I missed a call from them and called the number on the back of my card to check the validity of this caller having read what it says on here. The HSBC confirmed it was their sales team and removed me from their sales list for cold calling without any fuss. They did ask if I wanted to talk to someone about their offer but were very effective in helping me with no fuss.

i am reciveing calls day and night from this number, sometimes they just hang up without saying anything other times they ask me DOB and postcode as there is a problem with security on my account have told them its harrasment and that ill be reporting them to hsbc, and the police but still getting the calls 4 times a day. and i have checked with bank and no problems with my account at all so im guessing its a scam the scary thing is where did they get my mobile number from??? Also my preferance for hsbc is letters or email so i knew hsbc would not contact me by phone anyway so please do not give any details out to this scammers!!!

This number is the HSBC from India, very agressive callers, but, they must use some sort of bulk dialing software (otherwise known as 'autodialing') that enables the simultaneous dialing of many numbers; if you do answer (and I'd always suggest you don't, as it will only encourage the bank to carry on using this technique from outsourced call centres) then it takes them a few seconds to actually get to the line; this is classic behaviour of autodialing.

I'm in the process of closing my HSBC accounts as one incident when I was banking with them had their Indian call centre transfer me to a car park in North London, very professional!

I intend to pursue a line of written complaint to the HSBC. It's unacceptable, and it borders on harrassment. I urge everyone to do the same; please complain and this might one day stop! And remember, the written word to the right department is worth a thousand emails! Get writing guys!!

just got a call from them, I picked up but no answer.
I've got half a mind to call back and scream at whoever picks up but I'm worried it'll be expensive.

I havebeen called by these people at 12.50pm 5 times a day for the last 4 days i am starting to get annoyed now when you answer they will always ask to speak to someone but you.

If you say that this is not you then they start talking to you as though you were the person they intended to call in the first place

They asked for my bank details and postcode so i said if you are calling me then you will already have all my details on file they replied we need it to confirm that i am who i say i am.

I have just received a call from this number. The Scottish sounding man told me he was ringing from HSBC to talk about my account. He then said "i'll give you the first part of your postcode, if you can give me the second part as security". I said I was not happy to give my personal details to someone if I couldn't confirm where they were calling from. He said fine, and to ring 0800130130 if I wanted to ring HSBC directly. I called this number and there was the usual HSBC greeting, then a very quick message stating something about signing up for a 12 month contract, so I hung up. I then called HSBC's normal customer service number. The man couldn't tell me what they wanted to talk to me about, but did say the name of the person who'd called me, and that he assumed it was a sales call. I asked him to remove my number for calls like this, which he did. Wait and see now if it works!...

this number calls me, sometimes up to half a dozen times a day. I do owe HSBC money, but they are well aware of my situation, and know that at the moment there is little I can to regarding repaying as much as they'd like.
I see little point in calling me repeatedly, when they already have the relevant information.
To that end....they even have their own ringtone on my phone....as soon as I hear it, I silence it and ignore them....especially when I've only spoken to them, hours or days before grrrr!!!!

I was called today by this number - they called my mobile, which I didn't answer, and then the landline, which I did. They clearly identified themself as calling from HSBC.

They proceeded to correctly state the last four digits of my card number, and then they correctly identified the last four times I had used it; they called because the activity was unusual and they wanted to check for fraud.

I identified myself with the last three digits of my postcode and provided no other information to them whatsoever.

If they are scammers who already know the card number AND the last four times I had used it, with exact totals and business names, they already know everything they need to and having a 60 second chat with me provided them with no new information. Verdict - genuine HSBC call.

i spoke to phillip grovener at hsbc i give him my name and adress + mob.no. he said he would look into it and asked that i give him a couple of wks to get it sorted out he gave me his phone num.08456076779,2 wks later i got a letter from hsbc kerry-anne gallagher saying that could not locate any tel.calls to my mob.number and therefore they could not offer me any further info. regarding this matter so my next move is a visit to my locale hsbc to remind them that in the uk its against the law to make unsolicited calls i suggest that you all call mr grovener and give him hell good luck

Just took a call for my partner this morning from 08007838422. I didn't catch the name of the Indian sounding guy who asked me to get my partner to ring 08456052324, the HSBC fraud department. I checked out this website, as usual, but found too many contradicting replies about the 2 numbers, so he rang, only to find out somebody has been using his (cloned) credit card to pay hundreds of pounds to various online gambling sites. The card hasn't left the folder for a few years as it never gets used for purchases, just a few direct debits like insurance & AOL, so not sure how it's happened yet. I forgot to ask him what information he had to divulge to get through their security checks, but it's probably worth risking as we've found out. At the worst, you can put an immediate stop on the card if you think you've given out info for no good reason in the end. I'm glad we took the risk though. It's just a shame that our local bank manager isn't the one to make the call isn't it.

I've been called by this number and was checking it online when my work phone rang. It was HSBC verifying a standing order with my landlord which was being increased so the call was legitimate.

I've been called by this number the last few days, spoke to an Indian sounding man who wanted to know my dob. I refused to give it to him and asked him what it was about. He refused to tell me and kept asking for my date of birth. I said I wouldn't give it to him as I didn't give details over the phone. He said he had all my details already. I said I would deal with whatever the problem was at the branch and he said "yes but what will you tell them is the problem". I went to the branch and they had no record of anyone calling me. The number has phoned again this morning and I then called HSBC myself, they also had no record of anyone contacting me. I have checked my internet banking and see no problems with my accounts - no unusual transactions/haven't gone into overdraft. I have also been called numerous times by 08716658282 which rings once or twice then hangs up. Started on the same day as the HSBC calls.

I had a call yesterday from this number. Refused to give any details to them. Apart from the fact that I couldn't understand a word he said I would NEVER give my details out to someone who called me. Called HSBC this morning and it was indeed from their fraud department. The first person I spoke to couldn't see a record of the call but she put me through to someone else who did see I was called. They were checking as they thought there was suspicious activity on my card. I bought a new washing machine from Currys! Not very suspicious to me. If they are calling about a HSBC creditcard they will instantly put a block on it. Had a very embarrassing time at Tescos in the afternoon. They wanted to verify my last 2 transactions so blocked my card until they spoke to me :( It's all OK now and the block has been lifted but still let me be embarrassed in a busy shop. They said it would / could happen again if they think a transaction is suspicious. And it would again be the Indian call centre calling ..... think I'll go back to using my Barclaycard.
