Have you investigated who are these people?

I had a call from this number today. I recall I have had several in the past asking questions about my home eg insulation questions. I said I was on TPS but she said that it was not a sales call so did not count. She said she could take me off their telephone list. I agreed that she should do so. If you try to ring back the number it is not recognised.

They phoned and claimed to be Energy Audit Scotland dot org
but it is obvious from previous items here that this is a very
unlikely story.  Wanted to do a questionnaire about energy saving and possible grant - sounded fishy esp. when they
said it could only be done on the phone, no paper, no survey available on web site, so we refused.  Why would a genuine government organization do a survey the way these people do.
Are they making a false claim by saying they have a .org
web site?  If so can they be pursued?

i work for a company like this, please dont blame the callers its not our fault. we;re in a rubbish job and its bad enough without getting shouted at. we get told what to do, you may hate getting the call but we hate making the call just as much. we dont want to hurt or upset anyone

Im sick to the back teeth off these COWBOYS they call me every day at least once asking for Mr Cummings and they have done for months I am not Mr Cummings nor have i ever been Mr Cummings and when I tell them this they hang up and call me l8r. I wish they would jst fall off the edge of the earth. Absolutley rude selfish people.

Just answered the phone, caller said was that MR Bates (I said no its Mrs Bates)
They asked if I would answer a few questions, I asked what it was about and they hung up.
If they were really taking part in a survey they should continue and answer me.

I assume they were trying to sell something.

This type of calling should be banned.

Again today ...

Received a call this morning. I live in Edinburgh. Caller identified herself as 'Trisha' from 'Scottish Research Bureau'. It is an organisation that purchases lists of telephone numbers, then calls those numbers to generate sales leads. If you respond positively to their question(s), they pass your number on to a company that will try to sell you something. They get money from passing your details on, so it is best to respond negatively. No point being rude (though I know it can be hard not to be). Nothing you do will stop you getting calls.

Had a call from these guys although not sure of the number but claiming to be Energy Audit Scotland part of the Scottish Government undertaking an energy audit.
Just checking out the government initiative and no such thing. Complete scam and must be illegal to misrepresent themselves to obtain information.
Will be taking this further with the approraite authorities.

I have experience of the energy audit people and am curious about the validity of them - seem to be connected to a company called Heat and Home Ltd.  It seems it is a con to get a possible list of potential customers.

Further to yesterdays message in the next couple of days I might be able to give out contact and address details about the location of the energy audit scotland office.

I just got them. Gary from "Energy Audit Scotland". Can't find them on web but have found "Audit Scotland" but no managing numbers. When I asked gary for the phone number he told me they are Glasgow based on 0141 2800476. He gave me some address but incomplete, said he couldn't give more, however I googled the phone number and get Energy Audit, Unit 11B Queenslie Point, 120 Stepps Rd, Glasgow, G33 3NQ. I asked him where he got my number and he said it was from "The National Database", which he said is a list of all Scottish phone numbers, but I was unable to pin him down. Scary or what?? :) When I mentioned TPS (with which I am registered) he claimed it does not apply to them because it's not a sales call. He may be correct about that, if they are genuinely a market research company, however I suspect that it would have ended up with some kind of sales pitch. In any case, the calls are still unwanted and annoying. I told him to get the firm to remove me from their list and not to call me again. He mentioned several times that he could have made several calls during the time he was onto me, which seemed to increasingly be his main concern. He kept on saying that I might be missing out on government grants, and I told him that if i want a government grant I shall ask the government. I have recorded the information and if they phone again will know. meanwhile I am reporting them to TPS.

Nothing you can do... but if you have the time you can have quite a laugh winding them up. The last guy complained he could have made loads of calls in the time that he'd spent answering my questions. Eventually I got bored with messing him about and put him on hold "Excuse me, that's the door, hang on I'll be back in a minute" - but he'd gone when I got back several mins later.

Why not tell them you ARE Mr Cummings and get them to send a surveyor round. Then be out at the prearranged time, leaving a note with details of the TPS.

Scottish Research Bureau' Got several calls from these Scumbags. They are really pushing it now.They are calling me constantly, but I know where they are based. They have rented a small office in Christopher Place, Whitburn. I think the owner's name is Billy ( I'll find out soon) and guess what he does for a living...... He fits kitchens and boilers and bathrooms.When I eventually find out his home address and number I am going to call him everyday and promote my business . ....See if he likes it

My mum has received calls from this number.  Trying to get her to replace her boiler....telling her she is not entitiled to a grant as she is only 77 and needs to be 80....Load of S***.  Lucky they phoned back and she cancelled appt before I got in!!!  Prob the same company that tried ripping her off with cavity walls last year.

I keep getting calls from these @ssholes! Either silence and hangups quick, or they ask for a "Mr Rutland" and then they immediately hang up. What is the point? Seriously?? Can anyone who's internet savy find out a) who they are b) where they're calling from? I'd like to visit the offices personally and meet then face to face. I think I can convince them to take me off their calling list with a little face-to-face time.

Sounded iffy to me. Could be a scam. New company, few details, conflicting addresses etc
