i have had the same after getting caravan insurance from AA.  I called AA car insurance, AA breakdown and AA caravan insurance and they all denied knowing any such company as First Assist. In the end I called First Assist head office on 020 8652 1313. The Lady promptly put me through to someone in Plymouth (i think she gets a lot of calls like this judging by her tone) who was very polite and said its probably because I was an AA customer. He arranged to have me removed from their calling lists.  I think its the way to go. The AA don't know who they are given our details out to.

This number called my mobile at 9pm on a Friday night.  Where do they get our information from?

This first assist insurance calls me every day, but even if I answer it there is nobody there.

Calling it presents a recorded message, for which I imagine someone receives a profit, so recommend NOT CALLING THEM BACK.

Yes, its First Assist.

These idiots have rang me 11 times since the 10/3/2012. You would think they would get the hint.

As a rule i dont answer 0845 numbers but yesterday they rang so late they woke my baby son up.

They just rang me and i answered straight away and said I wanted to speak to their supervisor. After expressing my , er, "concerns" I have been removed from their 'list'

I also rang the AA to register my concern about this.  Firstly, the person I spoke to never heard of them but then he spoke to someone else and confirmed that First Assist are an offshoot of Saga(?) Saga are part of the AA apparently.

I have registered a complaint with the AA who are apparently going to give feedback to First Assist. The AA have also amended my 'file' to say 'no marketing calls'

Suggestion -  if you keep getting calls from this number, ring up the AA. The AA has a maze of different phone lines so go for the "I wish to leave the AA". You will get through pretty quickly. Tell them about these calls. You never know, if enough people do it....

Had constant calls from this number for the past 2 weeks.Sometimes 5-6 a day.
Often i just hold my phone up to some really loud music

i keep getting calls from this number, but i dont answer them. are they after money to be paid off there credit card, or are they trying to sell me something i dont want.

AA know all too well who they're giving your details to. I used to work for FirstAssist - as well as other similar firms - and here's how it works.

marketing bod at AA decides that certain customers who fit a specific demographic and economic profile will be offered specific insurance products. these products are developed and sold and administered by FirstAssist. they get branded with AA logos to make them easier to sell in return for a hefty cut of the profit.

AA supply details of said customers to FA and order FA to keep any TPS numbers in the calling plan for that product as they argue those customers have a prior business relationship so it's not strictly cold calling. FA proceed to call you guys and, as the relationship is between the respective marketing departments, it's no surprise precious few AA staff actually know who FA are.

Best way to stop the calls is threaten to go to the papers in an email sent to both FA and AA.

p.s FirstAssist are not an offshoot of Saga.

I have had 3 calls today the last being at 20.56 and several calls yesterday all of which i haven't answered. i have since discovered it's first assist insurance services who have been given my number from the AA who i have car insurance and breakdown policies with. Do exactly like Dan The Man from the prvious post says. send them a [***] email, ( AA and First Assist ), and threaten going to the papers. see the results and update this site...........

Loads of calls, so many I thought something was wrong.  They didn't leave any messages amd didn't ring for long sooo we call back and it costs money.  Grrrrrrrrrrrrr

Constant phone calls received from this number up to ten PER day!! including weekends

I've had numerous calls from this number. Someone asked me if I am an AA member - not sure if it is relevant - but - yes I am. Same number calls my mobile up to 3 x a day but I just ignore it.

I keep getting phone calls from this number all the time and there doesnt appear to be any way to block phone numbers through Orange. Its several times a day at all times of the day. Please leave me alone! I'm never going to answer and they are just a pest!

This number 08450262531 (First Assist Insurance Ltd) keeps calling my ex-directorary home number.  Never leave a message but calls are made repeatedly until late in the evening.  I always tick boxes on all forms (and read the small print) regarding NOT wanting my number to be used by third parties, so why am I getting these unwanted calls?  More to the point why can't someone (from the telephone provider) stop these terrible people using private numbers without the bill payers permission!!!

Absolute pain in the backside!!! Pretty sure they have nothing of significance that I want to buy or be sold! I've read most of the comments on here and it all points towards First Assist Insurance! Please leave me alone! Aaaaaarrrrggggghhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They keep phoning at around 17:20 - I missed answering.  I have had this number before though and they left no message.  Assume Cold Call.  Just ignore Calls from this Number...

7 calls in the last 2 weeks, afternoons and evenings. Seems like they're still going strong!
