- lisagot a call this morning from this number, they said they from hsbc bank and asked for my details, i told them i will go to their branch talk to customer service as i am not native english speaker so i worry i get cheat, luckily i didnt tell them anything about me, cos i went to hsbc bank today and asked them, they said they didnt call me recently.
- Guest23The number called and asked for a/c number and sort code this was given and they gave me back details of my statement which were true.
They explained they have stopped a transaction in Brazil because they thought it to be fraudulant(true) he said he was cancelling the card and sending a new one out 5-7 days. That was yesterday and i have checked my statement today and money was taken out in brazil this morning!!! I am now contacting HSBC separatly to verify number and complain about not actually cancelling my card.- Caller: 0
- josuI have started to have these calls, I never called back, well, now I know who they are. Great site!
- anonCalled by this no. this morning. Didn't answer as I've been getting a lot of dubious marketing calls from different numbers the past few days, all supposedly about my mobile contract and I assumed this was another from them. On checking this site however found the HSBC connection and tried calling the number as I do have an HSBC account. Just got a recorded message saying I was called by HSBC bank and that I did not need to return the call.
I'm still suspicious however because my account is not overdrawn and they have never called me for marketing purposes before in 10+ years with them. I would say it is ALWAYS a good idea to call back on a number you know to be genuine - however much you may think the caller is genuine. If they are genuine, they will understand. At the end of the day, better to be safe than sorry. - EmmaThis number calls me up to 20 times a day for over 2 months. What's even more frustrating as well as calling me on my mobile (which i ignore) they also call me on my house phone directly before calling my mobile. This is very frustrating for the rest of my family as they have to keep explaining that I work away or ignore every phone call coming in.
I have never answered the phone but took the number and called from another phone and they asked me a load of security questions that I refused to answer and advised them never to call again as I wouldn't answer and would report them.
The calls keep coming!- Caller: HSBC????
- LauraI have also been called by this number, they said it was from my bank. I refused to give any private info they were asking for and I contcated my bank. They could not trace the call as there was nothing in their records.
Be careful, they may be after your details... - Ala MiahI got a call from this number today about 11am. I was really surprised HSBC called me on my mobile because they normally call me at home. Anyway the man said we need to discuss some serious issues with your account and i need your d.o.b straight away i knew it was something dodogy. I said no, why do you need my dob, he goes sir i can understand why your cuatious but thats the only security question im going to ask. I said no and give me HSBC number and i will call them. He goes no sir its ok and hanged up the phone.

- bex08007838422 - This number rang my elderly mother and an Indian sounding woman spoke claiming to be HSBC bank and asked for a lot of personal details - if it is HSBC in view of all the security scams going on what a stupid thing for a bank to be doing. Not only this, it puts people on the spot and worries them un-necessarily and causes great inconvenience - my mother has had to cancel her cards and get new ones. Stupid bank if you ask me.
- irisThis is HSBC calling from India at least 15 times the last few day ,and that only because I am £30.00 overdrawn for a 1 week to I get payed- this is stupid!!!! one phonecall would be plenty.
- Caller: HSBC INDIA
- LottieIt's definitely genuine HSBC. Although that doesn't make this a positive comment.
I've been called many many times this week, no messages left on my phone. I eventually got the call last night. When the man demanded my DOB I explained I felt it was a foolish thing for a bank to be asking in the current climate, and that he could give me no proof of who he was. I asked if it was urgent, or if they could contact me in writing instead, but he said he would tell me nothing about the purpose of the call, as he didn't know who I was?!!! Ridiculous! I said I would not be dealing with HSBC in such a way and I would wait for them to contact me in writing if it was anything serious.
However, just this morning they started to call again. Again, no messages. So I called my usual number for HSBC and asked if they'd been genuine calls. Got put through to the Fraud dept. They apparently wanted to cancel my card and send me another one in 2 weeks. As an at-home mum with a 6 month old I think this is ridiculous that I should be required to go into my bank and get cash every time I need money. I asked if they would now STOP the telephone calls, and was told there was nothing he could do, and he didn't believe me that they did not leave messages! I thought he was rude and very unhelpful, and he really didn't seem to understand my point that this is a stupid way to be contacting customers - surely fraudsters could do the exact same thing?! Would love to leave HSBC as soon as I'm not tied there anymore.- Caller: HSBC
- lolai've had 56 missed calls in 2 weeks! it's harrasment! i dont even have an account with HSBC any more. not only that they only see to call when i'm at work!!
- HSBCI got a letter the other day regarding my account so contact HSBC straight away in order to resolve the problem. This morning just three days later they called me asked for my dob, so I gave it in order to find out what they wanted, needless to say it was the same reason for me calling them after getting rather anoyed with the man on the other side of the phone who wasn't listening to anything I was saying. He then told me that I should probably check my account daily inorder to ensure I didn't get overdrawn again. To which I replayed 'I do have a life and better things to do than after check my account when i'm putting money in and your taking it out.
I then called HSBC myself to find out what the hell was going on, and the guy on the phone said that if it was the collections department they have no number for us to contact them
Best is they called again twice since, same day this time it was a woman and at 8.30pm oh and it's a saturday. - SuspiciousBona fide
I called my credit card number - they've told me there's a security stop on my M&S card bacause of an unusual payment, and their Fraud Dept want to talk to me. - HannahI received a call from this number today. A man introduced himself as being from HSBC and asked if it was convenient to talk. I asked him what it was about and he replied that he could not tell me until I had confirmed my postcode and date of birth. When I said I would not do that until I knew why he was calling he turned quite cross and said he would out something in the post instead and hung up!
I was slightly worried in case there was a problem with my account, although I couldn't see how there would be, and I called the HSBC customer service line and asked them if someone was indeed trying to contact me and when I gave them the phone number the man had called from they told me it was a marketing call from a company trying to give information on new offers and credit cards.- Caller: HSBC
- enrica cherchiHi,
I have received a few calls from 08007838422 but I could not answer as I was working and so busy so I asked kindly them kindly to call me later on my lunch time. But it was not as I asked because they kept ringing me many times in the same time saying that it was very important call as they needed to ask urgently some information. It seemed not a real call as their pronunciation was not clear but I thought that it was not a call from HSBC as when HSBC needs to ask or comunicate informations they send me a letter.
Anyway I will report it to police as I am fed up listening those stupid calls from somebody that could cause a serious problem to somebody else believes
that could be real and important issue. - nickythey have rang me 3 times but only do one ring
- AmberMy husband started receiving calls from this number a few weeks ago. He wouldn't give his details out as he had no idea if it was HSBC or someone calling and pretending to be from HSBC. He asked if it was important, the caller said that no, it was not important. The calls continued every day and are now coming in 5 times a day. The calls are coming from an Indian call center from some pretty rude people. My husband told them that he would go into the bank, which they first told him he could not do then later said he could, and see what the problem was as they would not even tell him which account the call was regarding, let alone the problem. My husband went to the bank where he was told that there was no reason, other then possible marketing, for him to be receiving these calls. Nothing showed on any of his accounts.
I have answered the phone when the calls have come through and gotten some serious lip off of the callers. Instead of being sympathetic to the fact that fraud is happening all of the time, they get attitude and tell me "The calls will continue". Also, when I asked if they would speak to me as I'm on the same accounts, they flat out said no without even asking who I was.
They have called twice today already, and I anticipate there will be more. This is harassment and HSBC need to be held accountable for it. Ridiculous.
The calls also have a pause after I have picked up the phone, I have to say "Hello?" at least three times before they pick up.- Caller: supposidly HSBC
- RustyI am getting calls from this number that ring once and then nothing, no answer phone message - 6 calls since 26 Nov.
If it is HSBC then why can't they leave a message and I will call them back (asumming it is important). Otherwise leave me alone and stop the slient cold calling. : (- Caller: Unknown
- ingoI was called from o8oo783422 today, on sunday 11:50, the caller had a slight accent and I thought it was a friend of mine,. When I said that I said 'oh hallo, how are you, I recognised your voice' she hang up.
I did not ring back as it was from this number.
It looks like all banks are riding on the fact that if they increase pressure on small borrowers (I do not owe them very much) that they eventually can harrass us into paying up. They have been told to stop it by the Government, but like with all things Government, there is no coherence in the talk, its all bluster and shite these days. - PavlinaPlease stop call me phone.I deaf!!! Fed up.
