Just called the number - it's an automated system which requires you to verbally give your name, address and phone number.  And that it will take up to 28 days to action!!  Why you can't just key in the number you want them to not phone is beyond me - and obviously British Gas!!

I keep receiving calls from this number, when they first started it was during the day while I was at work. Now they are getting later and last night I missed one at 7 oclock.
Im not a british gas customer and remember now why I changed because of the rubbish customer service I had to deal with when we moved in to our house dealing with an unpaid bill from the previous owner.
I will now be phoning the number people have left here and hoping that I do not get calls in the middle of the night like others have!

I just received a call there at 7.45pm. This is getting out of hand

This has appeared on my missed calls one or twice a day for over a week.
Along with the WITHELD recorded debt 'public information message' I'm fed up. Have been to the Ofcom internet site and followed the link for the Telephone Preference Service.
I've registered and will see if it works.

Received several calls from 0845 0700827 claiming to be British Gas - answered one today, only to be told there is a problem with my billing.  Then wanted me to confirm address details, I said that they should have them there in front of him and refused.  He said they would also be sending a letter - so I told him I'd wait for the letter.  I believe this is a scam number and reading some of these posts believe its also rather strange that have only been receiving these calls since switching supplier.

These verminous filth are from British Gas - a well known firm of jerks.
I was rude and used foul language them and they said 'we're recording this'. I'm soooo scared

These [***] suckers have been harassing me for the past few weeks, the following are the most recent dates and times they have called me. They woke me up on saturday morning and i went insane, altered my house voicemail to the effect of "if you are calling to sell me something then [***] off, im not interested, ive signed up to every telephone preference service going and if you keep it up i will report you, it is ******* what you are doing"

I have also recieved a number of calls from this number.  I have also had terrible troubles with British gas before as well and have also recently switched supplier.  I do hate British Gas.
Has anyone succesfully had this number barred or found a way to stop them ringing?

They seem to ring several times a day practically all days of the week.  Today, for example, they called and actually identified themselves as British Gas - immediately told them I'm not interested and they went without even arguing.  Four whole hours later, and they're calling again.  I answer it, and there's no one even there!

I am also getting these calls; pleased i have come across this site.

I just had a call from this number with a automated message saying it was british gas but after the message a guy said hello and when i said yes he said is this mr so  and so to which i replyed yes and asked  then he went on to say this is sky tv to which i said wtf your message said your british gas to which he hung up sounds to me like a scam and a [***] one at that. [***] these [***] who cant get a real [***] job and instead have to try and rip off the people who work hard for there money. I tell you this if i ever meet one of these [***] ill personaly rip there head off and [***] down there [***] neck.

I have received several calls from this number- its a British Gas sales line.  I cancelled an account with them a few weeks ago and am been pestered by calls from them!- I'm glad I cancelled now....Happily with Npower now.

They call me at least 5 times a day. I very rarely answer. I had an account with them in April 06. I am with Powergen and they wanted to charge me a lot of money because my meter reading was high compared to the reading British gas gave them. They agreed a lower reading with British Gas but now Powergen want about £150 more and British Gas are now plaguing me for £180! Whistle for it...

My Wife has been getting these calls for the last week or so.  Thanks for the tip about 0845 0700828 I'll give that a go.

Ahhh, so thats who it is! When I moved BG was the supplier so I stayed with them, until I found out that they wanted £150 from me to switch to bill payment from the annoying (and more expensive I might add) meter thing, which for me is outside my block of flats, through a gate down a lane and in a manky muddy shed with no light! I wouldnt give them that so I've been on the meter. If these people are calling me it must mean that my supplier (who will put me on a bill for no charge) switchover is in progress *grin*

my call came from +08450700827, therefore +08 is an international dialling code!

Beware, calling back would presumably mean you are calling the international dialliing code (+08)

I am ignoring the calls, as I am not expecting any calls, and left British Gas over a year ago.

why do I keep getting these annoying calls from this number, if it was important they would leave a message on the answer phone!! I won't be answering them in case they charge my mobile and how did they get my mobile number i ask?

I am getting these calls 2-3 times a day for the last week, i have never been a b/g customer, i have given up answering the phone and just let them leave there normal message of background noise. Arggh how annoying
