Me and my wife have had a number of calls from this number, sometimes it is once a day maybe two, my wife answered the call and it was from hsbc, they called about going over her overdraft, they were very rude and demanded that the money be paid in even thought my wife told them she can't do anything till she gets paid. 45mins later they got off the phone, even since that call we still get calls from them every day, when i spoke to a friend he said that Credit companys and banks are only allowed by law to ring you a maximum of 3 times a day, if they call more than that they are breaking the law (this is not 100% confirmed,

I have been called a few times by 08007838422. I have missed these calls, as I don't answer calls from numbers I don't know! When i called the number back, it says (automated) that the call was from HSBC, but no further action is required.

Funny thing is, HSBC don't have my mobile number, so if it was a vailid call, where did they get my number from? HSBC only have our home number, and I have not had any calls on that from them!

I was called today by this number and he said he was from HSBC and he needed by date of birth and mothers maiden name for data protection! I told him that as he had rung me he should know these details and when I asked him what it was regarding he said it was a "personal matter" I again told him I would not give out my date of birth as he could not prove who he was. I said that if he needed to discuss something with me then he should put it in writing, he sounded rather flustered said ok and hung up.

Please don't give out any personal information over the phone. If HSBC or any other company genuinely need to contact you then they should not object to doing it by post.

This is not the first time this has happened with HSBC and I am so sick of it now that I am going in to the branch tomorrow to complain and to close my accounts and take my business elsewhere.

I keep getting calls from this number asking for a matthew lambert they say they are HSBC, i tell them this not his number but they still continue to call, they call at least 10 times a day, along with lots of other numbers asking for the same guy. I had 30 calls in one day once and they either hang up, dont say anything or ask for this man, i ask them to take me off there records but suprise suprise they call back ten mins later. the other numbers do exactly the same saying they are Barclaycard (08453007027) Capital one (08004220295)

I had a call from this number today, so after reading this thread, went into my local HSBC branch to complain. For the numpty a few pages back who suggested we should all stay in credit and then we wouldn't get these phone calls, I'm well in credit in both of my accounts and have a positive balance on my credit card, so it has nothing to do with that, you self righteous cretin.

I also have my acocunt set up so I have no maketing phonecalls to my number and anything they do contact me about, is done by e-mail (apart from fraud protection). The woman at the counter was at a loss to explain why they had called me as there was no cause to. She even called the number, just to confirm it was a HSBC telephone number (which it was). She couldn't offer me any advice, apart from to pop back in if it happened again.

If it does happen again, I'll be closing my accounts down and shifting the positive balances elsewhere. All I can suggest to everyone is to complain like hell to HSBC if they bother you, especially if it's on a Sunday or well out of business hours. Banks are desperate for people with positive balances at the moment and they should do all they can to retain these customers. If you're reading this HSBC, your reputation is being shredded by these Bangalore berks. Get it stopped.

    Further to my post above:
I've just called the HSBC complaints number on 0800 881 155
The scottish lady was very polite and got straight down to business. She could see that I had been called by this number, but was at a loss to explain why it had "slipped through the net" of me setting my marketing preferences to wanting no contact from sales people etc. She was very apologetic and said she would monitor the situation for me.

I suggest if you have nothing to hide, ring the number above and give them a piece of your mind.

Don't give them any security details and never give any personall information to anyone claiming to be from HSBC (or any other Bank for that matter). Security is insecure on all 0800 calls to India or the Far East. They are not covered by uk 'Nuisance calls' UK legislation such as used by so called 'Kitchens Direct' where they dial as many as 20 telephone numbers and drop all but the one who answers... Beware if you answer, and refuse security questions.

I've had two of these calls in the last couple of days. I have real doubts that it is HSBC. I've called them and they have no record of any calls to me and no reason for the bank to call me. Their advice was to ask for dept and ext but she refused today until I told her my DOB. She started to claim this was because of the data protection act - huh?!? Anyway, I'm not giving them any details and I doubt that HSBC would be quite so rude. Today, when I called HSBC, they advised me not to give any details too.

I got a call from this number after i had rang my bank which is HSBC they left me a message asking to ring back i did so and it was the bank, which put me though 2 the person who had rang me and had spoke 2 previously this is a secure number!the reason they cant tell u what they want is for security reasons aswell in case you are not the person they need to speak too.
