I got a phone call, telling me I've won a competition to have 7 nights holiday anywhere in Europe. I know a friend who won a holiday to cancun, mexico, It was a geniune, competition. So I was estatic, I want to suprise my husband so I called the number that the person called Chris who notified me of a fantastic surprise. I phoned 08009889909, the person hang up.I then dialed the last caller number and it is 01268557600. Why do people do this!!I realise I have been gullible.I am trustworthy person and that most of the people I come across are also trustworthy. It is probably a fraud so I'll wait if they'll send the holiday via post. If it is geniune. Thanks very much if not shame on the person who called me today.

Isn't it sad? You're at home after a long day in the office and receive such a phone call "YOU HAVE WON A TRIP FOR 4, ALL INCLUSIVE, ALL FREE!!!" Took me by surprise, but let's be honest, don't we all secretly hope that it is not a scam?! Looked it up on google, got the call from 01268557600, and was asked to call back the freephone number (08009889904), repeatedly told me to call from the landline! Googling it I got to this website here.. and I'm glad, but still part of me still wants to believe that maybe it is possible to receive this trip. Hmm. I guess that's what they're after. Desperate, hard-working people who can only dream of an amazing all-paid-for holiday :-( I'm gutted. There I was, the day before my birthday, just accepting my destiny of spending my summer in the UK and someone gives me hope just to kick me in my butt again and laugh at me. Shame. But better find out here than once they've screwed me over, so THANKY YOU for all the messages, you have convinced me (even though I knew deep down) that this is not worth following up!

well.... just to prove you all wrong!! I have had a lovely 7 night stay free except for £30 each plus airport tax!

It's word of mouth advertising they are after!! Make the most of it!! It really is true! All you have to do is sit through a 2 hr talk on the properties - timeshare - NO hard sell though and in no way are they trying to make you buy anything. I was surprised but it really is true!!

I completed a questionnaire at the Vitality Show in London last Friday and today received a call from 01268557600 telling me that I'd won a free holiday for 4 to Europe, flight and accommodation all free.  I asked what the catch was and was told nothing, and said all I had to do was phone the 0800 number to book.  As I completed the questionnaire at the show I believed it to be legit, thankfully my hubby isn't as trusting and told me to google the number first.  I'm pleased I did, wont be wasting my time phoning them.

I too got a call today from the same number. She offered me free trip to spain for four for 7 days!!!

Is it a scam to pay a booking fee for a 'free' holiday? Are we scamming them if we take the holiday knowing we will not sign up to anything or will no buy a timeshare or holiday club membership? Who is fooling who? am i naive to think i can go and not be 'forced' into signing anything? I never go to the same place twice on holiday and never sit around in resorts - will their sales tactics penetrate that? Am i a fool?

Received call telling me both me and my husband had one a luxury 7 night holiday in Spain, Portugal or the Canary Islands.  Price to include hotel and return flights and not a penny cost to us.  Oh - apart from that is the £28.50 admin fee EACH when booking this FREE holiday.  I specifically asked if they were linked to timeshares or if we would have to listen to great lengthy talks at a hotel nowhere near home - the answer was NO.  Neither of us EVER complete street questionaires or any other type for that matter therefore this can not possibly be true.  Was given the FREE 0800 988 9904 number to ring and "John" who was a very nice Indian sounding chap kept asking me whether I would be ringing in the next 20 - 25 mins as there was a chance that if I did then I could win £50 worth of Argos vouchers.  I will not be ringing!!  It may be that I am throwing away an almost FREE holiday but neither of us actually WANT to go to Spain, Portugal or the Canary Islands anyway.

I was called from 01268557600 and was told I had won a free holiday, to claim it all I had to do is call 0800 988 9904 which I did and the person on the other line said they are called Club lacosta and he confirmed I had won a free "self catering" holiday (paperwork to be sent to me by post) and all I had to do is attend a 2 hour presentation which he confirmed no purchase was necessary to get my free holiday.

So I guess it sort of true its free though I will have to pay £29 per person plus it is a self catering holiday. I think to get free flight and accommodation holiday for sitting 2 hours to listen to a boring presentation about time share is a bargain for me.

I have just another call from one of these companies telling me I have won a free holiday and to phone 08009889904.  I have been to many different presentations by these types of companies and have had wonderful almost free holidays.  We make sure we do not agree to anything or pay anything.  As long as you know what to expect and sign nothing who is the winner, we were on many occations.  We also picked up a voucher or similar and again we are the winners.  My friends think we are mad agreeing to go to these prsentations but it is us with the free holiday not them.  Eyes open and they lose, it must cost them something to put us up for a weeks holiday.  Go on one of these but do not agree to anything how ever hard it is to say NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, (and you will have to say no many times).

I had filled in a survey a few weeks ago (which I can vaguely remember) and that I had won a free holiday for 4 people in Spain, Portugal or Canary Islands.  Ring this company 0800 988 9900 have noticed that my number is only 1 digit out from number above.  I was very sceptical said it was too good to be true, was it timeshare, was there something I had to buy.  He said it was a free holiday that I had won due to my number being pulled up and it was a genuine offer.

Getting sick of the calls from 01268 557600 & 01268 555095. Haven't answered any of them, have no intention of talking to them. How on earth have they got my number? I NEVER fill out surveys of any kind & I want to know how I can get them to stop phoning me!

Also got this call and exactly same offer of having won holiday. I havent rung the 0800 number and now i find im getting called daily from them. How can we stop this

Got a call from this lot this morning. As it turned out I had actually entered a competition for a cash prize draw so I had no reason to doubt their reasons for calling me. Phoned the 08009889904 number with the ref they gave me and was asked to take ID along to Auchterarder (which I thought was quite strange as any holiday company worth their salt usually has some kind of contact office in Glasgow or Edinburgh. Got the spiel about £29.50 each booking fee but was genuinly happy to have actually won something until I found this site. I have won something but I need to go on a possibly 200 mile round trip to get it, then I have to pay £120 to book it - too much hassle, no wonder hardly anyone actually goes through with it!

Also "Christina" seemed quite annoyed when I mentioned we probably wouldn't make it to their meeting on a Wed, Thurs or Fri until we had arranged holidays from work and childcare.

hi i havent answered any of the calls i got from 01268 557600 number as i googled it first and saw this forum about it. they have been calling my phone for 2 months now every day at all hours day or night at least 5 times a day anyone know how to stop it? my mum has had the same problem so she answered the call to tell them to quit harrassing her and she's not interested but it hasnt worked she 2 still gets the calls!

Same as many before me, call received from 01268 557 600 to ask if I was the homeowner with my wife and that I was another 'lucky one' who had won a fantastic holiday to Spain or Portugal. Needless to say I need to ring 0800 988 9904 to claim my prize but this must be within the hour! DOH! When she calls back I may feed her a line or two! Do these people actually get paid to do this?

I have just received the call from this company telling me i have won a 7 nights holiday and that the only thing they need from me is my address details so they can post out my confirmation details.They gave me the 08009889904 telephone number to call with a reference number to confirm the prize and also to supply my address details.I decided to google the number as it seemed to good to be true and if you watch "The Real Hustle" you know what i am talking about and i am glad i did as i have found so many people getting this same scam.

I received a call from Ben telling me I had won a holiday which would be rather nice as I have been made redundant. Had to ring 08009889904 and quote reference a number. He explained that I had enter a competition, which I had for a weekend for two in New York, but if I remember correctly I would have been notified by post if I had won. I haven't rung them as assumed it was a scam but my husband googled the number so glad he did. I wasn't aware that these companies were allowed to carry out business like this anymore where is the protection for the eldery??

Just got a call from this number, 01268 557600 saying that we had completed a survey within the past 12 months however could not confirm where. We were offered a free holiday for 4 people in Europe and advised to call 0800 988 9904 to proceed. After convincing ourselves we had completed a survey we called the number to find out if it was real. Surprise surprise it wasn't!! We were advised that we couldn't get our free holiday as I was under 25!! However after reading all of the other comments I am glad we were not the only victims of mindless scamming!
