I subscribed to BT's Preferrential Numbers scheme where you don't get unsolicuted calls - Guess What I get a call from 0845 0304 400 informing me I'd won a cash prize. I don't mind the cash but I don't want these schemers ringing me.
It's a debt collection company - I have no debts other than the usual domestic bills.
I asked the 'lady' to conclude the call but it took several attemps to clear the line.
These people need to respect our wishes. I pay for the line rental and calls I make - that should allow me who uses my line.

i just had a call from 08450304400, was asked to press 9 if i wished to end the survey, what worries me now is by pressing 9 i hope i haven't agreed to any of their hidden scams !!

I got this call last night - same thing - survey about the purchase of an electrical gadget - a woman with a Scottish accent - very distinctive!  Fortunately I leave my answerphone all the time so it acts as a screener. When I didnt press the 9 button it asked me twice more to press 9 if I didnt want to take part. I didnt respond and it rang off after approx 2 minutes.  I have found from experience that a phone with built in answerphone is the way to go as all automatic call centres recognise the answerphone straight away and disconnect - saves a lot of hassle - but if I have a concern then I'll  1471 the number and check it on here.

I've always found that its better not to respond to any request to press a number  - better to let the call run without responding then hopefully that will be the end of it

My line used to be quite and only get calls from friend, now im getting marketing calls and surverys 24/7 thanks to TALKTALK!

They are a joke, I am sure they sell your telephone number from there 'Broadband Speed Checker' as I've been hassled several times from there pathetic pressure sales team.

This really should be illgeal, consumers like ourselves should have a choice of which provider to go to, rather than someone calling me up at 4pm 7pm 10pm trying to get me to sign up! grrr

The source of the problem is TalkTalk selling information!

Interesting to read Jonathan's post - I am also on TalkTalk and after years of no unwanted calls I've had two in the past few days.

First from the above number (I hung up when I realised it was automated), and another today from a different number.

Going to contact TalkTalk and see what they have to say.

I've had three calls in the last two days from this damn nuisance, even not answering the call it leaves a long answer machine/voice mail message. Seeing as I have to pay to get my voicemail messages it is annoying not to mention costly. Virgin Media said there is nothing they can do, except for me not to call the 1571, which I can't do as I am in hospital a few times a wek and thus I will obviously miss some calls from legitimate people.

Is there nothing I can do about this? Or maybe someone to contact with regard to it?

I got my call last night (9th feb.) and like C.D.R above, pressed 9 to be deleted from there data base.
Then thought that was stupid of me! Have I just been charged to my bill by doing that ? Hope not !!  Used1471 and "Googled" the number and got this site, nice to know that i'm not the only one that's being annoyed.

Had a missed call.  Don't know who it is but when are we going to outlaw calls like these!?  This should be a criminal offence.  I'm always so careful to opt out of marketing comms.
In the meantime, all I can do if I do answer one is say hello, agree to get the person they're asking for (so many random names!) and then put the phone on the window sill and get on with my day.

Calling the number gets a recorded message announces itself as Curved Air Market Research.

Nuisance call from this number today, claims to be doing energy use survey (marketing in disguise), they talk at you do not listen at all and won't end the call, so put he phone down. They ignore our membership of TPS. Close them down!

Same as everybody else really, I'm registered with TPS but still received this "survey call" from these cretins. Does pressing 9 actually stop you from getting further calls. What use is TPS if they dont want to know about calls like this?

they dont answer their fone when you are put through to their serviced office. feel bad harrassing the receptionist but she doesnt have any other details for them.

they have both a facebook page and a twitter account, which would appear to be a good method of complaining vocally and more importantly, publicly.
