Report a phone call from 08450304400 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- Terry replies to leeI too have tried reporting these nuisance calls to TPS via their online complaint form. Their reply included this "helpful" advice :
"... If you continue to receive silent calls, please dial 1471 and try to obtain the number that called; you can report the call by completing a TPS complaint form or online at www.tpsonline.org.uk ..." - abcCalled me today at 1.30pm on a Sunday afternoon
Ignored it because I didn't recognise the number - vincent hughI ignored this call, but as usual, must report it here.
Name and shame.. How dare they call my UNLISTED number. Them and their number robots!
Id love to shove it right up...- Caller: PowerGen by the looks of it
- vincent hugh replies to Market Researcher for rentCould not agree with you more.
TPS seems to be a joke these days... - MUGGYI had a phone call from 08450 304400 on 22 Aug. I heard "Hello, my name is Kirsty and I'm conducting a surv ..... It sounded like a recorded message and I put down the receiver at that point, so I don't know the name of the company. Whenever we receive a suspicious call like this I always write down the date and time and any details I can on a piece of paper and keep it under the phone. After reading some of the posts on here, I'm glad I did the right thing. Glad to report they haven't phoned since ... but I'm ready in case they do !!

Market research again about energy stuff...needless to say I hung up.
We ARE registered with TPS.- Call type: Survey
- AndyUKYeah, my answerphone picked up, Scottish woman talking crap.
If you do go to their website then report it as a scam.
Also, contact Ann Robinson on the BBC's watchdog programme, see if they will investigate.
Yep, TPS are a useless shower of sh ite.- Caller: 08450304400

- nicAGot a call today from the Scottish woman. Said if I pressed 9 they would not contact me again ever. I did and afterwards remembered reading posts about these calls. It was an automated call and I am registered with tps. So very irritating. Hopefully not some scam but I am concerned.

- Gordon SinclairSeems I'm not alone on the robo-survey call from Curved Air Marketing. Doesn't seem like it's worth jumping through the hoops to complain, they've clearly worked the system to know it won't stop them.
I am also ex-directory, unlisted (it's two different things) and registered with the TPS. The way they get round the TPS thing is to randomly generate the number, that way it's not a list of numbers they are obliged to check against. It's a loophole that needs closed and should never have existed.
Telesales companies are all about the amount of sales per call. They know that most people the call don't want to know, so they want to rack up the number of calls to find the ones that are interested. One tactic is to keep the person talking, letting them think they have a potential sale to waste their time. There is a better way.
If you're about to go out, or know you won't need the phone line for a while, mute it and leave it connected for a while. Go out, go to work etc They can hang up but their line is tied up until BOTH ends break the connection. They are stuck until YOU hang up. This REALLY messes with their productivity, when they can't spam more people and every time they pick up the phone they get you're muted connection.
They will have more than one line, but one of those lines is unusable for a period of time. If more people do this, their available lines drop quite quickly. It won't affect robo-callers, but imagine the effect on human employees paid to harass people. Would you get paid to sit and do nothing all day because there's no way you can use your line? Would you be expected to make up the weekly targets in the remaining days left in the week?
If they're unfortunate enough to call you as you're about to leave the house for a two week holiday, even better. Just don't hang up on them.
In addition to costing them the use of that line, it will cost them the money for a call they know won't make them a penny. As far as I know there is no way for one end to force the disconnection of the call at the other end, although I could be wrong.- Caller: Curved Air Marketing

- clareLooks like this company to me http://www.hothouseroof.co.uk/
Same tel number range and Scottish voice. Maybe we should ring them.directly and do our own 'survey'.
They're flogging solar panel roofs etc and probably 'cleaning' a telephone list to see which numbers are live. Desperate, lame and lazy marketing.that will never produce leads. Get off my phone line. Read a book on effective marketing and how not to trash your 'brand'.- Caller: www.hothouseroof.co.uk/ ?

- KAY STEELEThis was call to do a survey about energy I put phone down
- RoseI have a phone with caller display and never answer calls from 084.. numbers or when no number is displayed but yesterday I answered the phone when NO NUMBER was displayed and it was this company and as others have found out hanging up, dialling 1471 does nothing. I have a phone bar service but it couldnt bar the number because there was 'no' number. Got a call again today this time with 0845 showing so didnt answer it. Waited a few moments then when to my bar service but it wouldnt let me despite actually having a number and the reason was because they were leaving a message on my answerphone at the same time I was trying to block them! I listened to the message and it was the same company as yesterday. I tried barring the number after deleting their rambling message and their number is now blocked by my barring service. Shouldnt have to go through all of this whether or not people are ex-directory, unlisted or registered with the TPS (all of which I am). Disgraceful companies. If I want home energy saving products I'll go out and source my own.
