this number has been phoning me non stop but I finally gave in and answered and an american woman was on the other end, she said she was calling from HSBC bank then said some other words which I couldnt understand whatsoever so i was like "sorry what?" then she went on about how some system was down and she will call me back in five minutes. I just hung up. I too am also overdrawn on my HSBC account but that'll be paid back soon, so for now I can't be bothered with phone calls like this - if it IS actually HSBC then i'm not impressed. it's a joke.

Idiots. They call me twice a day and have been for the past two weeks. When I answer there is nobody on the other end. I hate HSBC.

I've just started getting calls from them, with no postal contact as usual. At least I know now whose calls I'm ignoring! I am totally sick of HSBC as well. I too am overdrawn, but if my branch was open longer than 9.30am to 2.30pm, I might be able to get there to pay some money in! However, perhaps it would be better to give it all to NatWest and tell HSBC where to stick it...

All these posts seem to be from 2007 but I just got two missed calls from this number, one to my new mobile that I had just registered with HSBC internet banking, and one to my house phone.  Seems very strange.  It was followed immediately by another missed call from 02070880003, which I haven't found anywhere.

I've had five missed calls from this number today, so I rang back:

"You were called by HSBC. No further action is required from yourself, and there is no need to return the call."

No need to call back? Why the urgency then? Why call me at 8am this morning and wake me up on my day off? Why ring a further four times if it is not important?

Maybe if these people stopped ringing me (and everyone else above), there might be someone available to answer the phone when I want to talk to HSBC, instead of putting me on hold (and charging me) for twenty minutes.

We've had calls several times a day from this number right through the holidays, including Christmas Eve and Boxing Day, six times on New Year's Eve and starting at just after 9 today (new Year's Day) - what a pain in the behind. I think I'll take the advice above next time, answer it and give them an earful.

i have been getting calls from this number, several times a day. when it started i used to answer it but there was never anyone there, just office noise. after getting several more of these nuisance calls i got caller id added to my line and setup a modem and a software answering machine on my pc called callstation. i have set the software to instantly answer these bu***rs and play a message that gives them the gist of what i think of them, it then cuts them off. all this happens without my phone even ringing. its great. that'll teach them!

I have been getting calls from this number too.
The most annoying thing is that 4 weeks ago, I spoke to someone in my local branch of HSBC and asked her to confirm that my telephone number was not registered and to ensure that I would not be contacted by telephone!!

    Very unimpressed
I've had 18 calls from this sumber over the last couple of weeks, during the day & evening, during the week & at weekends.  I amswered the first call & a male Indian with a very heavy accent claimed to be from HSBC & demanded my date of birth for 'data protection' reasons.  I refused, & asked him to provide proof that he was calling from HSBC.  He refused, so I said that because he could not prove who he was, I would not be able to provide any personal information which could be of use to a fraudster.  He began arguing, so I hung up. If anyone from HSBC needs to contact a customer, they should develop a system so that customers can identify & veryify the caller. Until then, they can expect the number of complaints to increase.  In the meantime, now when they call, I pick up the phone & leave it on the table until they disconnect, that way, they are wasting their time & money, not mine!

i have been contacted by this number twice today once on my mobile and once on my land line. As i have answered the phone they have replaced the hand set, i find this very anoying as i do not have time to deal with people prank calling me.
I very nearly got the police involved if it happens again then i will and be. If i find out that it is a scam i will be most upset and be sure to let you know what happens in the future.

I am getting continual calls from this number, both on my mobile, which is my business phone, and my ex-directory home number, both of which are covered by the TPS. It usually starts at just after 8.00am, every day except Sunday. and there is usually another call at around 2.15 pm.
They are a right royal pain in the nether regions, and I will be complaining to the TPS and OFCOM as soon as possible. It has caused unnecessary stress on my disabled partner, who often takes the calls in the afternoon when I am at work, and is fed up with answering the phone and getting no reply!

Received a message on my answer phone asking to speak to me (gave my full name) saying they were from HSBC and giving a number to call them back on. She sounded like she was maybe Russian or Eastern European. Having just applied for a credit card, i assumed it was in regard to this and called the number, it rang once and then connected me but nothing happened. The number was 0845 609 4959.

In the past few days I received 5 or 6 calls from this number.
They seem to be pretty aggressive and try to get personal account answers in order to proceed with the call.
I will call HSBC customer services to make sure I am really dealing with HSBC.
To anyone that gets called by this number, I suggest you asked for the right department (not tel number) that you should contact and then get the number from your local branch or the internet and then call them to find out if there is any issue you need to deal with.

We have received calls every two hours all through the night from this number and again during the day for the past week. I phoned BT who are very helpful (for once). Firstly sign up for TPS and/or you can sign up for as service from BT called 'Choose to Refuse'. This is free for 28 days and should be long enough to stop these calls. This service is number specific.
