this company called me and since then i installed a bathroom and central heating as well,
all went well so not all bad any kind of research is positive

just to let you know my mum got a new boiler thru this company and they also got her a grant for 400 pounds, they done the online application as she didnt have a clue, so not only did she have ehating but 400 pounds better off they are only doing a job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At least this lady was polite, but she was nevertheless hiding behind a carefully worded script that was designed to give the impression that she was doing a survey on behalf of the Scottish government. In response to some equally carefully worded questions, she eventually admitted that they were in fact a private company hoping to sell us "energy saving products".

Time for another complaint to the information commissioner I guess. It's becoming a full time job, but apparently they only actually fine two or three firms a year.  Chocolate teapot?

You "saved" £400 off their price.  Did your mum even bother to compare prices against businesses that don't spend a fortune on telemarketers?  Any other reputable business, or organisations such as CAB, would have helped her get the forms sorted out, and she would most likely have a few more hundreds in the building society. I think they saw your mum coming.

Our persistent nuisance caller is 08443 760087 but they are the same disreputable company calling themselves ( what cheek!)  Energy Audit Scotland.
If you try to call them back you get an unobtainable sound.
TPS is useless for blocking them .
There are only three courses open.
1 trace their  address and confront them.
2 ignore their calls- easier if you have caller display.
3 pay the modest charge to BT to block them though it is galling to have to do this.
If anyone does find their address I would volunteer to pay them a visit in Theodore Roosevelt style.

Energy Audit Scotland / Heat&Home Ltd - make your own mind up:

Initial call from Energy Audit Scotland - ran through questions on cavity wall, double glazing, central heating, loft insulation.   Said they'd get back to me with my energy report.

I don't have cavity walls, double glazing was done in April, and loft was done January, but I'm looking to replace the boiler.

Second call - my energy report - confirmed everything I already knew (up to spec, not elligible for grants), but did say they could recommend someone to look at the boiler.   I played along.   We'll pass your details to Heat&Home Ltd and they'll arrange to come and have a look.

Salesman turned up, had a look, talked the talk, told me all about the wonderful recommendations they get from judges, lawyers, doctors, police, nurses - 1/3 of their business comes through referals.   Said I'd get a grant of £400 from Energy Audit Scotland (which after some research, turns out to be the same owner as Heat&HomeLtd - there is NO government agency).   I let him proceed to give me a full quote, which showed the total, then the £400 "reduction".   The price was in the ballpark I'd expected, but given the lies over Energy Audit Scotland I suspect I'll go elsewhere.

Make your own mind up.   I have no idea if they are any good or not.   That's a story I'll let BBC Watchdog investigate.

Argued that the call was research not sales therefore they can ignore the TPS status.
This is fine for those of us who are wise to this but older people are probably taken in as they are entitled to discounts on energy savings products. Come to think of it they might think I'm in that group and that's why the calls are increasing!!!
We have caller recognition now because TPS seem unable to stop this.

Glad I found this.  Following the above information and some more digging on the internet, I have no confidence in Heat and Home Ltd and am now questioning everything their salesman and their fitter discussed with me.

I have just told Heat and Home to cancel my order for a new boiler.  They were rather annoyed, but nowhere near as annoyed as I was.  They understandably hung up when, after trying to justify themselves, they said that my boiler still needs replacing and I responded with, "it does, but it won't be your company who do it"

Like others, I had had a call from Energy Audit Scotland and was led to believe that they were phoning on behalf of the Scottish Government.  Like others, I'm registered with TPS.  Their "expert" called back a couple of weeks later with my energy audit.  They recommended Heat and Home Ltd who could give me a free no obligation quotation for a new boiler to replace my ageing back boiler.  All seemed plausible so far, although I'm annoyed with myself for not smelling a rat.  I got the quotation from their salesman and since it was around what I was expecting, I signed up and paid my deposit.

I'm sure they worded and phrased everything well.  They claimed that Heat and Home are a family business and that they have the contract for this area for Energy Audit Scotland (who I assumed were working on behalf of the government.)  At no point was I corrected when I discussed their exclusive "government contract".

So, this is day 7 of my legal cooling off period and I am about to send written confirmation of my cancellation.  At this stage, I'm worried about my deposit, but as it's on the credit card, I should have some protection if this gets nasty.

If you have any problems getting a refund, here's some facts to help you with Trading Standards etc

I'm just off to the Post Office to send the cancellation by recorded delivery.  If there's any problems with the refund, I'll be having a word with Trading Standards, the Energy Savings Trust and local politicians.  In fact, I may do so anyway once I get the refund.

Confronted Ann from Heat and Home. 'No we will not be using your company as your offers are connected to the Energy Audit Scotland survey scam.' The phone nos tally up.  I don't think she'll call again. Just be aware of the numbers, know the survey is a sales scam and report this to Trading Standards. The more people who do the better.

Got a call from this number was a bit concerned,but as a consequence I got a boiler and insulation that I needed and with the companys help also recieved 400 pound from the Scottish goverment as promised I also got advice from very helpfull staff regarding energy efficiency with the help of infra red imaging this pointed out some damp spots that I didn't know existed the company only pointed it out annd did not try to sell me anything else it was only for my info this service was actually free so in short good job done for a total 2300 pound a major national competitor wanted 3800

Glad to hear it went OK for you.  As I was happy with their quotation, I was still tempted to go ahead, but when I reviewed everything I had discovered about Energy Audit Scotland and associated businesses, spotted that the salesman's e-mail address was a Yahoo account, spotted a typo with Heat and Home's company name at the bottom of their website, couldn't find any testimonials and realised how they had deliberately misled me, I lost faith in them and decided that I could not do business with them.

I started to question everything they had told me - The company is a family one, running for 27 years, started by the salesman's father and his uncle, he only had 8 vouchers left, they have the exclusive contract for this area (from their sister company Energy Audit Scotland rather than the Scottish Government), did not correct me at any time when I said that they must be delighted that they have the Government contract.  If they like to "recycle" their companies on a regular basis, how long would the guarantees be valid?

With so many doubts, I had no option but to cancel the agreement.  I am considering my options, depending on how quickly (if) they refund my deposit.

Incidentally, was the £400 from Energy Audit Scotland or the Scottish Government?  That was another of my doubts?
