We are repeatedly getting calls from 088446882753 various times of the day, when we pick up all we hear is background noise, no-one speaks and after a few seconds it switches off, we are getting fed up with this what can be done about it, or who can we go too to find out who it is?

I am getting this call 3 or 4 times a day; most days.  As I have been off work sick it is not pleasant to be pestered to much by these people.  Who are they?  What pleasure do they get from these constant stupid silent calls.  I screamed down the phone once or twice but they still keep ringing - what is the solution.  Can we get the caller barred?

I've had 3 calls from these idiots today.  The first they got through and I told them I wasn't interested and politely asked them to remove me from any database (and despite being registered with TPS) they still rang. They then asked why and I told them in no uncertain terms why and where to go.
I then got a silent call back and then another one later.

I've rang BT who said to speak to TPS who can block them calling me.  Ring TPS who say they can't and BT can.  Back to BT who then say they can with Choose to Refuse.  So that'll be £3.40 a month they want to do something simple like block a number.  Seems that BT/TPS actively encourage this sort of thing as it's a nice scam all round?!

All of the above applies. When I do get to speak to somebody I will string them along and promise a cheque if necessary. I have tried lending money to a company that thoght I was in debt A particularly long winded conversation and they have never rang back. I'll get them given the oportunity.

Complain to OFCOM tell them the name and the phone number, and how often you get the calls, the more complaints they get, the more likely they are to do something about it

they phone several times a week, answered the phone there and there was no one there, however, when I attempted to hang up the phone it would not disconnect the call - so i disconnected it at the wire and when i plugged it back on I got 'your call is very important to us' had to do this several times before they finally hung up!!!

I keep getting called by these cretins too. I have answered twice and told them I am with TPS and told them to stop calling me but they continue. Someone in this thread said its a shared cost call..... if this is true and I pay for them to call me then surely that is theft - pure and simple.....

Make of this what you will, just sent this to Redress Calims, the Ministry of Justice and Telephone Preference Service.

    Dear Sirs.

It is with regret that I finally find it necessary to make a formal complaint regarding Redress Claims:

    Unit 3, The Courtyard
    Midpoint
    BD3 7AY

Over the last 2 months I have been inundated with calls from this company (from phone number 08446882753).

When I initially heard from Redress Claims I explained that my number is registered with the telephone preference service, and therefore I should not be receiving unsolicited calls.  I asked for the details of the data supplier from whom they had purchased my number, and asked for my details to be removed from the Redress Claims database.  The call operative who made the initial contact (Sarah) told me she was unable to supply the information regarding the data supplier, however, she told me If I called 08448246676 then they would be able to assist me.

On calling this number (waiting 8 minutes to be connected) I found this was the inbound sales line, I was answered by a lady called Syma who had no idea what I was talking about, when I explained I was calling for information regarding who supplied Redress Claims with my number.  I asked to speak to a manager and was transferred to a gentleman called Alex who claimed to be a senior advisor. Alex was not able to provide me with any information as such queries are handled by the outbound call centre manager.  I asked to be transferred and was informed this was not possible on their phone system.  I asked for a direct number for the call centre manager and was told he could not provide me with this information.  I then asked if Redress Claims have a compliance manager. I was told yes, and when pushed he gave me the name of Conner Fitzpatrick and a direct number of 01274260024.

I called this number several times and each time it was transferred (internally on a system which does not allow internal transfers) to an answer service.

I called back the next day on the 08448246676 number and spoke to a lady called Sarah.  I explained the problems I was having and she gave me a name of Nasser (call centre manager) and a number of 01274260031.

I eventually managed to get hold of Nasser the following evening.  I explained to Nasser the issues outlined above.  He tried to stall, telling me he would have to request the details of the information supplier. It was at this point that I explained to Nasser that I had an understanding of predictive diallers, and I knew he should be able to obtain the details of the data supplier quickly enough for me to remain on hold while he looked up the information.  Nasser came back to me a few minutes later with the company name of D.M.C. and a contact number of 08000833767.  I also asked how often Redress Claims purge their record of TPS registered numbers ,as my number has been registered with the TPS for years. I was also concerned as I was asked for by my surname, a surname I have only held since 20/08/10 when I married and took my wife's surname. I was told every 3 to 4 days.

I have called the number supplied to find it belongs to a company called Gem. After talking with a director at Gem, I found that Gem bought the data providing side of DMC some 4 years ago and Gem only deal with business to business contacts. Gem has not supplied any data to Redress Claims.

If DMC had provided the data to Redress Claims, it is obviously old data provided over 4 years ago. If Redress Claims purge their records of TPS registered numbers every 3 to 4 days, how is my number still listed 4 years later?

A couple of days later my wife took a call from Redress Claims. When my wife asked who the data supplier was, she was told Aquarian (no number offered to my knowledge).

Yesterday evening I received yet another call from Redress Claims.  I asked the outbound operative to put me through to Nasser.  Nasser came to the phone and I introduced myself. I reminded him of the conversation we had previously had.  Nasser expressed great embarrassment to be talking to me again within a week, and went on to explain that Redress Claims are having issues with their dialler system.  Nasser promised to resolve the situation and ensure I received no more calls.

This evening I received another call from Redress Claims. I immediately asked to speak to Nasser and was told there was no one there by that name. I explained that I was aware that Nasser was the call centre manager and I had last spoken to him yesterday. The operative then agreed to connect me to Nasser.  She came back to me and explained Nasser was busy at the moment and would I mind holding.  I agreed and was promptly cut off.

I called Nasser on his direct number 01274260031 and a gentleman answered the phone explaining Nasser was unavailable.  I asked who I was talking to and was told Mr. Hussein.  I asked Mr. Hussein what his position was with Redress Claims and was told a company director. I asked a director of what, and was again told, a company director.

I explained to Mr Hussein all that had gone before. Mr. Hussein apologised and again went on to blame dialler problems.  I also expressed my concerns at the issues which I consider to be systemic rather than training issues with individual staff i.e. staff who were obstructive and on occasions lied.  Mr. Hussein stated he would look into my complaints and ensure my number was removed from the dialler permanently.  Mr. Hussein offered to call me back when this was done. Mr Hussein went on to confirm that their database is purged of TPS registered numbers every 3 to 4 days.  He then contradicted himself telling me they rely on the data provider to provide data which has already been TPS purged and he would take it up with the data supplier. I reminded Mr Hussein that as the data user, Redress Claims were responsible for doing this and not supposed to be relying on the data supplier.

As I would only be in a position to take his word this had been done, I declined his offer on the basis that if I was called again by Redress Claims, I would call him directly. I asked for his direct number and was given 01274260024.  Although I did not mention it to Mr. Hussein, you may notice this is the same number I was given for Conner Fitzpatrick.

Redress Claims have repeatedly failed to remove our details from their records, have proven obstructive at the lower echelons of the organisation, and have lied or dissembled throughout, all the way up to director level.

Incidentally Redress claims show the following disclaimer on their web site:

Redress Claims is a trading style of Redress Financial Management. Redress Financial Management is regulated by The Ministry of Justice in regards to claims management activities; its registration can be found on the website www.claimsregulation.gov.uk. I received a call from these people yesterday evening. The young lady who asked for me by name was blatantly lying when asked for an explanation about who Redress Claims and how they had my number. I banged off the following email to their "Compliance Manager" and copied in the Ministry of Justice and Information Commissioner.

FTA of Compliance and Complaints Manager

    Sir/Madam

At 17:21 today I received an unsolicited call from one of your staff. When asked
which organisation she was calling from I was told variously:

       * Redress Claims
       * Redress Claims which is part of the government
       * Redress Claims which is regulated by the Ministry of Justice and
    therefore represents the government

Two of these statements are obviously misleading. I think you can guess which
    ones.

I also asked her how she had obtained my number as I am both ex-directory and
registered with the Telephone Preference Service, she stated that she had
obtained my number directly from the government and therefore the Telephone
Preference Service did not apply. A statement which was patently preposterous.

I asked that my number be removed from your records and was told that this was
not possible as it was called via an automatic dialling service. As she had to
be referring to a database to know my name, this information evidently resides
    within your information systems.

I want your assurance that no further unsolicited calls will be received by me
from your organisation (or related organisations). I further require that my
details be removed from all databases and/or paper records held by your
organisation. I also require your assurance that such misleading statements from
members of your staff or individuals purporting to represent your organisation
    will not be repeated.

I trust that you will respond promptly and satisfactorily as a copy of this
email is being forwarded to the Office of the Information Commissioner and to
    the Ministry of Justice.

Just Ignore Calls from these Idiots
Get a call at least once everyday from these poeple. We have caller ID on the phone and as this number is not a recognised number we simply ignore, as with all the other calls we get and don't know who they are.

Have been doing this for months and whilst it's a pain having to get up to the phone, the number of calls has gone down quite a lot.

Work from home so I'm almost always in but just ignore and it seems to work.

    Update:

They called again last night under the name of DPI Advice Line (from 08442753).

    My wife answered.

When she spoke to the manager (Yassin) she was informed the data manager was Nasser on 01274260031.

Looks like DPI and Redress are one and the same.

I called them this morning and was told by the team leader (Emma) that neither Nasser, Mr. Hussein or Conner were available.

So I sent the following email to them, TPS, the Ministry of Justice and the Information Commissioners Office.

    Dear Sirs.

    Further to my email below.

My opinion that Redress Claims (a trading style of Redress Financial Management) are either incompetent or dishonest has been re-enforced.

Yesterday evening (29.03.11) my wife received a call from a company calling themselves DPI Advice line.

On talking to the operative it became clear that DPI Advice line is a sister company to Redress Claims.

My wife asked the operative where he had got our details from.  The operative claimed it would have been the result of either an online or telephone survey or as a result of taking out a loan agreement.

We do not answer surveys of have any loan agreements in place.

My wife asked to speak to a manager and was transferred to a gentleman named Yassin.  When my wife asked where DPI Advice Line had purchased out information from, Yassin advised this information would need to be requested from the data manager.  On asking for the data manager's name, she was informed it was Nasser on 01274 260031. This is the same person I have spoken to on two previous occasion relating to Redress Claims.

On calling Nasser's number, my wife was transferred to an answering service, which had an automated message explaining she could not leave a message.

I have called Redress Claims this morning and neither Nasser Or Mr. Hussein are available (apparently Nasser does not begin work until 11:00 and Mr. Hussein is on sick leave).

I have spoken to a manager called Emma.  It seems she is aware of the issues I have been having.  I have also asked her to gind my previous email and read it as I have not received so much as a conformation of receipt.  As Redress Claims receive over 100 emails a day it may not have been picked up yet.

To be honest I find this very difficult to believe, as personally, I deal with over 300 emails a day in my employment as a department manager.

I look forward to hearing from you.

    email addresses: MOJ consumer@claimsregulation.gov.uk
                             ICO mail@ico.gsi.gov.uk.

A little over 30 minutes later I was called by Conneor Fitzpatrick (he does exist after all). Connor is the head of legal. It turns out the 01274260024 number I was given is not his, it's Mr. Husseins direct line (incidentaly it turns out Mr. Hussein is the M.D.)

Connor's direct number is 01274260026 and email address cfitzpatrick_bryne@redressclaims.co.uk

Connor assures me the error was due to a problem with their dialler, and due to my number being listed twice on thier database, only the second number was missing the '0' off my dialling code, which is why it was missed. However he has no idea how the dialler was able to ring our number with the ')' missing......

I have been assured I will receive no more calls.

    We'll see.

Had a call from this number again today - Lady calling herself Carenza and they are now calling themselves PPI Advice Line.  Have told them to take my name off the data base, and that as I'm registered with TPS I will be asking for them to proceed with a complaint.

It seems all they are doing is just changing the name that they are calling themselves to continue to harass people.
