I have just received a call from this number.  I answered the phone and there waa complete silence.  After waiting a while for someone to say something I put the phone down.  What is the point of calling if the person calling does not say anything?

Second call in 2 days, haven't even spoken to anyone, flashes up as a missed call as they ring once only, no message left so was curious and typed number into Google, which is how I found this site!

Yet again a call on this number with nobody there.
If I could find out who it was I would tie them up and leave them in the snow overnight.

I have had numerous calls from this number and have actually spoken to them 3 times in the last 5 days.  Each time the same questions and the same answers, I even asked why do I have to give the information 3 times and the Indian [***] said that they wanted to make sure what I was telling them was true.  The basis of the call was that that I had been overdrawn 6 months running and they wanted to now why.  Each month I was overdrawn in my agreed limit which is part of any normal banking facility cleared each month by my wages, so why the concern?

I did write to the HSBC concerning the number of calls I receive two months ago but they have never responded.

Do the HSBC care about customers? NO!!  They are just a bunch of money grabbing [***] who are trying to bully people.

I hate to think what they would do if I ever got into a bad situation!!

    Swap banks and swap soon!!

I can confirm that it IS HSBC credit control. Have been getting up to five calls a day for the past two weeks. Whenever I answered the (Indian?) call centre staff asked to speak to my step-son. I've lost count of the amount of times that I had to explain that he is in Thailand on a gap-year trip. Each time they said that they'd not phone my home phone number again - but still the calls continued. A scream down the phone from my wife halts the calls for a day! When we received a bank statement it turned out that he was overdrawn, so fair enough for them wanting to discuss this with him, but as a result of this DAILY harassment I am closing the accounts which I have held with HSBC since 1981. I recommend that everyone else does the same.

this is my 2nd comment to this website. i had calls ages ago but then it stopped.. ive had two calls tonight and they both left messages saying they were from the fraud prevention team. I rang back and they asked me to confirm my sort code and account number. I said no, i am seriously considering moving banks! I have saving accounts with another bank so i think i will just transfer everything and close my account with hsbc ive had since 1998!

I have just received a call from this number. When I answered there was no response from the other end.  I have received two or three calls from this number in the past with a similar silent response.  Why phone someone and then fail to respond when they answer?

Ref. the silent calls: I think this happens where their automated phone system dials-out and when you answer there are insufficient Call Centre monkeys to talk to you. Count yourself lucky as the conversations make no sense when they do take place!

After getting several missed calls from this number and a quick search suggested it was a bank with who I don't have an account, I've configured my phone system to refuse calls from this number. Even though they get a polite, "I'm sorry. Your call cannot be connected as dialled. You are blacklisted on this system." each time they call, they still persist. I've just checked my logs and my system refused three calls from them in the last two hours and they even tried at six o'clock yesterday morning. If I didn't have the ability to refuse calls from known nuisance numbers, they'd be driving me mad.

I just got a call from this number. They hung up without saying anything when they got the anwering machine. Although I do have an account with HSBC - if they want me for something related to the account they can write to me.

I have just received a call from this number and was immediately suspicious.  My colleague went on this site and read out some of the comments whilst I was on the phone and I am assuming like most people that it is either a scam or some seriously bad communications from HSBC fraud protection.

I HAD just made a purchase on the internet so was worrying that something had happened with the transaction but after reading all the comments I am glad I gave them no details.  They were asking for my post-code and date of birth which I refused to give until the guy (think he was Indian) told be what it was regarding, he said he couldn't until he had checked that I was the right person for security reasons, I replied that's exactly why I wouldn't give him any info - incase he wasn't who he said he was.  We had the same conversation about 5 times until I hung up.  If there is something wrong wtih my card/transaction then yes I want to be called but not in that manner....and yes, I will be seriously p!ssed off.
