They've been calling me at least once a day for the past 3 weeks. Luckily, I have Caller ID so have been ignoring it when it rings with their number (I've found they use 01268 557600 as well as several 0800 ones). However I told them when they first called that I wasn't interested & that I'm registered with the Telephone Preferernce Service so they shouldn't have dialled my number anyway.

I have now reported them to Consumer Direct (as a poss scam) and to the Information Commissioner's Office (for breaches of the Telecommunications Act, ie making unauthorised marketing calls). I hope that'll shut them up!

have seen these scams too many times before so was never sure it was true.

I was approached in the town by a lovely girl, and filled in her survey.  I received a phone call a week later saying i had won a holiday.  I did ring the number and was told that to claim this free holiday, both my husband and myself have to attend a meeting (2 hours, at the Birmingham Business centre).  I think i must be so trusting that i thought we should go along to the meeting.  BUT after reading the comments here and on Holiday Watchdog, i realized 'what an idiot i am, nothing is free, companies don't just give away holidays, there obviously must be a catch somewhere.  So we won't be attending.  Hope i'm not going to be pestered by those sales people now...

Just had a call today to say that I had won a holiday for four, free flights, free accommodation etc., all I needed to do was to ring 0800 988 9904 to claim and quote a reference number, I asked if this was time share and was told no asked if I needed to attend a presentation, again I was told no and that this was genuine holiday prize.  Did 1471 and got 01268 557600.  Googled the 0800 number and ended up here, because a smelt a rat and that I am not stupid, these people are idiots, do not be fooled by them.

Someone rang me on 17 Aug 09 (from Essex office!) to say ive won a dream holiday for 4.  They asked me to call Club Lacosta (head office) on 08009889904 and gave me a reference number (**PEC16#).  Apparently after i confirm some details, a letter will be sent with free holiday details (choice of 4 fab destinations!) I though it was too good to be true cos ive never won anything ever! but went along anyway and checked the internet to confirm it was a scam!!

Had a call today after missing 3 calls yesterday. I cant believe its the same chat about winning a holiday and the same number. I'm glad i googled it

They're Back! I got a call From Club Lacosta stating that I had filled in a survey at an airport 12-18 months ago [I definitely had not]. My survey had been selected as a prize winner, which meant that I had won a European holiday for 4 in either Spain or Portugal, and, if I had children under 2 years old they could go on the holiday free.
All I had to do was ring 0800 9889904, within the next 15 minutes and quote ref:CC209. If I did so within the alloted time I would also be eligible for £50 worth of Argos Vouchers.
I asked for the callers telephone number, (in case of difficulties) and was told that they would call me back in 'half hour', just to check that I had called the aforementioned number.
I asked for the callers name and location and was told Teresa Knight in the UK.
Needless to say, after 1471 came back as a withheld number, I didn't call the 0800 number and strangely Teresa Knight didn't call back either!

Had a call from 01268 557600.  Won a 7 night holiday, all inclusive etc etc etc.  That would be lovely and perfect timing as I'm 4 months pregnant, with an energetic 2 yr old and desperate for a hol, however, I didn't quite believe it as this just doesn't happen!!!

Got told to phone the 0800 number with ref etc etc etc just like everyone else on here.  Was tempted to phone......thank goodness for the internet!

Got a call from12024957130 washington dc I was told to answer a few question and I would win a trip for 2 I thought it sounded funny and I found this sight thank you for starting it.  I knew it sounded to good to be true.

Just received a call from a Indian call center. Thanks to this site I discovered the 08009888804 number is a scam. Really can't be bothered to call the number, would be interested to know if anyone has actually gone on a holiday.

OK - I admit, I fell for it - just for a short while and I rang free phone number all excited.  Smelt a rat as I am a 'comper' and when you are lucky enough to win something, you are not informed in such a way and you certainly don't have to pay anything or attend any meetings/exhibitions.

Can't believe they have been getting away with this for so long.  It gives genuine competions a bad name.

Had a call today from number above telling me I had won a free holiday from a comp i did on msn. com (that I didn't remember) and telling me to call the 0800 number. What is it with these people? I didn't call the number, I googled it instead.

Just had a call from 01268 557600 offering a weeks "free" holiday for 4 people. Nothing free in this world so googled the 08009889904 number and lo and behold ended up here. Remember doing the survey at Hartpury International Horse Trials about a month ago. Should have told them to pi55 off then but there was me thinking "he is trying to earn a few bob" so gave him 2 minutes of my time.

I too have just recieved my call, although I knew it was too good to be true called the number just to see, yes 1 week self catering for 4 £29.50 each no transfer we had to pay that but I only had to attend a meeting 2 hours away on a Wed Thur or Fri to claim my prize I funny enough declined this invitation and I have blocked their no from my mobile

Same story here - had a call from a lady who was very excited to tell me of my good luck and if I called tonight there was an extra £50 of vouchers. Not sure how she knew I had filled in a for from my thompson holiday a month or so ago as a call to thompsons let me know that this was not from them so from that call and from reading this website I wont be calling the freephone number.

We had the call from 01268557600 about half an hour ago to say we had won a holiday as part of a draw from answering a survey in Watford a couple of weeks ago. We were told to ring 08009889904 with a reference code to claim the prize. Ironically we had just been discussing how we never win anything and it looks like our win-less streak is set to continue!

Was called 3 weeks after my husband completed a survey at Mahon airport. Caller confirmed I was in age group 25-47 and a homeowner, before delightedly telling me that we'd won a 7 night holiday for 4 with return flights to destination of my choice from the Spain, Portugal or Canaries(valid for 18mths) All I had to do was call freephone number(surprise, surprise) 0800 988 9904 and quote 12 Mahon, then all details of my prize would be issued.

Needless to say they won't be getting a call from me !

Just like everyone else on this forum, we were pestered into completing the 'survey' at Palma airport, just as we were boarding the plane.
Lo and behold, I received a phone call today from 01268 557600, from a very excited lady who told me that we had 'won a LUXURY holiday for 4, ANYWHERE in Europe, Scotland and Cornwall(???)'......AREN'T YOU LUCKY, she screamed at me!!

As with everyone else, I was informed that 'all you need to do is call 0800 9889904 and quote Palma 29'.  It's all free, she said.

Seriously, do these cretins not understand that the majority of people are wise to these scams.  There is no such thing as a free lunch (or holiday for that matter!!).  I pity the poor souls who get drawn in to such devious schemes....they can only lose money, that's for sure.

It's good that forums such as this exist, to warn people about these scammers and stop them parting with their hard earned money.
