while making billions in profits.
IMPORTANT: If you are receiving "persistent" calls that are a "nuisance" to you, contact Ofcom NOW:

- Good heavensI had a call from 08456021568
Indian accent and she started to leave me a message on the answerphone and then I picked it up. She said she was from the "fraud department". I asked her what fraud department and where. She said M&S. I asked her what the problem was as I have not contacted anyone and was not expecting a call back. She repeated being from M&S fraud department. She told me she has my details infront of her and can see the year of my birth is XXXX. It was the correct year but I can't understand why they call me and want me to verify my details. Many people who are close to me know my birthdate and other details. The only thing I know and nobody else knows is my PIN. I Googled the number while talking to her and told her I would sort it out myself She said I can call the number on the back of the card and they would help me. WHat the F*ck?- Caller: M&S Fraud department
- Good HeavensMe again. I rang M&S and they confirmed that the Fraud Department had tried to contact me. We sorted everything out. The number they gave me is allegedly correct ie. 08456021568

- Sarah BI have received 14 missed calls from this number within the past 4 days and have been eager to find out who it is, but as they always call me when I'm working then I cannot pick up their calls.. I have checked my online banking account to see whether it was a call from HSBC because they normally send me an email regarding any issues they might need to dicsuss, but I haven't received anything from them. I am looking forward to receiving the call one day and asking them to stop calling me, especially if they ask me to give them personal information, which HSBC have always advised me never to give over the phone, unless I have directly called a HSBC number myself. If this genuinely is HSBC calling me and they ask me for personal details in an incorrect manner, it will be yet another push toward me opening an account with a more professionally run bank.
- J.PaulI've had loads of problems with HSBC and now im getting calls from this number. Today i have had three calls from these people all different people from different countries, asking about my account. Ok im not the best person with money and and i notice a scam and this was a scam. Iv reported the calls and 'HSBC'in the past were supposed to send me letters of confirmation, they have cancelled my account saying someone is trying to hack into my account and they have to send me a new card with new account details. 8 debit cards i have had and im only 22. This bank is highly annoying and misconceptive. They show no compassion and the Indian call centre is incredibly rude and offensive. GET RID!

- AnnoyedI had loads of calls from HSBC like all these on this site. I have got a complaint with Ofcom about them. I also changed banks (GREAT) and my telephone number and guess what ..... they now bombard me with snail mail that quiet often gets returned to sender, or gets returned through a local branch of the HSBC to go in their internal post, or gets put out for re-cycling. (Best place) I do not pay postage to return rubbish back to them. Mail I can deal with the constant harasment by phone I couldn't. You can get your own back on these idiots.
- Adelheid von RichthofenI received a call from this number at 10:53, and they (a man) asked for someone who I'd never heard of.
I only searched their number out of idle curiosity, but I am certainly glad I did so. If I get even one other call from this number I will be visiting my local branch.
The best part is I have never been a member of Midland/HSBC
