Was accosted at the 2010 Bike Show at Excel, and asked the usual questions (name, address, most memorable holiday). A week later I got calls from 01268 557600, and when I answered I was told I had won a luxury holiday for 4 to Spain, and given a freephone number (0800 988 9904).

When I called the number (to humour them) asked more intrusive questions (confirming combined salary over £33k and my passport and my partner's were EU). After confirming this told we had won the holiday, but had to go to their presentation in Tottenham Court Road, but that both of us had to go. When I said that one of us couldn't go, they said that it was a couple thing and that we both had to go.

we attended the DESTINATIONS Travel Show at Earls Court last week  where I filled in several free prize draw forms, as I am sure did many others.  I am surprised that my telephone number and name [incorrect] were then made available to this particular company who were not as far as I am aware exhibiting at the show.  I am very glad to have checked this website before making the call back to them.   Thanks to above contributors....

Well, here we are, end of feb 2010, & La Costa are obviously still at it! "You've won a holiday" Had to ring 0800 988 9904.. Law may have changed 2 years ago, but nobody has told these people! Knew it was too good to be true.

Just got a call from this number, same old story. Please call the office with this code 06we to claim your free holiday. I don't think so !

Just had this call, I even said to him I thought it as a scam, but  was assured it wasn't!!  I was told to call the number quoting ref 15WE..  I don't think i will be phoning

He said he would call back tomorrow to check that I have phoned.  I cant wait to have a go at him about this tomorrow

You got the same reference as me :p they must be on a get people exited about 'free' stuff so they turn up bonus.

Anyway, sure you can work these to your advantage, maybe a little task for when I have retired and have the time to go to whatever it is they want you to to collect the tickets.

Sounds so familiar to the call I have just received, I never fill in forms and rarley do e-surveys so was surprised by the call, I will not be calling the number, I do not want a time share holiday and thank you all for your advise!!! As mom used to say - If it sounds too good to be true then it usually is.

Had a call today from a company called clc hotel and resorts who said that I had done a survey and the outcome was that I had won a european holiday for 4 people. I was a bit suspicious as I don't recall having done a survey. Anyhow I googled the phone number which was 0800 9889904 and found this page. Thank goodness for pages like this, just the fact that they are allowed to do this sort of thing makes me mad.

Hi  guess what we did the same, googled the telephone numbers to find out if it was a scam and came up with this website. We actually attended the Club la Costa presentation in London approximately 2 years ago, just to see what it is really all about. When we decided that it was not for us as we didn’t want to get involved in time share, their representatives became very hostile towards us and tried to bully us into purchasing their product. Politely we told them to get lost and left, happy they were not. Many thanks for the website that prevented us from falling into a trap.

I attended the 2010 ideal home exhibition and Yes i did fill in a form for a free holiday.  Today 2 weeks later I have received a call telling me that I have indeed won a 7 night holiday for 4 people to anywhere in europe inclusive of flights and accomodation.  
I was immediately suspicious and asked if this was timeshare or club costa and was told that it definately was nothing to do with selling of any kind.
I decided to try and different tack and told him if there was any sort of financial requirement there was no point as both myself and husband were bankrupts (this is a lie but thought it might put them off.
Then I asked if I was required to attend a meeting either here or in resort and was told NO.  

STILL DONT BELIEVE IT AND NEEDLESS TO SAY WONT BE FOLLING THIS UP ANY FURTHER.

Well i got called by a 012 number and told me to ring up 08009889904 with a reference number.
I googled the number and came to this forum.
However i was curious to know if it was to good to be true. So i called them up and was answering yes/no questions by a "Sarah", she sounded very persistant about it. So i agreed and they told me that i have one a trip to a a resort in Spain or Tenareef. So i asked what company is this for and she said that it was CLC, but i phoned up the CLC and found out THAT THIS NUMBER IS NOT LICENECED TO CLC. SO ITS 100% SCAM.
she said that she will send me a broucher to my postcode, and was suprised how she knew my postcode (shows how much the goverment take care of our information) and an email to me, have not recieved it yet.
SO DONT BE FOOLED BY THESE STUPID PEOPLE. IT IS A SCAMSCAMSCAMSCAMSCAMSCAMSCAMSCAMSCAMSCAMSCAMSCAMSCAMSCAMSCAMSCAMSCAMSCAMSCAMSCAMSCAMSCAMSCAMSCAMSCAMSCAMSCAMSCAMSCAMSCAMSCAM

BTW if they told you to go to a meeting in Earls Court, be wise and do not go.

Call from 01268 557600 informing me that I have won a holiday to several destinations, all expenses paid including flights.

Checked my name and beginning of my postcode (TN) and said it was following filling out a form at the CLC Resort & Hotel stand at the Vitality Show at Earls Court last month.

Told to confirm my booking (due to data protection I could not confirm with her) on 0800 988 9904 and give a reference 01WE.

Asked if this was a scam and was told no 100% real and I could even research the company if I didn’t believe her.

I did research and several websites said it was a scam.  Have just reported it with http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/

Scary to think for a split second it was for real!

Here is a link to my review of the "free/promotional" holiday you will attend.  There is a lot of sales pressure put on you in the UK and then for one day whilst on the holiday (which will cost you around £85-90 a person for flights and accomodation).  The holiday is there but if you want it hassle free and you are easily sold to then I would say forget it

I keep getting calls from 01268557600 - luckily I havent picked up one but thought I'd google it to see where the number was based and found this thread! Got to love the internet - now I can take great pleasure in highlighting the scam when and if I finally pick up the call!!

i was called today telling me i had won a holiday for 4 people all inclusive anywhere in the world, i didnt remember doing any surveys so inquired as to how i had won, they told me i was automatically enetered into the draw after paying my landline phone bill over the phone. i was not given a free phone number to call or a promotional code either but was told someone would be contacting me in the next week. if i dont have to pay any money then i will definately be going!! all seems to good to be true but i will have to wait and see.

It will cost around £80 to £90 per person.  That is for flights and a self catering stay.  You will have to arrange your own transfer from the airport to the hotel (the cheapest option is to take the train from the airport to Fuengirola and get a local taxi from there).  The resort offer cheap transfers back to the airport on the day of departure..You WILL be staying at the resort I stayed at.  To get to the holiday you will have to go to a promotion and suffer a hard sell and you will get the same while on holiday...

Received 2 calls 1 yesterday from 01268 557600 and one today number witheld!
Tracy told me I had won a holiday and had my email address. She said I had to ring to register that I wanted the holiday and so they CLC could send me the details. I had 18 months to book it or go to Cormwall for a weekend. I asked her to send them to the email address and she said she couldnt. Didnt ring then got a second call today from a very helpful young man who said it wasnt a timeshare, scam, and I wouldnt have to pay a penny to anyone. It is CLC 25th Aniversayr so that is why they are running the competition. Cant believe I was beginning to think I should ring. Googled the number and found all you wonderful people so thanks.
