- Penelope CodyI keep getting this 08007838555 number on my mobile phone and I keep replying that I'm busy this has being going on now for some weeks. Who is it? I haven't tried to call this number myself, so why am I being harassed. As this company has not had a reply from me, if they need to get in touch with me (which I doubt) put a letter in the post!!!
- Al JenkinsGot a call from 0800 783 8555 and it was Eon - they just hung up when I answered. - Pete Moore. It's nice to see that I'm not alone in receiving these nuisance calls, however, this time, they woke the wrong sleeping dog, I bite.
I suggest that you do as I have done, register all your telephone numbers here, with the Telephone Preference Service. http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/
Then, once you have done that, send a kindly message to here, E ons' Director of Customer Complaints,
https://www.eonenergy.com/At-Home/Contact/Complaint/Complaint.htm
If you are not sure how to put your anger into words, feel free to copy or refer to, my little love note, as shown here..
QUOTE...
I moved to my current address on February 3rd this year. I have no wish to entertain E on as my energy supplier and therefore contacted my preferred supplier, giving the current meter readings, for that day.
As a matter of courtesy, I contacted E on Customer Services, notifying them of my intentions and gave the meter reading yet again.
Since that time, on a regular basis, I have received calls, on my mobile telephone, from a number I have traced back, as belonging to your Sales Department.
During my investigations, I have discovered that I am not alone in receiving the 'nuisance' calls from yourselves.
I wish to make you aware, that all the telephone numbers I subscribe to are, ex-directory, no calls and, as such, are registered with the Telephone Preference Service. I provided my number, purely on the basis that is was to help with any future queries regarding the account and not for tele-marketing purposes.
To make matters worse, on 3 occaisions when I was called, once during a client meeting, no one spoke at all, although it was possible to hear office sounds, down the phone.
I understand, from the E on website, that complaints may take up to 10 days to resolve satisfactorily, there- fore I propose, to taken no further action, for the next 14 days, from now. However, be assured that, if a single instance, of an unsolicited call, from your company, appears on my phones, I will press for, to the full extent of the law, redress for nuisance caused, as is my right.
Pete Moore.

Hello Mr Moore and thank you for your email.
I am very sorry that you have received unwanted calls from our Sales team. I appreciate the reason why you originally gave us your telephone number, and can understand that it seems like this has been abused.
I have now removed your telephone number from our records, and have headlined your account to ensure that no-one calls you.
Whilst accessing your account, I noticed that British Gas have contacted us about your transfer. I would recommend that you contact them, as they may not be able to support the meter that you have.
I trust this resolves your concerns.
Kind regards

When I contacted British Gas, they said that I have a perfectly acceptable type of meter, since it was not a pre-payment type, there would be no problem.
However, this highlighted some other issues I wish to make you aware of, in case you are unaware.
When you change provider, for the first 14 days, nobody does anything, at all. This is the 'cooling off' period, as laid down in law. Then, once this time has passed, your new provider contacts EMPAS, to tell them that you are going to change supplier. EMPAS dither around for a bit, 14 days, then contact the original supplier and ask for a release. The original supplier, tells their Rentention Team to contact you, to make sure that you are sure. After all, 14 or more days have passed, you could have been declared unfit to make a choice between peas or carrots, who knows?
Once you have had all the 'nuisance' calls you can stand and they finally accept that you are sure, they then pass on EMPAS, a release.
EMPAS then contact your local area supplier, the people who read you meter, a code to state that your readings should be submitted to your new supplier, after a certain date, another 14 days.
So, all in all, expect the whole process to take not less than 6 weeks and that you will receive a bill for the fuel you used during this process of transfer.
