they are at it again.....

I'm getting loads of calls from this number.  Fortunately my answer machine kicks in most of the time and they don't leave messages - had 6 missed calls from them just today.  

I suspect that 'British Gas' is just a front for a scam way of getting details out of you, has anyone checkedf if British Gas actually knows about this number?

It needs reporting to someone who will deal with them - Watchdog?

I too, have been getting calls during the day from this number, when I haven't been around to answer it!  They never let the phone ring enough times for it to go on the answer machine.  Until I actually get to speak to someone, I don't know what it's about.  I am a British Gas customer, but can't think why they are so desperate to contact me by 'phone, when they could just as easily pop a letter in the post!

yea this number has called me again today at 9.45am and i answered it this time and it took ages before someone spoked on the other end i was just about to hang up when a guy as me if he could to someone that has never ever lived at this address and i told the guy that ive never heard of him and why do you keep ringing  when ive already said he doesnt live here and he said oh sorry ill remove you number and i said i was told it already had been and then 35 mins later they called again asking for the same guy and know its pissing me off.why dont they get the message that no one of that name resides here and stop ringing me.

i get this all the time i rung them back and it is BRITISH GAS

keep ringing me at least once a day i'm just ignoring as looking this number up looks like british gas.

Rang this number back - can confirm it is British Gas with their 'non-urgent matter'

Have just had 3 calls from this number on my personal mobile number which has NEVER been used for anything other than my bank.

I will definately not be taking anymore calls from this number

Have been calling me every 2 - 4 hours.  If you want to know who it is, it is British Gas.  If you do 1471 they give you another number where you have to leave your details. the number is 0845 070 0828.

If they can waste money doing this they should drop the gas prices!

I am rarely home but when I come back in the evening my phone ID has sometimes 2-3 phone calls from this number.  I agree it is British Gas. Is it possible they don't have better things and spend resources repairing faults rather than bothering us customers?!?

Got a call from them today - it's a freaking Sunday! Luckily I was out or I might have told them what I think...

As nPower called me last week I'm guessing e.on have told them I'm switching my fuel over...

I answer when I see the number is one of these idiots and leave it next to teh radio; lets see how they like holding a call on their bill.
Go back 20 to 30 mins later and replace the receiver.

I've been getting silent calls from 08450700827 (British Gas) everyday for a fortnight now. And guess what, today I got a silent bill. Yes, a envelope, addressed to me from British Gas with the words 'contains bill', but enclosed was a blank letter with the BG address. And they are not my supplier. This feels rather like being stalked and coming from a big company like British Gas, is a bit of a worry. My father worked for British Gas for years, they used to be a decent company and now they've come to this. How far downhill must society go I wonder. Surely Oftel have had several complaints in about this behaviour and have enough evidence to get something done.

I picked up nearly instantly - the guy seemed very surprised to hear me on the end of the line, apologised to me saying he called the wrong number, then hung up.  Scottish guy.  It could be to do with me moving our supplier from British Gas after moving into our new house and seeing their price hike a few weeks ago - if so, then the guy probably bottled it and didn't want a chat with me about it all! :)

I'm registered with the TPS, so if I start getting more than a few of these calls then ofcom and tps will be informed.

I just happened to be home today and took the call. I didn't give the guy a chance to speak, he copped an earful from me. Then this Scottish guy has the gall to tell me that it's not cold calling, that I have agreed (probably some small print hidden in a bill or something)for them to contact me with any new price plans, etc. I said I have made no such agreement knowingly, but if he seems to think I have, then cancel it forthwith. He then tried to engage me in sales speel, by asking me why I didn't want to use British Gas!!!!? I told him to f*** off and never call my number again. Crikey, are things that tough up in Scotland that you have to do jobs like that.

The phone that got called is used for testing in our software department at work. Its number is registered to the company and not to any individual in particular. God knows what they were hoping to sell us.

This nimber keeps ringing 3 or 4 times a day. No response when answered. We need to stop these calls. I am already on telephone preference and they are illegal.

Just had the 'joys' of one of these calls this morning, did a check on the web and ended up here.

What I found interesting is that we have just moved our Gas supplier away from British Gas due to their price hikes and wonder if that is why I am suddenly getting these calls.

My wife has just told me that we have been getting these at least 2-3 times a day for the last 2 weeks, which is about the time we moved supplier.

Anyone know who we can complain to (I've already registered with TPS website)?

I had calls twice a day to my personal mobile for last few days from 08450700827.   Unable to call back as this number does not accept calls.   I am getting increasingly frustrated as cannot get to phone before it calls off   I believe this is British Gas from whom I have had countless calls and repeatedly advise that I DO NOT want to go back to them!
