- GeorgeI do also recieve call from this number 08007838422.Yes,they are HSBC call centre agents. Most of them sounds like american but the truth of it is that they are call centres from Philippines.I do know this for a fact because I am from Philippines and i can recognize the accent they have.
- Caller: HSBC call centre Philippines
- DavidIt definately is HSBC, they called me from this number regarding a matter I had raised last week. Seems to take them a while to realise they're on the phone though!
- Caller: HSBC
- AnthonyI have been having these calls for about 2 weeks now about 10 -15 times a day on both my home and mobile phone, I had been ignoring but one day my partner off work ill had to keep getting out of bed to see who it was, initially she dint answer but eventually got fed up and answered, they kept asking to speak to me but didn’t see to listen to the fact I wasn’t their or that I wasn’t likely to take a call like this.
I decided after this that I would have works if they rang again so I did, I abruptly said hello, and repeated my self when I didn’t hear a quick response, sometime I could hear a faint murmuring, sometimes it would be silent and sometimes they hung up, I think I did answer a couple of times and say I refuse to give any details and can they put anything they have to say in writing.
After this continued still I rang HSBC on my return form work they said that they weren’t aware of any attempted calls, I then asked them to make sure no phone contact is made by HSBC and that I want everything in writing whilst expressing my concern of annoying calls and the grief it had caused my partner. At that point my mobile started ringing it was them, so I put the two phones together to let them talk , unfortunately this time it was just a recorded message from one of those Mass dialer programs, I had answered one of these before.
It said ' you were called by HSBC, but there were not enough operatives to take the call, if it is important we will call you back’
next day , still getting calls , both numbers all day , got home and called HSBC again , I made a weighty complaint and the girls was very helpful she said that HSBC do not operate like this and confirmed that THE NUMBER WAS NOT HSBC , she said that on my account no phone contact is allowed.
I continued to answer the calls with an aggravated 'hello' which seemed to keep them away (though they always called back); today I answered and managed to get into a conversation with 'Ritcha Nacawo' from the Philippines HSBC Global service centre.
I argued back and forth as to who he was , told him HSBC UK had denied all knowledge, he refused to give me his managers name (and his DOB , home address and bank details lol)saying he could do nothing until I confirmed my name , he kept saying this is MR ***** right ? trying to get me to confirm but I just met this with a repetitive Please can I have you managers name and a phone number that I can call , I promised him I would come back thru to him if he could provide me with a number I could get thru to him on
He gave me 08456600423 but guess what it is a dead line
I the end when I threatened him with letter of complain with his name to be sent to head office invoicing them for my and my partners wasted time (a reverse bank charge) , I repeatedly insisted he doesn’t call again and communicates that to everyone that works there.
after about 10 minutes of this I just got annoyed, as I knew he wasn’t form HSBC I tried to be as horrible as I could so he would put the phone down I abused him, insulted him and ripped the p**** out of his pathetic scam, he was still asking me to confirm my name, sure nothing HSBC would do, they just need your details don’t give them to them.
All of this on a phone line that sounded like it was coming from another planet, one more call and that letter is going HSBC so hopefully they do something about it but also ofcom so they can stop this.
Glad it’s not just me though!- Caller: Bulshit Artists
- benI keep getting these calls too but never answer them. I might try earls method though. If HSBC want to contact me and couldn't through the phone calls you'd think they'd send a letter or e-mail as they have both.
Sounds dodge to me... - JamesI have been getting calls from this number for the past week now, the only problem is that the caller only lets it ring half a ring before hanging up, therefore by the time i grab my phone and press the answer button the call isn't there anymore? My cynisism tells me that they are doing this just to regsiter on the system they have tried calling me X times and I have been uncontactable...
I may be wrong, but recently I have started to feel more and more let down by HSBC. - NagoI received a call from 08007838422 in my mobile phone. Since I didnt recognise the number and I was suprised by it I didnt pick it up and just let it ring. then, I realised someone left a message and when I listen to it I learnt that 'fraud prevention team' at hsbc tried to contact me.
At the beginning, I thought it was a scam. Then, I thought I could try to verify the number from which I was called, so I entered it in the internet. I was lucky to find this site and it encouraged me to try to call hsbc from the number at the back and on top of my masters credit card.
When I called them, they confirmed that the fraud prevention team had tried to call me to verify that I had actually tried to use my credit card. She simply said that she would activate the credit card again. - Anthonycontinuing from post of 7th FEB
after that saga i hung up then called HSBC fraud department to report again, and then didn't get another call.................until sunday
I had several on sunday and of a more agressive manner, my partener was quite stressed out as he wouldnt get off the phone, then i came in and went mad at him down the phones, told him to get to buggary but he continues to hang on the phone asking for me to confirm my name, i told him i knew he wasnt from HSBC and he was wasting my time, i told him not call again and that i would report him again, i said i didn't want any more calls on my number to which he replied 'you will be getting lots of calls, i will make sure you get a call 5 minutes after you hang up , we will call you another 20 times today' on this i was angry and said i am reporting him to ocom and hung up.
I picked up my phone to dial BT to complain and he is still on teh line, i put the phone down again and checked in about 5 minutes , he is still teher and wont get off my line so i houted abuse at him but he continued to ask me to confirm details so i then made a reording on my laptop of me shouting F-Off , f-you , you F'ing F etc and left it on repeat next to the phone, after about 5 minutes he had gone so i called HSBC and escalated my complaint, they again confirmed it wasnt HSBC and that i should email them on an addrss they gave me to help provide details to track this fraud.
I then went out and as i returned form shopping the phione was ringing again, my partner droppped the shopping t orun in and get it and it was 08007838422 again, this time it was a women, my partner was again getting stressed trying to tell hi to go away polity but she kept on and eventually the phone was passed to me, this time i cant be bothered to let her wind me up so i said
Hello, how can i help you ?
she said hi im from HSBC........
I cut her off and said no your not , i know you are not , explained i chad called HSBC who denied knowledge and that i had asked for letters to be sent, i then asked her for a number i could call back on , she said not possible...
she then said ' can you confirm that this is **********"
then i said sarcastically, 'no this isn't , this is Dr McGillighan ' ' i am afraid i know no one of that name , you have the wrong number' she said she would try to reach Mr ****** on another number and apologies for inconvenience ???
i then expected my mobile to ring but it didn't but if it does i will be answering it , Hi Dr McGillighan's surgery or soemthing more offencice like MR F***Off of Mr Euratwat
any ideas
no calls since ............
I would probably help if some otehrs reported this as they might do something about it then !- Caller: Scam Artists
- JoI had a graduate account with HSBC and because I decided to travel and did not use it for a while they froze my account. When I proved I was back in the country with a proper job they still would not unfreeze my account, ironic isn't it that 'the world's local bank' couldn't email me to say i should put some money into my account if i was abroad. There is always conflicting information when I speak to a person in the branch and then someone over the phone. One call I recieved on a Friday night at 8pm so I told them it was completely inconvenient to call someone outside of working hours, and then added that they probably didn't know that seeing as they were calling from India. When I am a decent person trying to repay a debt why won't the bank allow you to pay it back without having an account with them??? I cannot and will not discuss this with someone on the other side of the world with someone who I cannot understand, so no wonder everyone is leaving HSBC as they're customer service is non-existent. Barclays, my new bank, is exceptional...no annnoying phone calls, the only call I did have was a follow up on if I had been satified with their service so far...I will sever all ties with HSBC asap, thank god I actually take note of who I talk to otherwise HSBC might owe me not the other way round. [***]!
- Caller: Supposedly..HSBC Indian branch!
- J EI have been called by this number several times. I called HSBC and they said that no-one has been trying to call me and it must be a scam. Very confusing, as reading through this page it seems like it is an HSBC number. As with everyone else, if it is HSBC then I'm moving my account elsewhere!
- Caller: HSBC?
- PRWas called by this number on my mobile and at work.
Obviously didn't give out any details and told them to call later.
Called HSBC back (on 08457 404404) - and apparently it was them calling me about some mail they'd had returned. We moved months ago, but somehow had our old address lurking on their system.
I believe it is a legit HSBC call centre, or perhaps a generic call centre serving HSBC, M&S etc. But, clearly with some staff who have access to personal info. and are intent on scamming people.- Caller: HSBC
- W WatkinsI have been called every other day for the past three weeks by this number always at the same time of the afternoon. funnily enough though they do not ring for long enough for me to even answer the phone!!! I just keep getting missed calls which I am finding VERY irritating!!!! At least now I know to ignore it a just hope it will go away.
- PerryHad 23 calls in the last 7 days, When I answer no one speaks.
- RhiannonBeen called 6 times in a day by this number - when I didn't answer they rang my parents' home instead, again claiming to be HSBC and asked them to tell me to ring 08456077088 as they had a very important issue to discuss with me. Luckily I googled the number and found several reports similar to above. I also rang HSBC customer service who said no one from HSBC had rung me recently and there was no problems with the account. Do not give any details to this number.
- Daveerrrr guys, this IS an hsbc number. I have read about 1000 posts and made loads of enquries. I was convinced it was phoney. There's so many posts on this it's amazing. Some guys say it's hsbc, other say it's a scam...
Anyway, this resulted in me ringing them today - phllipines this time - the guy looked for the number and couldn't find it!! Ahhh, fraudulent I thought!! Then I rang and spoke to a very helpful dude in Malta. Yep, he had it logged, told me the name of the guy that rang, time of call and they are from marketing!! He just changed the preferences on my account and they will never ring me again! Simple. - DaveIt appears that you are all HSBC customers, anyone who is not a HSBC customer receiving annoying calls from this number. I have no link to HSBC, and only had my phone a few weeks so no idea why, if this is legitimate, they would be calling me.
- what in the world!I just got 2 missed calls from this number, rang once and disconnected. Searched the number on the internet to find all these comments! How can HSBC ignore this? I have never been satisfied with any customer service from the India-based call centre staff, so none of this surprises me.
- Caller: HSBC???
- EllI have been called over 20 times this week from this number - only to my mobile phone. There is always a pause before any one identifies themselves, they then say that they are from HSBC - asking me for date of birth before they can tell me why they are calling. Even though I have said everytime I will not give them this information they continue to call. I have spoken to my bank - HSBC, they have no record of any calls made to me. HSBC have also confirmed that my mobile number is not listed on my account! So even though I have an account with HSBC - and this number appears to be HSBC - something is not adding up!!
Does anyone have anyway of reporting these calls??- Caller: HSBC
- JanI just got a call on my home phone. On the phone was a guy (probably indian) who just asked if my name is Jan G. R.. So I aswered yes and the guy just hang up...
I used the BT numbern 1471 to find out the number to call back. The number was 0800783422.
So I called back to find out who was calling. But there is just an automated anwer who was telling me that I got a call from HSBC Bank and that there is no need for further actions blablabla...
I was complaining to HSBC earlier this mornig about there poor service and the fees they put on everything. For me it makes sence, that the caller is from the bank itself.- Caller: HSBC
- MartA Scotish accent guy asking for my wife... When I asked what's this call about he told me me not to worry and hang up.
- wildf1reThis number is the HSBC's Indian Financial services number. They will call you if there are problems with your account. For example, if you are late with payments on a credit card, or are over an informal overdraught. The best way to end the calls is to go to your local HSBC bank, and arrange a formal payment plan to pay off the debt owed. This way, if they ring again, you can state that the debt in question has an official repayment arrangement plan in place, and that there is no further need for them to contact you. If they do, go back to your bank, and ask to make an official complaint of unjustified harrassment from this tele-advisory affiliate of theirs, and a complaint against the branch for not controling the companies actions responsibly.
