- Francescaive been called by these people twice a day for the past 2 weeks, everytime i pick up there is never anyone there....??? bizarre!!! i now just reject the call, i don't want to risk it being a scam!!
- bryyea ive been getting calls off them ever since i went overdrawn
did any one else hear about that student in swansea who commited suicide because he was getting so much harrasment from HSBC, well all i know is that the second im back in credit im switching to another bank I think the whole company is disgusting
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/6038086.stm - CLEI have had this number ring me time and time agaon over the past few weeks 2 maybe 3 times a day tp both my home phone and my mobile...i have answered several times but have heard nothing on the other end and so have hung up.
After reading these messages i am confdent that the nature of the call is not important as if it was, they would have left a message or sent something in the post - AmandaHad a call from a man saying he was from HSBC Leicester. He asked me to complete my postcode and knew both my name and my partner's. I was in the middle of work so wasn't concentrating too much on the call. He knew I had money going into my account and wanted to know if I was going to transfer it to another of my accounts. He then asked if I had anything else I'd like to discuss so I started telling him of a complaint I have with my online banking and the phone went dead........that's when I thought about the call and looked at the number. I have now contacted my branch manager to ask what the hell this is about!
- SionaI've been getting nuisance calls from this number for months - I'm not even with HSBC. Nobody ever talks though - it's just background noise!
There are some steps you can take though:
http://www.ofcom.org.uk/complain/landline/nuisance/sales/
This describes how you can register your phone (landline or mobile) against marketing calls - it will then be illegal for companies to make such phone calls against you.
http://www.ofcom.org.uk/complain/landline/nuisance/silent/?itemid=284845
Actually register your complaint about this to Ofcom. They don't respond to individual requests - but take into account the volume of complaints. - carol bakeri get called regularly by this number at different days and times and noone is never at the other end
- PB&JellyI am sick of this number calling me, they call several times a day, even at the weekend and it's always silent of click as you go through from the autodialler. I'm 6 months pregnant and with also having a toddler resting time is scarce for me, you can guarantee this number will make me get up to answer the phone for nothing!!
The sooner we can sell the house and pay off anything and everything to do with HSBC the better, They are the worst financial institution I have ever had to deal with.- Caller: HSBC Scum
- HashilI have had calls from this number several times a week and this is annoying. Is there any way this can be dealt with? and is there any way this can be stopped?
- James MI've just typed the 0800 number into google and this site came up...
I too have started to have these telephone calls at least twice a day. They start the conversation with saying 'Hi, is that James'... then following into script about having a personal business matter to discuss and can i confirm a few security details. I never give anything out over the telephone and when i asked them to prove to me who they were, they couldn't and became almost aggressive.
I honestly thought this was a scam, they even called me last sunday afternoon to tell me they were having computer problems and can they call me back...
I think every one on this site should make a complaint:
https://whocallsme.com/awl/nb/r.ashx?ue=1QDO0 ... 5yd3d3LvoDc0RHa
They will only listen when people stand together... - emilyI have had exactly the same experience today, from the number 0800 783 8422
They said they were from HSBC and could I confirm my date of birth and address, and I said no because they should verify their identify before I verify mine. He said I could call HSBC back to find out the problem if I wanted.
Funny thing is, i am on a 'Green Account' wehre they are supposed to email me about any problems. We specifically requested this! I really hope I don't end up getting lots of calls like all these other people on here!!!!- Caller: "HSBC"
- L I ZYups, Hsbc customer & i have had 3 calls today from this number, luckily looking here its good i didn't answer!
Really glad that i found this page when i put the number into google. scammers you are caught!!! - J MWHO IS THIS?!
- NikiThis is HSBC - they are genuine and have to confirm your DOB and postcode just to confirm who you are (in case you lose your mobile for example, they wanna make sure its def you). No one can do anything with just a DOB and postcode. They are a pain in the [***] - I never answer them - they ring me up to 4 times a day including Sat & Sun. I know its cos i'm overdrawn and I can't be bothered to speak to some idiot in mumbai. But its def genuinely HSBC and they are just a nuisance!!!
- Caller: HSBC
- KelleeIve had about 50 missed calls from 08007838422 this week alone to my mobile. I refuse to answer calls I dont recognise and believe if it is important then they could leave a voicemail, email me on my banking account messages (as i do online banking and check my account online regularly) or send me some post. They to have been calling my house number and asking for security details, I dont disclose any information and I actually called HSBC today and they didn't inform that they had been trying to contact me at all! I was actually informed noone could help me with my situation til monday anyway!!!
I find it frustrating. Now I know what the number relates to I might just answer and ask not to be called again or for them to leave a message. It is pure harassment and something needs to be done. In these days where there are phising scams, bluetooth scams and a lot of data fraud I believe there must be a better way of a contact. Half the time these calls are for sales anyway!! If I want ASU, Loan or credit card I would ring them, or even better, pop into my local branch.- Caller: ??? not sure as HSBC could not confirm
- Mike YI dont even bank with the HSBC!! had 3 calls now, this numbers being blocked, I suggest anyone else does the same!
- tin piyanrelay this one of the Indian scams in UK..i got same call saying it is HSBC...since HSBC has customer service in India..Indians got all our personal details where they sell to any one for money..
I am from Asian region..so i know how these Indians or Pakistanis work...unfortunately European regain people don't no what they are up to.
one day when HSBC change their customer service to another place they will realize the size of the damage..
reasonlt i have updated my HSBC account and send my mobile number and surprisingly i got the call so soon...so it shows where our numbers are leaking to third party..
ta - L I ZYUP, i got asked to confirm my postcode & when i started to say that i wouldn't give it to them because i'd been alerted of a dodgy hsbc call scam they hung up! if this really is the call centre, i think that this is where the our accounts get cloned. from the source.
This is disgusting that all of us here are aware of it, have contacted HSBC and still we are recieving these calls.
But what can you do except make others aware as we are now.- Caller: HSBC
- HCI have been getting these numbers for the last couple of weeks about 4 times a day. I have just contacted HSBC complaints dept who put me on hold to check out the number. I was told they are not aware of any cold calling being made from this number and that they would look into it. They did seem genuinely intrigued by it.
When i answer the phone all i get is a click and when i 1471 it just says it is an automated call and that i do not need to do anything. It is becoming a real pain!- Caller: HSBC
- WMYup I am the same. Keep getting these calls a couple of times a day. They are a real nuisance. When I do answer the phone there is never anyone at the end of the line.
Just tried to make a formal complaint to HSBC via their website and no email address for complaints. Now having my number blocked- Caller: HSBC
- dustI am being constantly called by this number. Never picked it up as I am too busy in general, do not always have a mobile around me, and at work I simply cannot receive calls. I googled the number and here's how I discovered this website. It seems that this number may be HSBC, but since I do not shop online, haven't got a credit card, not to mention a decent debit card (solo user here), and my account is always in plus and seems ok, I can see no reason why HSBC tries to contact me this way. They are fine to send tens of letters offering mortgages, credit cards, loans, but if there is a problem, cannot send a letter. I suspect it is the loan department that tries to hook me up on some loan, hence the intensity of these calls. The result of this plus my general dissatisfaction with HSBC's services is that I am currently switching to another bank. No more 08007838422 calls!
Take care everyone!
