this company called me 3 months ago and i did the survey over the phone i was called a few days later from their team which did their analysis  by the end of the conversation i was advised that i would qualify for a government grant for my insulation (loft) and they had concerns about the age of my boiler they recommended a  few companies to me one of which i made an appointment for a consultation with them . I found the company very couteous from start to finish of their call (british not foreign) and have since then had my insulation done through their grant scheme and my boiler by the company recommended installed last month .

thought this was a scam cos there are so many of them but def not was pleasantly surprised by their advise and recommendations now have a new boiiler through them and the company they recommended were really helpful with any questions i had

It's just a little sneaky to recommend a company owned by the same people that called you, without actually telling you this.  How did their quotes compare with other firms?

take it you worked for them as well - after giving staff day off for "edinburgh fair" they emptied the office and buggered off leaving a bunch of people jobless with no explanation. they even took stuff from the office that did not belong to them. bunch of lousy sods.

Energy Audit Scotland (EAS) is a company who cold call people using the phone book as a lead source.  They claim to be undertaking a government sponsored survey to determine if you qualify for a government grant to make your home more energy efficient but in fact are a subsidiary of a company based in West Mains Street, Whitburn called Heat & Home.  

How the scam works is that EAS call you claiming to be performing energy surveys on behalf of the Scottish Government, I.e. "this is a government sponsored survey etc."  In actual fact they are gathering information on the age of heating systems and if your heating system is over approximately 14 years old, they then arrange an appointment with you for a representative from Heat & Home to visit you and attempt to sell you a new heating system or boiler.

I know this to be fact as my niece recently worked for this company (EAS) but left after discovering what the company actually existed for.

A word of caution to anyone actually buying from Heat & Home, this company are currently registered as care of (C/O) an auditing and insolvency company based in Glasgow.

That's who they said they were.  It could be a different company with the same name, I suppose.  Before she could launch into her spiel, I asked if she was calling about the return of my deposit following the cancellation of my order with Heat and Home.  She said someone else would call about that and she was sorry that my name made it back on to their call list.

Mr Copeland - if as I suspect (judging by some of the positive comments in this thread), you are following this thread, I make no apology for what is about to hit you over the coming weeks.

Anon.  I forgot to say that I wish you and your ex-colleagues all the best with finding some secure work with a new employer, who will hopefully respect you and treat you better.  I'm sorry that Mr Copeland found a way to shaft innocent employees and potential customers simultaneously.  

The comments from ex-employees on this forum have been very helpful in building my case against Mr Copeland.  I am beginning to think it will be more fun to meet him in court, rather than have him settle his debt.

A quick Google showed that his businesses had been advertising for employees via the Job Centre.  I wonder if a call to them would put another spanner in his works.

Peter, good luck with your case against copeland, i hope you wipe the floor with him, he also got some of his staff from an emplyment agency called The Wise Group. Hope you will keep us up to date with what happens.

I had my insullation done by one of the recommended companies with a grant, paying only  £165 and is a large detached house, also I had a quote to re-new my old boiler by Heat & Home, that was 17 yrs old, which in turn was cheaper than the chap who looked after my boiler and was £700 less than Scottish gas, so for a chap to be castigated, he has used a very pro-active means to get to people who are actually looking to have a quote for a heating system and also challenging the BIG national companies who do rip people off. I would also add that there has not been one customer that has been on this site who has challengened them on the great installation and service they have been given, maybe this chap is doing something correct, anyhow that was my experience of what followed after a call from Energy Audit way back in April.

yeah this company is operating from whitburn. Wouldnt say its a scam but they r being sneaky pretending to b 1 company recommending another when they r actually recommending themselves! Why cant they just get the work in an honest way. Would you trust a company that start by lying!! They lie to their staff, they lie to potential customers... Lies lies lies.

he's a very clever sales man! Good at his job doesn't mean he's honest. If he was honest he would get business without doing it in a sneaky way. Reputable companies get business by word of mouth and recognition. Think about it logically. The man wouldn't know honesty if it slapped him in the face! Good sales men know how to make u feel like their being genuine and straight up thats how they make their money!!
