Seems I am on their list now.

Just just an automated service, plays 'hold' music. Even though I hang up, the line is not dropped for 5-10 mins. Trying to report this to ICO and TPS along with my telephone service provider, though I am left feeling that no one has any teeth to actually deal with this invasion of my privacy.

BUt will not give up hope yet that something can be resloved.

Maybe I should hold on and find what company is calling me? Prehaps invade the privacy of their website? Ethical, maybe not. But I am not an IT engineer for nothing these last 30 years.

Just got a call from 0844 688 2753 @ 18:47.  No idea who from as there was music playing and a voice that said "Please stay on the line, your call is important to us" then back to more music before repeating the same verbal message

I also got the music playing and request to hold, so I just left the phone on the side and continued with my music, they didn't hang up until sometime between 50 minutes and an hour had passed. All for the good of my BT shares!

Keeps ringing and when answer they hang up!!

People on this number are cold calling & giving our number & name as a contact. I have been called twice now by harassed people. What do they gain by doing this & please can someone stop it

Due to the high number of unwanted calls, I  have ordered caller display, few pounds per month but worth it,also switched answer machine on all the time, just lets phone ring 1-2 rings before machine kicks in, result, they have been charged and made no contact, job done.

I've just had a call from these people.  Showed up on Caller Display as International, don't usually answer them but thought I'd see who it was.  It was a woman from Cover Plus trying to get me to give her details of my home so she could give me a quote as my house insurance was due for renewal shortly. I told her I would rather contact someone for a quote rather than use someone who called me, she seemed surprised that I didn't want her to quote!

Since yesterday I have printed out a form for me to fill in every time I get a cold call, I have had five so far, the last four were today and within eight minutes of each other !  They were another International one, one that turned out to be British Gas (found that out thanks to this lively website) and the last was Cover Plus.  Considering I have been registered with the TPS for several years I am absolutely fed up with the number of calls I have been getting.

By the way, to the person who pays for Caller Display, if you are with BT and you sign up for their free BT Privacy at Home, you automatically get Caller Display for no cost and can, if you want, be registered with TPS. The only stipulation is that you make a few calls with BT.  I am glad I have got Caller Display and more often than not I don't answer the phone and think that if it's that important they will leave a message but funnily enough they don't seem to want to do that!

This number is one of many received today.  Plus others from Unknown callers.  Cannot anything be done to stop these calls.  Answering them doesn't work and neither does not answering!!!  Help

No-one at the end of the phone initially, then a beep and a voice saying I would be transferred to the next available operater. As I didn't ring them but the number was an 0844 chargable number I hung up.

Got a call from this  number but  when I answered it was ballet music.  It kept saying  my call was  important to them and one of their agents would  be there to deal with me soon.   Waited, but nothing.  Put the phone down.  picked it up again - still music. This continued for 10 minutes!!!   Very annoyed.
I would like to know who they were.  
I belong to TPS - but I  still get regular nuisance calls.

Would it be good fun to sign up 08446882753 to all those dodgy companies who you just know sell your details around (price comparison sites are bast*rds for it) so they start calling each other. Would it work or would it get flagged because it's not a proper land line number and an 0844 number? Numbers are dialed by a computer system so maybe the salesnob wouldn't realise whats happening. We keep getting calls from a 0161 code Manchester PPI company who are gonna get this treatment. Maybe the next woman who phones from a sales/PPI etc scam gets asked her pants colour.

just telephoned for someone who didnt live here. Told him that i had telephone preference and he shouldnt be calling. Asked for company details but he didnt know anymore than that he worked in leeds. Didnt know the address he worked at. Idiot!!!

Got called several times 08446882753 told credit card money could be returned due to strangley plausible government acts. Their inability to answer questions to my satisfaction made me suspicious and the comments here confirm my thougts.

This number has called me a couple of times in the last 2 weeks or so - latest was at 1853 today, but as the number is already in my Panasonic Barred Callers list the phone didn;t ring - result ! - at least I know now that works !

This number has called me twenty times today AT LEAST.. I never answer my phone anymore so use 1471 to see who has called. Not one other number has called today but the phone has not stopped!!

Called several times from this number, which incedentally has a 'sister' number from the same company (02034754049)). When I asked who was calling, she replied call centre services'. I then said if she was going to call unnanounced an intrude into my privacy, at least she should have the courtesy to get the name right! She yelled at me asking how to pronounce it! .... that would be difficult as she hadn't even got the right letters .. and its not that difficult either. After putting the phone down on her, she decided she was going to continue ringing. On the 3rd/4th call I asked her if she was intellectually challenged to be doing this job and again hung up. Then she decides she will make me pay by continually calling time and time again! As she originally asked for 'Mrs' ....... eventually I answered in my best female voice and, when I finally asked her to get the name right again, she continued with the verbal abuse telling me she was a wheelchair user and therefore couldn't get any other job. Where is the correlation between being stupid and using a wheelchair? or even getting different jobs ... sick excuse and derogotory comment to real wheel chair users! and had the cheek to tell ME to 'get a life' ... from the loser making the offensive calls. Would love to send her an e-mail!

This number rang my mobile today at 4pm. It rang once then they hung up. Vultures.

Just let it go to answer machine. I'm TPS but it makes no difference. Wish they'd pack it in. I no longer answer the phone till I hear who it is. Bloody nuisances!!
