Had a call from them today at 17:52 the first one of about 10 in 6 months. The latest I've ever had was at 11:30pm!

I'm in TPS and ex directory and these people are a menace. I'm writing to my local MP.

I am Ex-Direct, registered with the TPS and not on BT. I have only ever given my number to my friends, family and companies I am directly involved with. I am always so careful about disclosing my details and value my privacy. Still I receive several calls a day from these companies (luckily it's usually while I'm at work). What is the point in taking these actions to protect your privacy when they do nothing to stop the pests they are supposed to filter? I told the last company (the sister companies going under the names of Weatherseal, Ideal Homes etc) that as they had called me and I had directed them to remove my name and not call again but they had, one more call would allow me to prosecute under the 'Protection from Harassment Act' (before telling the guy to bog off!)

THESE PEOPLE KEEP RINGING MY HOUSE PHONE, THEY CALLED THREE TIMES IN ONE DAY!!!!! FLIPPIN MARKET RESEARCH. I AM ALSO EX-DIRECTORY.............BLOODY IDIOTS.......

I came home from work tonight and opened my mail to find a "Sorry you are leaving us" letter from npower, who have been supplying me with electricity for years, and I have never had any complaints ... I have not approached any other company, nor has any other company asked me if I would like to switch. I was getting these cold calls from that 08450304416 number but never picked up the phone until the last time (about 2 weeks ago) when I picked up the phone and left it off the hook for half an hour and went out ... when I came back they had hung up, obviously ... that was about a week or two ago. Got a letter from npower today asking me to phone them ... apparently British Gas have an arrangement to take over my electricity supply ... I have never spoken to British Gas in my life ... what's going on ... this is more than a co-incidence ... I smell something fishy ...

Well, further to that, I phoned npower and apparently they have been getting a lot of similar calls. Seems to be a spate of it. If you are with them and get a "Sorry you are leaving us" letter I would suggest you let them deal with it.
For that matter whichever electric or gas company you are with ... if you don't want to switch you don't have to ... it's a competitive market and quite frankly I would say don't be taken in by the gaff that one distribution company is going to be cheaper than the other ... it's not ... at the end of the day you will still get ripped off ... go green and turn your heating down ... get efficient heat and light and put a brick in your toilet ... in the tank obviously ... not the bowl ...

Been bothered twice in the past hour with these idiots and cant understand why I should be on any of their lists, the first person to call hung up on me and the second was an automated service. Don't see why people have to go to the trouble and take time to opt out of something they shouldn't be bothered with in the first place. Definitely unprofessional.

Just had 08450304416 call my house phone, though I never took it, well they can call back at the weekend as I'll be at work. These people are a pain in the $%^&$!!!. If it's not calls from Indian  saying my pc has issues it's some British/Scottish pests. Have taken to keeping a whilstle near the phone, 'just in case'.

Time will tell if it works or not, I find if you call these folk you end up getting more calls from them. This might be the case here, but if it is they'll either be told to "go forth & procreate" or  if I''m in a good  mood to "get lost".

I have just devoted thirty minutes of my day clogging up their contact form system with pointless messages. Perhaps if we all do the same, it will at least inconvenience them for a while :

Pretend "market research" call thinly disguised to get as many personal details as possible. Called during evening meal. Not the first time they have called according to our caller listing. Not really a market research company, just using it as a front for sales calles that inevitably follow later.

I'm ex directory, but on average, get 1 to 3 unsolicited calls per day, so I just pick yup the phone, and without speaking, wait for them to talk, and as soon as they do, I put the phone next to the radio, and "Hey Presto" they hang up, and hopefully get the message. It does seem to have declined, since I started doing this, but time will tell. I have had this one, (0203 0266482) on more than one occasion, but todays first was (0845 0304416). Is the government involved in this, in some way, being as they do nothing to stop it ?

Just filled in their form, with made up phone numbers, and a company email address, which will waste some of their time, instead of ours.

Same trouble with junk mail, & heard a great solution a while ago, if they have a mailing address. Just get a large jiffy bag, and put a brick, or something heavy in it, mail it to them, without postage, and they have to pay for it. They might also get the message, as we have the last laugh, at their expense.

Oh well know who the company are ..!, but had a call but they din't leave a message as I was out at the time,always tend to think if people phone you and DON'T leave a message what's the point in them phoning in the first place .???? still that's the way is is with some people.

So about 10yr ago I became disabled through doing a "proper" job, not dialing a phone and making lives miserable but working for a living!!!!!
So now I can hardly walk and when I do I am a) in agony and b) at risk of falling.....so what does a broken person like me do, "I know I'll register with TPS, MPS" and all the other rubbish they pretend to protect us with, I registered  and promptly got dozens of unsolicited call, you contact the TPS and pass the buck andsay they cannot do anything Blah, Blah Blah.....so what is the point of the TPS? as far as I can see Nothing, they are worth nothing and what they do is useless!
Wondering why my TPS/ex dir phone is getting all these calls....low and behold BT have put me in the phone book.....me an ex dir now in the book getting plagued by rubbish.
Is it any wonder the whole "working" country is just sick and tired of "scum" fiddling loopholes and sneaking under radars and the people paid to protect us are making money for doing nothing....
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NEVER TAKING PART IN SURVEYS AND REFUSE TO BUY ANYTHING THAT IS SOLD VIA AN UNSOLICITED CALL........COLD CALLING AT YOUR DOOR IS ILLEGAL FOR A REASON, IT ALLOWS SCUM TO ROB/RIP OFF/MAKE MONEY OF USS THE UNSUSPECTING PUBLIC, SO IF DOOR TO DOOR IS ILLEGAL LETS MAKE UNSOLICITED CALLS ILLEGAL, HOW MANY ELDERLY/INFIRM PEOPLE HAVE SIGNED UP AT HUGE COST TO SOMETHING FROM A COMPANY COLD CALLING.....EITHER SALES OR THINLY VEILED "MARKET RESEARCH"

Dear Caller - I object to receiving an unsolicited call with a recording speaking to me. Even when I immediately closed the call, I then tried dialing 1471 to see who was calling me and I found the recording was still wittering on. Cold callers are a bane of my life.
