Who the hell are you? and why do you inflict your drivel on me and prevent me from phoning out..It's so annoying and should be stopped. I didn't listen to the message 'cos it was unsolicited. Fine you've got the money to waste ...unless you're my phone supplier, in which case I'll find a different one very soon.
Most people just leave the rambling phone one but just note some people have very sick people in the household and may need the emergency services which your stupid call prevents..

Just unplug the phone from the socket, wait 60 seconds, then plug it back in again.
    Phone should be useable.

Just has this call. I put the phone down as soon as i realised it was automated. Went to ring 1471 and they were still on the line! GO AWAY.
I unplugged the phone from the wall and plugged it back in and all was good.

Despite being on TPS i seem to be getting more and more of these kinds of call and the Indian telemarketers trying to sell me "good deal madam!"

8.30am on a Sunday morning!!!! Pleeeeease do us all a favour and go jump off a bridge. I was really looking forward to a much needed lie in, the only Sunday I have off this month (didn't unplug the phone as have a sick relative  so thought it must be them)  I am getting so sick of these type of calls, early morning to late evening (9.45pm last week) I never give my number to anyone and it's EX D so how the heck do they get my number? When I asked last week where they got my number from they all give the same excuse, COMPUTER GENERATED!!! That's right blame the computer, what did these people blame before the computer came long???

"Next time you call through to a call centre just remember that they're there to try and help you"

    No, you have that wrong.

The real problem that I see is your assumption that it is legitimate to cold call for the purposes of furthering your company's profits.  There should be no obligation whatsover, nil, none, zero on the recipient of a cold call to take any action to prevent further calls.  On my front door, I have a notice to the effect that cold callers are not welcome.  If one still rings the bell, then they invite any response from me that they get...including a call to the police.

I am signed up to TPS because I do not want unsolicited calls...they are a form of trespass, of invasion of my private space.  A phone call is hard to ignore for millions of people, but 10% of my incoming calls are international or selling (despite TPS) or selling masquerading as a survey.  It is spam.  It is junk mail (which always restarts after opting out).  It is a [***] liberty and it is preying on the vulnerable.

I wonder if I have yet been able to convey to you just how morally and ethically wrong it is to have cold calling as part of your marketing weaponry.  It is absolutely the worst, ethically, of all the promotional tactics, because it too hard to ignore (I had better get out of the bath because the call might be important...has my husband been killed in a car accident?).  When did it become OK for advertisers/sellers/marketing to barge into my living room without being invited?

    Rant over.

Couldn't have said it better!  Incidentally, just what help are they trying to give. I don't want PPi claimers,  computer virus menders,  dodgy loan offerers, sky warranty scams etc, etc.  That kind of help I can do without, thankyou.

First message in Jan 2011 relating to this problem and still no one has regulated it - I just received this message to my work phone so not that bothered but would be interested to see if anyone had actually had to pay for this call as some suggested may be the case at the very beginning...

A quick and polite call to "Hot House Energy Company" in Blackburn 0845 030 44 55 and they told me my number will take 28 days to be removed from their automated system (why it's this long I have no idea) but was told I would not receive any manual calls from them meanwhile. They're only down the road from me so I'll be knocking on the door if it continues.

Yesterday evening I received a call from an indian man saying he from Talktalk and wanted to speak to account holder. I told him it was inconvenient and so he wanted to know when he should call back. I said please remove me from your database, I have already asked in the past but no one seem to take any notice... I no longer wish any calls from your company.  Today an automated call from this evil pest followed by 5 unrecognised calls that all went to voicemail that seemed similar. No co-incidence I know  its Talktalk giving my information out. I am sick and tired of this company abusing its position. I have been registered with the TPS for years and I have caught talktalk out selling my information before and threatened to leave them. As it seems I cannot do anything more to stop them, I have decided to return to BT who dont make their customers pay too barr malicious numbers.

I had an email stating that I had a voice message left on my phone: needless to say that this mysterious number did not show up on my mobile, or indeed the supposed mysterious voice message.

Fortunately, alarm bells rang in my mind before I pressed the 'listen to wav message' bit in the email as it seemed to be a scam and so i just deleted it.

ALWAYS check your mobile first to see if you have had a missed call/voice mail.

I so totally despise these criminals who are just parasitical scammers.

I have just had an unsolicited phone call from Clydesdale Marketing Services. It was a pre-recorded message. I didn't stop to listen but simply hung up.
My phone number is ex-directory and registered with TPS, so I don't want to get this kind of intrusive phone call from that company again. If it happens again, I will complain to TPS

The number is random dialled so ex-directory does not work. TPS does not cover marketing calls so a complaint to them will not work.  Sad but true. The only thing you can do is contact the company, possibly by finding their website.  Send them an e-mail asking them to remove your number from ALL their data files .  Tell them that if the calls continue you will report them for harrasment and keep a copy of the e-mail.  I did this with a marketing company and it worked.

Thank you for your correspondence about unsolicited automated direct marketing phone calls.

The phone calls you have received originate from an organisation called Curved Air Marketing Solutions.

    What we do

The Information Commissioner’s Office regulates the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR).  The PECR are concerned with the way organisations send marketing material by fax, text, email and telephone.  Marketing can include the promotion of goods, services, aims or ideals.

    Automated direct marketing calls

Regulation 19 of the PECR says that automated direct marketing calls cannot be made without prior consent.   Automated calls usually take the form of a pre-recorded message.

Regulation 24 says that the caller must identify themselves when making automated marketing calls and must provide a valid business address or freephone number.

In most cases our approach to complaints is to educate organisations to help them understand what the PECR require.  We will also advise them to take any steps necessary to comply with the PECR in future.

    Next steps

We have now written to the organisation to inform them of their obligations under the PECR and to ask them to suppress your telephone number from their databases.  This suppression should not take any longer than 28 days and should ensure that they do not call you again.

If you receive any further automated direct marketing calls from the same organisation after 28 days have elapsed then please write to us, quoting the reference number above.

Although we are not taking further action at this time we will keep a record of your complaint. The information we gather from these complaints may assist us with enforcement action in the future.

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.

    Yours sincerely
