Report a phone call from 08450304400 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- glynis smith| 10 repliesI was asked to take part in a phone survey but if I didn't want to, press 9..which I did. The voice however carried on and on and on. I could not end the call, I hung up but the but the 'voice' continued. It took a considerable of time before I was able to use my telephone. I have no idea who it was that was calling, the questions were about what electrical items I'd bought, had I checked the energy rating etc etc.
- Annoyed| 1 replyAbove number called. Silence for a minute. Could not use the phone for several minutes.
- Johnrecorded message asking to press 1,2,3 etc for cavity wall insulation etc
- Ute| 1 replyHad a message from the above on my answer phone. Same thing - automated voice asking for participation in a survey. Didn't listen to the full message which seemed to be of considerable lenght, but we're registered with the phone preference service, so this is worrying...
- paul| 1 replycalled bt about this. With tps for years bt traced the number to powergen i have no services with powergen and never have so a call to tps tomorrow to report the call and a call to powergen to TELL them to remove my number from their data base......wot a cheek powergen.
- Caller: powergen

- spondyA very odd survey which seemed to have unbelievably long gaps between the different numbered options which made me suspicious about whether the call was made deliberately long. The pause after the request to press 9 was followed by an equally long pause after 1, 2, 3, etc.. The call blocked our line for ages despite us pressing red phone repeatedly, green phone found the Scottish female voice simply continuing at length regardless. Not only was energy mentioned e.g. cavity walls, but also pension! Very odd. If this is connected to a premium call somehow I will be livid! Do Powergen do pensions???

- Mike| 4 repliesThis is "The Hot House Energy Company" illegally making unsolicited automated calls without phone owner's consent. Also, we're on TPS, they are ignoring it.

- JohnCalled me a few minutes ago allegedly re "energy survey exclusively in the Midlands". Number is TPS listed, so they shouldn't really call it. I was out so CallMinder (BT voicemail) took the call. Survey started by asking to press 9 to opt out? Obviously CallMinder doesn't press 9 so it carried on rather pointlessly for some time trying to get a response from CallMinder, eventually detected lack of response and gave up. Not impressed.
Companies House does not list a company with a name resembling HotHouse Energy, nor does Google find any such company (it does find complaints about unwanted calls).
In theory given an 0845 number it should be possible to find out who provides it and thus who is operating it. I can't remember how :(- Caller: Hot House Energy

- John (as above)| 1 reply2nd call in half an hour. This is not funny, this is harassment in contravention of various Codes of Practice and probably in contravention of the criminal law.
- Caller: Hot House Energy ??

- John replies to John (as above)I tried calling 08450304400 (not from my line). It plays back the same survey as already described. Contrary to their claim, pressing 9 does not abort the survey.
There is something dodgy here, and I have reported it to Consumer Direct. It may be as simple as a scam to get you calling their 0845 number. If HotHouse Energy call you, please report it to Consumer Direct.

How to find the Communications Provider for any UK Number Translation Service (NTS) number (0845 etc) - please forward as widely as possible.
Given an 0845 or 0870 or whatever non-geographic number translation service (NTS) number, it's quite easy to find out who is the Communications Provider (?) providing the number. The Communications Provider is not the company ultimately receiving the call, but the CP operates under a UK licence which obliges them to ensure that their customers (in this case the people contracting the CP for the service and ultimately receiving the call) do not break any relevant telecom operating licence regulations. CPs are entitled (indeed, afaik, obliged) to discontinue service if such breaches of regulations can be shown to have occurred.
Ofcom's UK telephone number ranges list is currently findable at
http://www.ofcom.org.uk/static/numbering/
and the 0845 numbers etc are at
http://www.ofcom.org.uk/static/numbering/s8.xls
In the specific case of HotHouse Energy, we find that 08450 30 numbers are provided by Thus plc.
Thus will be hearing from me tomorrow, and hopefully HotHouse Energy will be hearing from Thus in due course. Then perhaps they will be looking for a new Communications Provider. - MSMHot House Energy, supposedly doing a survey, 'specifically for the Midlands area'.
Hanging up caused the 'phone to start ringing again.
Pressing nine, to opt out, and hanging up for a second time didn't stop the call, the phone simply continued to ring until I picked it up for a third time.

You are entered a prizy draw of MS5 for £50, if you push.. than we will not contact you any more. - keithyes had one of these calls yeasterday on our answer machine. Best advice is not to even push anything on your telephone or hang up. On the first question if it does not get a reply after asking it then it ends the call itself. Yes i am listed with the TPS and complained - they cant do anything due to it been market research and pass you to the ICO. Dont bother contacting them either as they fob you off as well. I was told to go to ofcom who cant really help either but they will log the complaint. The advice from ofcom was to contact my own telephone provider and get the call number blocked or change my number.
So there you have it, if its a market research company you have a fat chance of someone actually doing anything to help you.- Call type: Survey
- chrisreceived call today. obviously dodgy put phone down, dialled 1471 but call still continued, put phone down again and dialled 1471 again, managed to get calling number 0845 030 4400. i have singed up for tps so was surprised to receive this nuisance call, i intend to take it up with tps but judging from previous comments not hopeful.

- orbie36 replies to MikeHi there, I came home this evening to find an attempted messge being left to do with an electrical survey (I didn't pay too much attention as I was trying to work out how to delete the damn thing) by an automated message on my answer phone. I probably wouldn't have minded, but I am TPS registered also. Is the TPS thing not suppose to stop this sort of thing? There must be some kind of higher power that this can be reported to?
- LiviSaw a call from this number today on my caller display. I always check these kind of numbers online first, so thanks 'Whocallsme' for the tip off. Now they won't stand a chance of getting an answer!
- Caller: don't know
- Mr S CooperGot the automated voice mail offering £50 M&S vouchers again pressing 9 does not end the survey and after hanging up it continues. I phoned it back and it said this is Clydesdale Market Research.
We are registered with TPS but still getting calls from companies we had a series of calls from Clear Contact- Caller: Clyesdale research
