I'm ex-directory & on the TPS.     STILL I get these telemarketing calls.     Aaarrghhh.
Got a call-blocker for £49.99.
What an amazing machine.
However, there are some phone numbers (very few) that have not been included in the 200 pre-programmed known nuisance phone numbers that come with the blocker.
If a nuisance caller does get through, it's just a matter of pressing a little button on the top of the call blocker and you never here from them again.
Marvellous.

They called my BT line yesterday, even adding an extra 0 on the front of the caller ID probably in an attempt to defeat ID-based blocking. Now, since I registered their number on my PBX as a known marketer, including in that form, I got something of a recording of their call. First question was about which room I use the most. Once again, a draw for M&S vouchers was mentioned.

As for people who say the call is still on the line after they hang up, this is by design - the initiator has to hang up to conclude the call - the recipient has time to move to another phone without leaving one off the hook. Can be annoying sometimes - it happened with a silent, no ID available call to my grandfather's phone once - ended up having to call BT from a mobile to get the call cleared. They do time out eventually but not particularly quickly.

08450304436 has blocked our messages on sky line as nine does not cansel call as stated. We are unable to get to any other messages as a result. We are waiting for calls from hospital and are unable to retrieve because we can't remove this call.

who is this pest? never get any communication just my phone keeps ringing.Looking on internet it appears to be connected with UPS ( I presume united parcels service )

I was called last night for a "survey".  When I realised it was an automated call I simply put the phone on the table and left it there until the line dropped.  If the number called does not hang up the caller cannot use the line until it is disconnected and pays the cost of the open line.

I detest these automated calls more than any other unsolicited call.

Send them your junk mail without any names and with insufficient postage!

Another nuisance call with no response - infuriating

I just got this re a survey this evening.  I am really concerned about the consequences and whether there's any way I can get charged by them.

Received a phone call from 08450304436 my daughter answered as she thought it was her dad. I took the phone off her and it was a recorded message. The only part I caught was that I would be entered into a free prize draw. I immediately hung up. I have no idea who the company are but I will report them if I can find out. I am registered with TPS.

This company called me this morning asking if they could carry out a life style survey with the promise of M&S vouchers. I was surprised when the voice (female, Scottish accent) offered button 9 as an opt out - the call sounded 'live'. I chose to opt out. I too have registered with the TPS but I think the callers get around the ban by saying that they are conducting a survey and not selling anything.

I just got a call from this number....as I didn't recognise the number, I didn't answer but came on here to see who it was.  I am ticked off this is an unsolicited call/marketer, specially as I am registered on TPS/MPS, ex directory, and everything else you can think off!  I have lodged a complaint to TPS and Ofcom about this company and hope they don't call me again.

received a call today from this number. The call was automated- I put the phone down.After a while when I want to make urgent medical call-this call is  ON still and I was unable to disconnect it.with the medical need and I can't make a call  made me very angry. I want to know how these peoples gets privte numbers. If I get some information about this company I might seek legal advice regarding this call-which is a trespass.
Any advice/suggestion.

I got a call like the ones below.  Does any one know if they are scamming to get money from the bill. I've had TPS and am also x directory for years.

It's called sugging.

1) Curved Air company phone up with a survey

2) Later or on another day a Hot House company phones to sell you overpriced rubbish saying you completed a survey (pressing 9 does not work so you complete the survey they say)

3) It's an old scam that TPS and DMA don't do a damn thing to prevent.

4) NEW Legislation is required to allow consumers to opt out of marketing and survey calls as well as sales calls.

The only current remedy is to e-mail them asking them to remove you from all lists and to cc the ICO.
Then to inform the ICO of a data protection breach when they contact you again.
